Great New Article About Elite Dangerous

Then perhaps it's time for you to take a serious look at Adorno's Cultural Industry.

Until then, feel free to continue to fall in line by the societal elites.

In which language? :p
Maybe it's time you stopped reading books and start learning. :) Always here to help. (and I've removed you from ignore because I don't consider you a lost cause like the rest of the pack :D )

Ok.. lesson one.
If you don't care about something, you don't care about something. Full stop. There's an almost infinite amount of topics I don't care about, but I can't think of any.

If you don't care about an in-game society, but seek it's attention, to prove how little you care by showing how much you care (about the game? ehh, right) and even go so far as to laugh about not caring about someone who's attention you've nicked by stooping in the gutter, when all you have to do is smile, ... ermmm ... it's time to plant some trees.

And Elites? I'm just "Dangerous". Sounds better in my ears. :D

I don't see how playing Arabic music is somehow condoning terror
While I have nothing against arabic music and Muslims, "playing arab music" and shouting "Allahu Akbar" it is offensive, a deliberately provocative behaviour; it's much more than a trollish attitude that should be firmly condemned.

I don't find it offensive, I find it hilarious, and I lost loved ones in 9/11.

Just revoke the irrelevant religionism and you start seeing anyone related to any religion whatsoever as a fool.

Well, if you think about it, these values are distinguished merely by morality of a kind, hence I don't see a difference between the two, especially in a video game.

To an extent you are right. Honour is open to ethical interpretation though the motivation for honour across cultures is largely the same. Notoriety,on the other hand is standard. One is considered positive, the other negative. Personally, I believe we would all do better to celebrate the positive.

For me at least, values are the same in a video game or out of it.

Well, I don't know about their notoriety - none of that has reached me. So for me they're insignificant.

Relativity Confirmed.

Edit to add: You didn't read the article, so of course it didn't reach you.

But you are in this thread because of them..

Whichever one you prefer, doesn't make a difference since language is a convention, as well. Which you might understand better if you read Hobbes' Leviathan or Rousseau's Discourse on Inequality.

Maybe it's time you stopped reading books and start learning.

I haven't met anyone that actually "read" books that fail to learn, this is speaking from TAing experience.

If I don't care about something, I try to understand and learn it. Since ignorance isn't going away by itself.

Hence why I suggested that you read Adorno before making conjectures. I probably care about society and humanity more than most people on this forum, and I wouldn't even call it much of a hyperbole.

Could always have 2 galaxies , one the size of the bubble for pvp and the normal one for pve

I could see that working. Build a proper PvP experience in the bubble around powers and factions. (So a few thousand stars rather than 400 million).
And a seperate PvE mode containing 400m systems.

Very good, If we wish that the current society proceeds in a linear path, we should be reinforcing the perceived positive and punishing the perceived negative.

Can we keep the posts to have relevance to the game please. This is off topic for this part of the forum.

Actually, I believe this is very much on topic and may very well turn out to be the most useful conversation on these forums regarding this subject. You, on the other hand, are a mod and therefore have an opinion on it much more relevant than my own :)

Perhaps Eurogamer will want to do an article on my campaign to bring peace to game forums with the cunning use of bacon.

I'd support that!

the dude from eurogamers would rather make articles about saltyness in video games believe me when I say that. Hats off to this great piece of journalism.

A very good article.

Piracy IS part of the background environment , what needs to be done is the removal of private groups so people can wing up and defend those who do not want to fight ( or are poor at combat ). That is what I would do , JUST AN OPINION , and by the way I am not part of SDC , I am just a bit bored of not seeing anybody .

I did read the entire article, as I thought it only fair to be qualified to post on this most endearing of threads.

Yesterday's news is tomorrow's chip paper.

PVE players in solo/private have an indirect impact on the BGS and PVP players, that's what we don't like. We think it's poorly designed.
