[DISTANT WORLDS] Stage 5 Itinerary & Events, Important News, and Fleet Roster Additions

Updating the member tracker and using and keeping EDSM updated should have been mandatory for every cmdr. :D
Any kind of roll call would be a waste of time imo, as theres numerous cmdrs who signed on this trip but who hasnt written a single post about their ongoing trip to forums here..

Well, pretty much by definition every CMDR on the trip reads the forums, so we're all aware of the 65kly club. They want a screenshot showing distance, so we can use that to keep track of who made it to BP. While I suppose there are some folks who won't care about getting into the 65kly club, I imagine most will take their screenies and join the rolls.

No, since its in Open. While in Kamzel you should consider yourself allied to everyone else you see in Kamzel, no matter where you are or what you're doing. Its to be used purely for group exploration so I'd expect those who use Kamzel group after DW will be out exploring, not looking for PvP.

Edit: I'll clarify that bit on the post I made.

Thank you sir!

Probably not an exact number but possibly a rough percentage will be available once its all done and dusted. The various fleet trackers will give an idea of who made it, but we'd have to find out what percentage of the fleet actually used the trackers.

If someone wants to set up a Beagle Point roll call thread, and have fleet members post screenshots of their presence there, and compile a list - then please do. :)

And done. :) Roll call thread here.

The Corvette's jump range is getting to me... 72 jumps per kylie. And it'll only get worse. I almost wonder if 2nd April is too early for some of us slow coaches. I will be able to spare 5 days before that date entirely to jonking, though.

If we do any future expeditions, can we make them shorter (at least the next one or two)? Such as to the western side of the galaxy?

Though I left early and wasn't directly part of the DW event as I had concerns whether I can keep up (RL and jump range issues), I'm very much looking forward to the final gathering at BP, where I've already arrived at.

The effort the organizers made is nothing short of spectacular, I know countless of hours were invested from your precious free time - all I can say is many thanks!

Got Mugs, have gin. Admittedly not as much as when we departed, but there's enough to go round when we get there.

Well, I have an enforced absence due to RL this weekend from friday through to sunday evening, so I'm on my way to WP21. I'm hoping to get to WP21 for the meet up. And hoping that the matchmaking doesn't freak out again like it did tonight! That really hacked me off tonight. I was hoping to join in with the SRV rally! Alas, it was not to be tonight. WP21 on monday: Check.

Oh, btw, I sooo want to take part in the SRV shenanigens at BP. I have 4 left and, time permitting, will be happy to be a 'target' on the various 'get the SRV' type activities :)

While I am sure it is too late, is there a way for a CMDR like me who started late and is currently at WP20 to get in on the Kamzel group? Or at least get on the ending roster?

Once I get out to Beagle I am going to enjoy all the festivities for the duration of people being there. But after all that, I am seriously thinking of doing the return trip on my own. Completely alone.

I have thoroughly enjoyed the company of all you fantastic CMDRs in DWE, it has been the gaming experience of a lifetime - completely unique for any game I have ever heard of (and I have been gaming since the 1980's). But I have missed out on one particular aspect of the exploration experience - namely that of being completely alone and just going wherever you fancy at the moment. Keeping up with the fleet has forced me to stay the course - it is nothing I regret, to the contrary, I would never have gotten the experiences I have gotten if I hadn't! But I also want to have the experience of traveling the furthest reaches from Sol completely isolated, with no meetups, no wise advice from the experienced pilots, no friendly banter with my fellow fleet members. Just being fully on my own at the far end of the galaxy, knowing that the fleet and all my friends are laying kylie upon kylie in a different direction than mine.

I hope none of you wonderful people I have met on this adventure take any offense of my plan; it is in no way because I don't like your company! I hope you understand my wish for a different kind of experience, one that I will be in a unique position to take advantage of at the far end of the galaxy:

Being alone.

And if I go stark raving space-crazy I will just blow my SRV and teleport home! :)

Those of us like you and I who started late are able to get on the final roster once we reach BP provided we do it before June 1st(I think) but Kamzel is closed for joining as far as I know.

