News Frontier trading update.

The PC version has exactly the same problem. We are being treated just as badly as you :(

I assume that the server-side "fix" coming to the PC (disabling of broken missions) will affect you as well.

This is what I don't understand if they can fix the missions so easily server side why have we been playing a broken game since before the new year?

I'm sorry but how are we being badly treated? Also turning missions off that don't work is not fixed.

Didn't know that the PC game had all these same problems. I thought Horizons was a completely different version of the game, thus not the same as what the XB1 has right now. Only those on the PC who have not upgraded to Horizons are running the same game we have on the XB1. No? If that is the case, this makes this even more difficult to understand. Why can't a mission specific patch be released to at least let us play the game we have properly/completely until Horizons comes out?

And I agree with other comments... Disabling the broken missions IS NOT A FIX! That is a LOSS of content we were supposed to have access to months ago!

I have often wondered if the problems with these missions could be fixed on the server side without requiring a new client on the XB1 itself. But if that is true, WHY is it taking them so long to make those changes?

My copy of the game seems to do everything it should in these missions. Is it just the game components on the server itself that fails to recognize the "mission specific" item you now have in your cargo hold is the same item the mission requires and not some random cargo item unrelated to the mission?

I really hope they are not going to make us endure this current version for another 3-4 months! That would set a very bad president for how Xbox games are usually updated and maintained. I can't recall another XB1 game with this many outstanding issues that has been left to languish for even the 2.5 months we have already been forced to wait for a fix!

There are also a host of other problems besides the mission issues that would be nice to see addressed as well.

Not good! :(

Well despite what I wrote a crafting system is a big thing, though it is the wording of "colossal" that has me confused a bit, I mean yes crafting systems are a big part of games, but used to create stuff with different stats or similar? or more? .....or ? we really need more information, because speculations are going wild.

I would think that the massive missions and BGS update has something to do with it.

Well, that gives me a good reason not to upgrade my rig too soon :) IMHO I prefer this over a half ass job resulting from a deadline. As long as it is not turning into "When It's Done"
.

A few more sneak peeks would be great though [squeeeee]

They are not fixing them, just making it so you don't get them. Big difference

Just look to GG7's posts hes saying everything I feel much more eloquently than I can.
Just to be clear I'm on xbox and if fd just gave up on us I would be gutted but I would also have had the best value for money gaming experience on the xbox so far.
That being said broken missions for close to six months is a poor way to treat loyal customers .
I must of misunderstood what zach said they are just going to turn the broken missions off and not put working ones in their place?
Edit never mind vernonator has answered...awesome guess ED is going to be gathering dust for a few months. I just how there is still a community when I come back.

Well, I'm disappointed at the delay as I was really looking forward to playing 2.1

However, I would take a delay and less bugs and issues any day over a rushed release that will simply break what we have now and upset lots of folks. For what it's worth I think FD have done the right thing to delay and spend more time on getting it right.

Dev's take your time and get it right for us. Your efforts are appreciated.

I just want to welcome all PC players to how Xbox players feel about Horizons. At least you have a more firm date on release.

It's OK mate, a lot of PC players have experienced game developers who made their name and reputation producing games for the PC abandon it completely and switch to producing titles which are either console exclusive, or get a second rate port to the PC a year after the console release, so I can assure you we're well aware of how you feel.

Indeed. That's like 'fixing' your broken down car by burning it out and pushing it off a cliff.

Engineers is Colossal....So was PowerPlay. Oooeerrrr

Happy to get quality code rather than some half-baked buggy stuff that was rushed to meet an artificial date (like an Xmas Sales opportunity for example).

Fingers crossed for a trouble-free beta with few bugs.

I have no problems with postponing the engineer addon.
But I am very disappointed to hear that they will leave us another three months with the game in the current state, which is what I infer from FD's statement. At least they could give us some fixes for the countless bugs still existing in the current version.
In the past, FD delivered regular patches and bugfixes, weekly or every two weeks. This came to an end some months ago, which makes me quite anxious, that something's wrong with the team or the companie's economic well-being.

I don't think anything is excluding more patches, but there's a limit to what you can fix with small patches, but I wouldn't count out just yet, I'm a bit bummed myself, but I'm still very eager to see what is to come, even it its current state, Elite keeps me playing and keeps me returning to it. So yeah, bugs are frustrating, very much so, but despite that, I am still enjoying myself.

or they bite off more... :)

Braben is right, their track of staying on rails is good. The reasons to delay I can think of is either economical (let bad year stay bad and get more income in the next one, which would mean preparation for much worse times) or they developed something to the plans but it turned out to be very bad and need redo (which would mean delay and delivering much smaller part of what was planned and dismissed).

At least that is how it'd look at our company given the statement :)

Disappointed yes .. Surprised .. No

This is what happens in game development. If FD had released 2.1 as a buggy mess then people would have complained. Now they are releasing it later than expected to make sure it isn't, and people complain.

FD can't win. Sometimes I wish FD had just said at the beginning 'it will be ready in 5 years, get over it'.

In the end its something to look forward to and it gives me an excuse to step away from the game for a couple of months. But of course the doom and gloom people start their usual rhetoric. Also to those worried about FD's finances, they have plenty of spare money in the bank.

Or it could - you know - be exactly what they say it is - a quality pass on a huge update.

From my egocentric perspective, that is very timely! I'm upgrading the farm with an SLI-rig, so can test on ye olde laptop as well as the new beast.

I'm glad FD is taking their time getting things right. There will be plenty of bugs to report even if the job isn't rushed, with an undertaking of this size.

Thanks for the update!

:D S

Isnt 6 months considered as a big gap between updates considering there are 4 more to come this year? Its not like they are making 3.0 its just an add on and 6 months wait is too long
