Glorious PC Master Race, or is it?

Fact is: 4k has already arrived in gaming. If you can't afford it for some reason, don't assume that others don't have it as well.
Fact is: SC at 4k runs smoother (less frame drops, no UI lags) with superior graphical quality given the SAME hardware.

At this point, you just make me laugh. You are talking about those little ipads that are not there to run games anyway and call it "optimization" when someone manages to run elite on it. You are also the one who started argueing in the first place, instead of accepting that SC has a better engine that is better optimized and can make better use of given hardware resources while allowing for superior graphics and a better user experience - despite the fact that it's still in development.

We have a case of a dreamer here. I'm afraid I have nothing to discuss with a person who presents their own fantasy for reality.
'User experience' in a non-existing game especially made me giggle.
Have a good night Commander ;)

Given the fact that E:D's UI is tied into the main game thread, which creates significant lags when saturated: You not only have failed to play SC, you also haven't played much of E:D. Probably because you don't have a decent rig to play either?

But here you are, trying to talk with the grown-ups. At this point, you are just amusing the crowds, as no one can take you seriously ;-).

My temps are usually in the 30 to 50 degree range, depending on ambient temperature. Only with Prime95 the CPU will get significantly hotter, but remain stable.

Where do you take the readings? BIOS or soft readings. I tried different reading software, however afterburner are in my opinion very accurate to use.

Sure sure. Also Earth is flat, and governments are controlled by telepathic octopus monkeys ;)

MSI R9 390 8GB - 1080p Ultra

In SC 60FPS 65C.
Planet's 57-60FPS 65C
Stations 57-60FPS 65C
Idle temp can go down to 35C

Yes, very close to what I get too.

EDIT:

Anyone know how to log the readings from Afterburner? I will try to post a game session for one hour or so.

I also worry a bit about Horizons coming out on the xbox since the thing already runs a bit hot playing ED and it's pretty new. I don't have a way of checking temp, but I happen to have a dreamcatcher hanging behind the console, and the heat that comes out of the back rises up the wall and causes the feathers to flap around quite a bit when playing ED.

Is it a usual thing for an addon to cause additional problems? I'm a big fan of Bethesda games and I've never noticed any additional problems from having 5-6 quite large addons loaded.

Its an interesting conundrum Lysander. Alas my PC has an XSPC watercooled cpu block and despite being clocked by OCUK at 5.0GHz (2700K), ive never had cause to inspect it as its run faultlessly since Nov 2011! (i think thats the date I bought the rig). My old GPU's were watercooled too but I unfortunately bought a new GPU that cant R9 390X (I never checked, doh!). But the Ps3 can be noisey when playing games for a while. My PC is whisper quite, apart from the gpu fan and thats not really excessive. But a few hours of GTAV on ps3 can have it sounding knackered. But that could be totally unrelated.

Despite running in ultra, I rarely see anything below 60fps but I admit that I do not keep an eye on this. I keep an eye on how smooth the game 'feels' and since the AMD fix, ive been impressed. My old cards could stutter a bit and they never liked planets much in Horizons. (2x6950's). The new one gobbles it all up happily and is let down by my bog standard LED monitor. I'm awaiting CV1 Rift and thus not bothering upgrading my monitor. Next month sees me buy a new clocked Skylake bundle from OCUK in preparation.

Plus Ive bought a gaming chair to sit on as Ive been using a crappy old thing. But it trapped my fingers on the edge of the table for the last time on Saturday and is now awaiting a voyage to the tip. It wasnt adjustable.

GPU with GPU-Z, and for the CPU, I used a different software from my Mainboard (Asrock).

I have one water loop passing through three GPUs and the CPU as well as two RADs.

As long as the software can access the sensors, the output should be exactly the same with programs.

your comment made me giggle too....your right there is no actual game yet..its alpha...but we have the crusader system...and in that one gorgous system I have had more fun than I have had in the 400 billion in ED......in SC we don't have planet landing yet...well blow me down because me and 4 of my mates went out in my Connie the other night and landed on a roid so massive and detailed it made the barron round deserts in ED look bad imo.....we sat on that roid for 45 mins watching the sun go over the horizon, chatting away amongst ourselves, walking around my ship together, even EVA outside took some lovely screenies...

that game is showing us already the sort of game mechanics most of us want from a space game, great flight engine, full Newtonian...
hell even play it offline if you youtube it...(even better performance)

I had to abandon my ship the other night after a attack at a comm relay....would you believe I had to walk out of my massive ship whilst sparks and flames were flying everywhere?..it was so wow......SQ42 is here at end of the year,so for single player kicks it will be awesome, and it will have co-op pve too....and next year towards the end we should have the online version of the verse.

not trying to be negative here but a lot of you clearly have not played the latest SC version, just going off the old lets run it down bandwagon...

some of you really want to be stuck in that cockpit forever don't you?...travelling the same looking systems ect...

cmon FD I don't want to see this game left behind as its not technical enough for a 2016 space game imo...as it stands..

time is FDs enemy...sure a lot of the total fan boys will wait...but most normal peeps that want a simple expected modern day game wont.

I may come across as a SC fan boy....I just want the ultimate space adventure...SC has the looks, the gameplay mechanics, basic fps out of the box, proper online organisations, ships have real character...you are not the ship...you are a person living in the ship/space....

were all different, but some of you are clearly blind, mad and deluded .......this industrie is about money sadly these days.....and when SC hits the shelves it will be close to the hysteria we have when a new gta launches..

all I know is the future looks good for my love of space games......its just ED need to jump forward 10 years soon.

The Xbox was never designed to run at 4K & will never run at 4k. That will be reserved for the next itteration.

I can assure you that the GPU in the Xbone can run a 4k resolution without any trouble. However the detail in today's games means that you wouldn't be getting much more than 10FPS. It can of course display movies at 4k.

You can detach the graph window and then stretch it across your desktop, this allows you to see a longer time period. Good for seeing what the card was doing in various places.

they might run it on 1080, but with verry low textures.

if i would turn down the graphics it will still look better on pc.

Question. Which device produced which image out of the following?

Yes, and now we get down to the bread and butter! the consoles get hot too! I do not run my GPU on water yet, however I really would like to place CPU and GPU in a water loop. I live in the tropics and as you know its hot 24/7 Night temp are around 25 - 26 C and my PC are like a heat fan. If it was in a cold area I would save money on the heat bill for sure. :D

Whoa there are xbox games running at 720? never heard. Fallout 4 at least is already running at 1080 on xbox, probably some others also.

Fallout 4 is one of the very few games to actually run at 1080p on the Xbox One but it suffers for it. The majority of games on the Xbox One run at a resolution just slightly below 1080p that's then upscaled to fit 1080p on your TVs. Does it make much of a difference? Not really unless you're really running a hard on for the best resolution possible/best FPS possible. If you're not looking to max everything out and just want to play the game it doesn't matter.

In the end though consoles just suck. If I'm going to play a game I want the experience to be as smooth and flawless as possible. You can't get that with big gpu intensive games on a console. PS4 gets close with some games but they have to draw back view distance and seriously limit textures to do it.
