Thanks zecumbe! I think it will be hilarious to watch how these anti-griefing mechanics play out (and possibly backfire)
So there is still no persistence implemented nor any relevant content expansions in 2.2, but the only thing you could really do in the tech demo (PvP) now results in being kicked from the server? Indeed hilarious!

Things have gone way Deadpool style, it's freaking scary the textures and then it feels like the skin is burnt and there's blood everywhere, dear lord xD

I find the idea on how to treat criminals pedantic.
Changes show some improvements in general though.

Still don't feel like I want to play it since I'll probably spend more time downloading it than actually playing it.

Be interesting to see how that stuff pans out - and if it appears to have any influence on FD and criminality.

Also have to share this - posted by Fuctifino on the SA thread - best actual lol I've had from a forum this year!

Posted with the tagline..

I hope not! Timeouts from gameplay are a horrible idea.

ROFL :D
CIG's alpha maximum fidelity physics have been a neverending source for Goon's creativity.
Another positive is that it sometimes distracts them from Ben's weight.

The layout is set as it is as the idea is really go with spawn points based on your reputation. The timeout is pretty much a place-holder.

That defines the whole layout, for example the whole Nyx land-able zone is considered outlaw, once there's such places added to the universe with law and outlaw areas things will get interesting.

But, over that, there is plans for prisons on the game. I mean, there is actual ships that do have prison cells to lock other players up, so let's see!

Yeah, I know, many things are a place-holder.co.uk
It's still a bad gameplay idea.

That really depends on how they implement it. It's really easy to get it wrong.
Archeage has a court/prison system and even though it's a cool concept, it's pretty bad gameplay wise imo.

I disagree. If you want to grief Port Olisar like the goons did recently, you will quickly find yourself with increasing respawn times and eventually kicked from the server. If you want to play as a criminal CIG has given you the tools to do so. You can shut down comm arrays to draw other players and the ability to lower your wanted status. Next they will have to figure out how to deal with griefs who intentionally place themselves in front of other ships to cause the innocent ones to be labeled as wanted. We have seen this in ED from griefe......er mechanic testers, like the ones who found a place in a station where they could shoot other ships but could not be shot by security or other players. Looks like testing the alpha PU will be fun.

Timeouts don't work unless you are stupid enough to put yourself through it. Anyone on a timeout is playing SC, this means they are sitting at a PC which means they can watch a sci-fi short, check their e-mails or the news headlines or even post in the forum about how timeouts don't work. If they feel really energetic they could go get a coffee and come back with a hot drink to find their time had been served.

I don't see the timeout thing working, unless you tie people to their chairs and stop them switching windows or using multiple monitors. Daft idea.

It's a difference of griefing and crime for now. Once they have some outlaw spawning point, outside Olisar, separation can be made.

It's mostly something to do for now because everybody will spawn in Olisar, criminals or not. So just see this as a bandage over abusive behavior until things further iterate.

I know for CR this idea of crime, prisons and everything is big on his wants for SC, i myself find odd i can lock other player on my ship...and do things? Slavery? Oh dear my imagination :p

My goal will find you, lock you up and sell you to slavery. #Milestone

Yes you can wait it out easily. If someone is griefing another player over and over the shot time out will allow the player to spawn his ship and leave the area while the griefer sits it out for a minute or two. It's all rudimentary and far from final game mechanics but it will give us something to play with and CIG to gather data on. We will also get to test the beginnings of the ships components such as the power plants and coolers.

What makes this more amusing is that those "goons" now dictate CIG's development priorities and gameplay mechanics, instead of Chris Roberts' own plans and promises to backers. :D
