Diaguandri - Ray Gateway is a convenient place to buy and outfit such ship.

Warning: The ship doesn't have a fuel scoop and there is a 180Ly gap between the bubble and Maia. The best way to cross the gap is to refuel at 49 Arietis (or one of the other border systems) and then plot the path to Maia with cargo set high enough to have enough fuel for the trip (do double check). Alternatively you can make part of the trip in economy mode.

Once in Maia refuel and travel to you favorite barnacle site, I'm using the five barnacle crater:


I just collect meta-alloys from all five barnacles, relog, repeat and then the cargo hold is full.

Collecting meta-alloy:
Beam laser the meta-alloy pod. Three things can happen:
  1. Meta-alloy fragment launches high. Scoop it from air.
  2. Meta-alloy fragment launches too low to safely scoop. Ram it so it gains more altitude or at least it falls outside barnacle site so you can scoop it from ground.
  3. Meta-alloy fragment drops like a rock. You should be able to poke it with the tip of your ship into open space and scoop it from the ground. It's up to you to decide whether it is worth the effort.

Then you have to deliver your harvest to Maia - that's a flight full of adrenaline as you are just a hauler full of valuable cargo in a system full of pirates :]

Looks like we are averaging at about 1000t an hour
Tier 4 should be 100k, tier 5 looks like it might be 130k
44 hours left, if we continue at current rate we might just reach tier 5! :D

Besides that, the Metaalloy CGs have the worst "game mechanic" (if you want to call CMDR Loginoutski a "game mechanic") i have ever seen in a game...

You shame me Cmdr. I collected 200T and my brain had started to melt.
I gave up at that point as I assumed the remaining tiers were just for money (for which I care not)
However in the light of the fact that a 2T cargo rack has just been unlocked. I will endeavour to find some mental fortitude and return to the grind stone. I'm not looking forward to it.

I'm hoping that those players with the big ships (but partially filled cargo) decide to sell what they've got tonight.
That should give a blip to the numbers.

I'm stopping at 350t.

CG completion galnet is out:

The Pioneers Cooperative has announced that the recent appeal for meta-alloys has received the full support of the galactic community. Having taken delivery of thousands of tonnes of meta-alloys, the organisation will now begin producing ship modules that can safely transport the Unknown Artefacts. A spokesperson for the Pioneers Cooperative released a brief statement:

"Given the relative scarcity of meta-alloys, we were concerned we might not receive enough, but the galactic community has proven itself equal to the task. Work on the new modules is scheduled to start at once."

Meanwhile, Professor Tantaga was asked about the starports experiencing UA-related malfunctions.

"In theory, the UA-resistant material could be used to return the affected starports to normality, but I don't think launching a second campaign for meta-alloys is the right approach. In my opinion, the affected starports should be given the formula for the UA-resistant material, so any meta-alloys they have can be used to protect their outposts."