Prospectors Key Event at The Roncevaux Crossing (WP 21) for Saturday 19th March and Sunday 20th March

On Monday 21st March the bulk of the fleet should be arriving at the southern edge of the Abyss at the Roncevaux Crossing basecamp. Prior to this, over the weekend, we would like to encourage fleet prospectors to begin arriving at the Roncevaux Crossing a little earlier than the stated day and time, begin prospecting in and around the basecamp system and post their findings in the Fleet Prospecting Service thread so the incoming fleet can use Monday's rendezvous as a convenient "Jumpoinuim Gathering" event. Alternatively anyone currently short of materials can join the advanced prospecting event organized by CMDR Eisen and use the coming weekend to gather all they need.

This weekends 'prospector event' in detail - by CMDR Eisen

Course of events:

  1. Prospectors meetup at the WP 21 location
  2. Forming of several wings, each of them lead by one experienced prospector / rock-rat

  • Several J 1 – wings, those will only search for J1-mats
  • J 2/3 – wings, those will search for the rarer mats if needed
  • Instancing-issue resolving

  1. Flight to the pre-prospected planets and landings
  2. Prospecting together for 1-2 hours
  3. Event ends

Time:

  • 8 pm GMT for Europe (Hosts: CMDRs Greytest, Lyneira, Domaq, Nightstrider, Eisen)
  • 2 am GMT for US (Hosts: CMDRs IDragox, Greytest, Eisen and hopefully Michael Darkmoor)

Comms:

  • We propose the Discord Prospectors Text-Chat and Voice-Chat as a main-meeting place. Alternative will be the ingame-chat-option for those not in Discord. After formation of the wings they switch to the available-wing-channels or stay in the ingame-text-chat.

The easiest way for interested commanders to find out who is prospecting and where is to have a look at the Discord '#prospectors-channel' and ask for a wing-up. Alternatatively use the in-game chat; people should text CMDRs Greytest, Domaq, Star_Crusider, Lyneira, Nightstrider or Eisen. If they are online there is good chance that they are prospecting.

After having visited quickly the base camp WP 20, I fly instantly ahead to base camp WP 21 for my first meetup with the legendary ROCK RATS on Friday! ;)

That's right - Kamzel is closed, but you can enter the final roster here as long as you arrive before June 1, 3302.

Kamzel is currently closed for the time being, but you can join Erimus group. It has around 250 members. Its for latecomers and unregistered players and is there to help with instancing and meeting players at basecamps. Apply in game and I'll add you to it (and anyone else who has tagged along and done the trip solo to this point).

Obviously there's no guarantee you'll still meet players this far from home now as I'm not sure how many in Erimus are still with us.

As for the roster, yes you can still be added to it if you make it to Beagle Point and post a screenshot with your details in the Roll Call Thread.

I know how you feel. Solo exploration still draws us in as there's nothing like being alone out in the void at times. I think DW has offered something that was lacking up to this point, a large scale social adventure, and its been far better than we imagined it would be so far. So hopefully with the establishment of FleetCom, and a blueprint for large scale expeditions, we explorers can now have the best of both worlds - our solo journeys and the occasional large scale get-together to do some crazy stuff. :)

I've mentioned in the OP that the 10,000 LY journey between the Sublustris Beacon and Beagle Point (WP22 to WP23) should be done alone (for some of the reasons you mentioned - experiencing the isolation and sheer distance you've come is something that's best done alone for this particular final leg of the trip). Then party at Beagle afterwards!

If you look back at the original posts that mooted the idea of a group exploration out to Beagle Point (well not the ORIGINAL original posts.... that was just a loony bunch 'aving a laff) it was specifically to get people out to the farside (TM) and let them loose.

You are doing exactly what was intended.

Erimus is Mother
Erimus is Father

Obviously there's no guarantee you'll still meet players this far from home now as I'm not sure how many in Erimus are still with us.
The last WP I've met enough Explorers in Open to fill a good instance, although I was too tired to land.
In Erimus I have seen none which is a pity since it's not possible to make HIRES-Screenshots in Open...
