Day 125 completed:

ok, so another very successful night collecting mats with the Rocking Rock Rats, including Traveller_GG. We relocated to a new system (IORANT QO-X B28-0 planet A8) where we found a bunch of polonium (a bunch being about 3...a good haul) and some cadmium and niobium.

I also managed to narrowly escape a pancaking from Traveller_GG, who in his exuberance to join us bounced his 'conda off the mat I was about to collect ;) Fortunately he didn't have his cargo scoop deployed or he would have stolen the bloody thing too!

I am now down to needing something like (don't have access to exact numbers right now):

20 Germanium
20 Cadmium

Once again thanks to all who helped, plus all the other prospectors on the discord prospectors channel, who made the evening entertaining...

I have discovered two manoeuvres performed by the Rock Rats since watching Baroness Galaxy:

1) the Prospector Spin where they go around in a circle in the horizontal plane trying to pick up signals for mats
2) then there is the Prospector Roll where they go around in a circle in the vertical plane (or any other plane) usually due to going to fast, hitting a rock of rolling down the wall of a crater on the dark side of a moon.

Just my observations ;)

Both very useful maneuvers: The Prospector Spin (when done correctly) keeps you moving in the same direction the whole time (Very well executed BTW, Baroness !! ;) ). The Prospector Roll (sometimes full pitch or flip depending on where that dang rock came from...) is supposed to get you back on your wheels before you hit the ground. It's... a... pretty hard to practice that one.... you either get it right the first time.... or ... ah... end up calling the ship :D

Baroness executes both very well...and it's always fun watching him trying to get up after falling upside down. :)

I made absolutely sure you'd heard before starting the descent proper, and I pretty much had time to abort or faceplant if you'd moved at all.

GG = Grey Ghost which was a moniker used to show Wing Commander gamers over the age of 30. I kept it partly as a homage to a great series of games and because it's unique for present game name purposes.

I've named my Anaconda "The Grey Ghost"

Just teasing Cmdr Traveller_GG...you gave ample warning and didn't come anywhere near me...Baroness Galaxy on the other hand had a different view I'm sure ;)

Frawd, I just read you might make it to BP today. I would not promise anything over the week due to the time difference, but unless you have better options, I could help you on Saturday to collect mats for the way back. I even invited my mother-in-law for the weekend to help out with the kids, so that I can be around for the big event. :)

I'll probably leave BP on Saturday evening or latest on Sunday. Been there for weeks now, and with the new GPU in place, I can't wait to hit the road again!

Hi Frawd

Glad to hear all is going well. I made it to BP yesterday with my 22.8ly full tank. I got to where you were just as I had to log off or I would have come over to say hi.

I used Alitnil's route here https://forums.frontier.co.uk/showthread.php?t=198085&p=3696931&viewfull=1#post3696931

I discovered that I could get from CEECKIA BQ-W C18-0 to CEECKIA QJ-P C22-0 without any boosted jumps. Saved 3 basic boosts. On the way out I'm going to see if I can get out without any boosts from CEECKIA QJ-P C22-0. It is easier to find your way out than in lol.

Oh boy...that was awesome...finally made it to BP, after 125 days out of the bubble...in a freakin' sidewinder!
Thanks to all who came with me...Eisen, Travella_GG, Cula-Ta, Iron Orchid, Olfart, Petracleus. Of course while he wasn't with us on the last jump Baroness Galaxy is also worth of great mention..he was my main-stay with mat collection!
And yes I screwed up on the final jump in...pressed the jump button again, not thrusters! Doh! But is was cool to watch...and I will post a video.

I seem to have a problem now. ED crashed to desktop when I when I was trying to land and now I can't log in Kamzel without crashing. Solo and Open seem fine.

Glad you have arrived safely and sorry I left early (beyond my control though). Hopefully it's a network glitch which will clear.
