Complete List of (real) Nebulae and Galaxies in Elite

I've changed the title to make it clearer. Does anyone have any to add or have I found 'em all? :)

Also I would REALLY like some discussion about the galaxies!

I have two more planetary nebulae to add, both of which are unreachable: the Blue Snowball Nebula and the White Eyed Pea. The view from the latter would be absolutely stunning, but it's far beyond our reach.

For when you resume updating the thread: the Little Gem nebula is also reachable now, although it's not an easy journey. But that's what makes it fun.

Only thing I need for these new nebulae are distance from sol. Anyone still in the bubble or have a second account and can head to sol and get me the distances?

I'm not near Sol right now, but the coordinates should do as the calculated error should be small enough. They are as follows:

White Eyed Pea: -3880, 7841, 8220
Blue Snowball: -5020, -1664, -1490

So, the distances would be approximately 12000 ly for the White Eyed Pea, and 5500 ly for the Blue Snowball.

Another planetary nebula for the list, the Phantom Streak (BD-00 3630). It's entirely reachable, and its coordinates are -3610, -307, 5400. The approximate distance from Sol would be 6500 ly then.

Alright I'll add them in later. You are right, with a bit of trig we can work out the distance. I'll confirm when at Sol

I have something new to add, and the exact distances from Sol for earlier. The new one is the G2 Dust Cloud: more info on it here. The distance from Sol is 27900 ly. (G2 Dust Cloud Sector JH-V C2-2851 is 27900.62 ly away.) As such, it's the most distant non-procedural nebula from Sol.
I also have the following distances:

Blue Snowball Nebula (BD+41 4773): 5500.02 ly - unreachable
White Eyed Pea (BD+12 2966): 11999.98 ly - unreachable
Phantom Streak (BD-00 3630): 6500.00 ly - reachable

Funny how round those numbers are.

One more nebula to add: the Parrot's Head (Barnard 87), a very small and faint one that's 1000 ly from Sol. (Parrot's Head Sector CQ-Y D76 is 998.58 ly away.) There's no central star, and it's reachable of course.

Found it by accident on my first trip out but https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/NGC_1360 Robin's Egg Nebula is system designation CD-26 1339 in game.

Here is the system map. It is actually a great place to check out, and someone else who found it first got it in to Universal Cartographics as the current record holder for most M class stars in one system IIRC

Ok OP updated with all the new nebulae to date. New table for nebulae reachable only via jump mats (or theoretically reachable via jump mats). Please go over it and double check I got it right, submitters!

Cool, just need the distance from Sol.

Thanks for sharing!

I am 11 kylies out of the bubble right now, but Wikipedia lists 2 distances 1,145 ly and 1,794 ly(not sure why)

I think when I was there I checked the distance to Sol and it was in the 1100's but I am not 100% on that. I just tried to figure it out using geometry from my current position and failed miserably :D

I did my vector magnitude calculation from the rough coordinates and got 1,146, so you are probably right, it's 1,145! Will update now
