The interesting thing here is that some seem to think the following logic makes sense,
1. I have my definition of how people "should" play
2. If anyone doesnt play how I want them to I will shoot at them (if my ship is bigger/more powerful)
3. I am not a bully, I let people play how they want.
It seems obvious to me that 3 is a contradiction of 1 and 2. I have no problem with this by the way, as I choose not to play in open anyway so it cannot affect me. I just find it interesting, its basicaly a fundamental fault with ED that "low level" players (by which i mean players in a weak ships) share open with billionaires flying pimped out "high level" ships. In every other MMO I have played this is not the case, some MMOs seperate players (based on level), some prevent high levels from attacking low levels etc. ED allows people to play in solo or groups, I guess this is the solution, its not broken, its by design.
1.Not my definition, generally accepted rule of online gaming.
2.If I want to shoot at someone it doesn't matter what ship I'm in.
3.You can play how you want, so can I, we both have to deal with the consequences, if I kill someone there's no guarantee they won't come looking for me in a bigger ship or a wing.
Weak ships has absolutely nothing to do with anything, far more important is player skill, I have been killed by better players than me in much lesser ships than I was in at the time, same as I have killed players in better ships than me, (this happens less often, if we're evenly matched I'm usually ok, but I'm not any kind of PVP legend that wins every fight I'm in.)
PVP is allowed in open, we are not talking about Mobius here, and it is allowed for any reason, certainly it's allowed if someone breaks the usual codes of etiquette, and not everyone is a frightened of PVP as you obviously are, for some of us it's a fun part of the game that actually adds realism, that's why we play in open, if you're happy in solo then great, play how you like, I'm glad you're enjoying yourself, but leave us open players to play how we like too.
No one is talking about killing noobs apart from you, if a player is obviously too new to know any better then they get a polite warning (from me anyway), but that wouldn't go for a player in a vulture, if you're in a vulture you should know the rules, and I would have to assume that if you break them you're looking for a fight, in fact that's often how I pick a fight if I want one, you might win, I might win, that's the point of PVP.
Fact is we're never going to agree on this, and to be quite honest, I don't see why you care anyway since you don't play in open.
I'll play the game how I want to play it, like it or don't like it, come get me if you want, but I'm not going to tell you you're doing it wrong, pretty poor show from you to say that to me or anyone else, especially since we're never going to meet in game.
A source of constant arguments on these forums is solo players trying to change open, and open players trying to change or get rid of solo or tempt solo players into open, as far as I'm concerned everyone can play in whatever mode they like, and I think it would be out of order for me to try and change the way the game is played in a mode I don't use, I don't even think it's cool for me to try to change the way other people play their game in modes I do use.
You're entitled to your opinion, but if it's actually on something that you have no experience of or related to something that doesn't affect you at all then everyone else is just as entitled to ignore it.
