CQC Already cheaters? maybe?

I didn't know it was possible to cheat in ED. Some come down to skill which is clearly seen, but this level 47 player has some how managed to do reverse boost a few times.

He would come to a complete stop "instantly" (full reverse thrust cannot stop as fast as he is doing) and "instantly" do a 180 and boost towards you and kill you, i guess I will stay away from Arena now after seeing that. Even in the smaller ships this isn't 100% not possible.

Unless I'm missing something, but I've played this game for a fair while now and never seen any kind of thing before.

Depends on how he does it, if he's thrusting vertical or horizontal (left/right) then it is indeed possible to do a near instant reversing of your direction, since you can boost up/down and use that to counter and make quite advanced moves.

Elite is p2p ( peer to peer ) game... It's chacker's paradise! And you never know what is cheat and what is p2p bug...

How can you boost up or down? i need to know this!!!

If you boost while thrusting up, down or sideways, the boost will be directed through your thrusters. Also you can switch FA off. throttle to zero and spin round to face the opposite direction. Then FA on and boost. Instant change of direction. No cheating needed.

Really? Wow, you learn something new every day. I've been spending some time trying to learn to fly FA-off and this I have not tried.

It also could be network lag. I have seen occasions when a Wingman has stopped for a moment or two, and then shot off in a new direction. At the same time there was a break in voice communications.

Already?? There have been cheaters since cqc (arena) was added 6-7 months ago.

Personally i haven´t met cheaters in cqc, but i have seen evidence of it in some videos/twitch streams. Usually cheater take no damage or something like that. Movement cheaters i haven´t never heard of. It is really hard to tell how other ships are moving and you can change direction of your movement easily.

Was it a Condor? Or an imperial fighter? Because a boosted FA-off turn if done just right can be an almost instant flip.. Oh and are you sure they were boosting backwards or did they boost forwards, slide past you and then flip as they passed to keep firing while FAoffing backwards.. probably not cheating.

OP, this supposed cheater who could stop instantly and boost backwards, wasn't he by chance in the Imp fighter? :)
You can stop the Imperial fighter in less than a second and the way the ship is designed makes it very hard to tell which way it's facing.

Oh yeah, all those times I got blown up before even being able to turn to face my attacker was all due to hackerz, I'm positive! Can't possibly have to do with me playing via a shoddy PS3 Controller and never bothering to learn FA/off :D

So yeah, in general 'moving' doesn't need to be cheating, they use more obvious ones then those, shield not going down and similar weirdness though not sure what sort of anti cheat is getting used.

Yes, exactly. I only encountered two suspected cheats - Shields go down to a point but wouldn't drop, and two-hit kill weapons.
But nothing really groundbreaking. Plus it really was just these two occasions in all my experience, so I wouldn't worry.

Besides- So what? Let them have their "fun". There aren't even proper leaderboards where they could boast. :D

2-hit kill weapons? It isn't cheat, those are called cannons. Best weapon in game.

Probably not a cheater. I've got over 130 hours in CQC/Arena now and I have yet to see a single player I thought was actually cheating. Most of the problems I see are lag and p2p desyncing, which is where most of the "can't damage x pilot" claims come from. As far as maneuverability, the imp fighter CAN stop almost immediately, and depending on far-off or boosting or a whole slew of other factors they can turn very quickly, much faster than the condor cam at least.

I have seen a couple of actual real cheaters. Luckily I was in the same game with some other good players, and they also noticed it. We were both blasting the guy for a solid minute (heat warnings and all). And the shield didn't even lose a single ring. At the same time he was shooting someone else. His skill was non-existent so he still ended up in the bottom of the group but it was sad none the less.

I can pretty much flip an imp fighter in short order, which is a lot of fun to be honest. Also remember you are moving in relation to the other guy, so if he is watching what you are doing and matching his movement accordingly, it can seem he is flipping 180 while its not a 180 per se, but a relative 180.

Have seen a dozen "obvious cheaters" (invincible shields, invincible hull, one-shot-to-kill weapons) and perhaps another dozen of "highly suspected" players (weapons more powerful than they should be, apparent 4 pips in SYS while firing lasers continuously, etc).
There are also plenty of discussions on Internet regarding how to hack in CQC...

So yes - it is a "hackers paradise". The only thing that keeps the hackers away is apparent uselessness of the Arena/CQC. (Not much in-game money, no global leader-board and nobody really believes in the $100K tournament..) So most hackers tried it, got bored and moved on.

just a quick question, what should the appropriate way tonreport a cheater, the ingame report form? and what about a cheat? is there any oficial way to do?

You can creat a support ticket and provide the evidence that you have aquired.

One report will not get a player banned, but multiple reports showing a consistent behaviour is obviously the way to have the account scrutinised.

Do not expect any replies or further responses from FD concerning these sorts of reports. They do not discuss ban actions in general and definitely not specific cases.
