Hi everyone,

In light of recent issues relating to the way a small collective of players have been approaching and targeting specific private groups and other community events such as charity livestreams, we wanted to reinforce an important part of the existing rules regarding in-game harassment that every player agrees to when creating their account.

We wanted to reiterate some examples regarding the rules of Player harassment. If a player has been blocked from a private group, or a group/individual has taken every step possible to remove a player from their gameplay, then attempting to circumvent this in any fashion is a serious offense and action will be taken accordingly. Attempting to re-establish contact with an individual who has blocked a player through secondary accounts or other methods of attempting to evade the block are against the rules. Action can and will be taken against both the accounts in question and the main accounts of players that we deem to be harassing players through this method.

In addition taking action such as seeking out and targeting specific players purely for the purpose of being disruptive, to cause offence, or to upset players within the community can also be considered harassment. A perfect example of this is deliberately attempting to disrupt public livestreams such as the charity ones mentioned before. This includes, but is not limited to, the capturing of footage and releasing it publically in an attempt to create upset or gain notoriety through the actions listed above.

We have previously stated, and it remains true, that Frontier are not able to manage group specific rules. Players considered to be breaking these group rule sets as established by group moderators should be removed from those groups by said moderators. In addition, running a livestream in Open does invite the potential for players to approach and impact your gameplay and running a livestream in which you are declaring war on another group and they come and take action against you is reasonable and should be expected.

Ultimately it’s about context. The support team can and will review these kinds of offences and will be taking action against accounts that set their entire purpose on harassing players and groups in this way. They are currently investigating a number of incidents and will be dealing directly with any parties involved.

The Frontier Support team take the protection and safety of the community very seriously, they strive to ensure that the game remains fair and friendly. If you feel the need to report an incident, please do get in contact with support via our support site at https://support.frontier.co.uk - please include as much detail of the event as possible.

The main thing that strikes me about this is that Frontier are making this unnecessarily hard on themselves.

I respect they can't enforce group rules directly, but when deliberately trying to go against them and get around bans is harrassment, they are put in the position of having to enforce group rules by proxy anyway.

When it gets to that point, surely the need for official support for a popular game mode is a no-brainer!

From Reddit:

'Do you think this is the only group we have infiltrated? This is just the most high profile for us to get the most attention and salt and tears, rest assured we have plans of blowing up everywhere and anywhere, we're proving how broken this game is in every respect and I think our input into highlighting the problems of this game makes us worth our weight in salt

Seems pretty clear. Only question is will Frontier do what they say they will? Time will tell.

FD just need to stop wings and most of these people will crawl back under their stones.
I am happy to take on any ship one v one but it is always one v four.

pvp isnt fair, there's no rules that say "only 1v1's when pvp'ing" each player / team / whatever is looking to win, and will use any advantage to obtain such a win, that is life

That is funny to hear since all we seem to hear from PVPers is how everything else isn't fair.. yet when mentioned PVP.. oh .. it is supposed to be that way..

Edit: Oh.. and if you want PVP.. as in Players vs (key word there.. versus) Players where you can "win" .. I recommend shooting at those who can fight back and not unarmed traders and new players.. that isn't PVP

All well and good if you get stream sniped in a private group.
But in Open, it's still anybody's game.

Early last year before Wings. The Code was dropping wings into low wakes all night long.
Will make no difference, there will always be better, smarter, more devious players.

Thanks for that depressing reminder of how small the player base is.

The suggestion to stop playing for a week, was in itself no good.
To shoot one self in the foot to make a point, is something very few are willing to do.

This is the worst post I've ever seen without a shadow of a doubt.

I am going to play extra hard during this week to make a stand for a) players that balls up and accept that stuff happens, or b) players that use this thing called private play.

You are preaching to the converted. There's already a play mode just for people like you. I don't get any of this crying.

It's place 88 in the overall Steam played today. 5 places above "the elder scrolls online"?

I'd take those with a few grains of salt. One it doesn't show stats for people who didn't buy from steam (like me). And of those two populations (direct vs steam buyers) I'd guess that the retention rate is lower among steam players.

Doesn't mean the steam data isn't relevant, just that it might be misleading.

I do find it interesting that it's neck and neck with Kerbal and Space Engineers (Space-ish games) yet at 1/10 the per day stats of Ark (vaguely similar-ish in terms of sandboxy). Might just mean 90% of folks like dinosaurs more than space ships. http://steamcharts.com/cmp/359320,346110,220200,244850
