To the far rim in a Sidey

Congrats, Frawd. After following your adventure for months it is great to see you finally succeed. I suggest that a new award be created in your honor. The Kennedy award for exploration, for in the immortal words of JFK, "We choose to go to the Moon in this decade and do the other things, not because they are easy, but because they are hard; because that goal will serve to organize and measure the best of our energies and skills; because that challenge is one that we are willing to accept, one we are unwilling to postpone, and one we intend to win". I nominate Frawd and all the rock rats involved in his success for this honor.

I am humbled by your words Cmdr...however, I am sure there are others in ED who are more deserving of this than me :)

What's the second essential screen-shot Cmdr?

Frawd
Some of that explodey stuff that keeps the non-explorers busy! Seeing what can be done with that first little ship would cast a whole different light on beginning the game - wouldn't have believed it possible. Inspire some dreams

Anything else I could say has been superceded by the Kennedy quote. o7

Hmmm...pity I didn't get a screen grab when I exploded way back at the start of my journey, after hitting the dirt canyon running on (what is now called) Digger's Demise ;) (I didn't have video software on my pc at the time so no video either unfortunately)

Hey there I heard you made it! Congrats!

Thanks Olivia...where are you right now?

Awesome achievement Frawd, truly the stuff of legends. You take care coming home and if i'm around when you get back I'd be honoured to welcome you back and help keep you safe.

Thanks for the offer Cmdr...I will probably take you up on the offer. It will take me some time to figure out how to ask for docking permission, and I'll probably get interdicted in the meantime.

Day 127 Completed:

Decided to take a cruise around the BP system tonight, exploring some of the landable planets.

I ran into Cmdr Simon Woods and we had a meet-up on planet 8.

Here are a couple of pics of the encounter:

Thanks for the meet-up cmdr...two oldies sitting on a rock at BP, thinking back to the days of playing ED on the Commodore 64 and Amiga (at least that's what I was playing it on back in the 80s).

And I almost forgot...on the final jump to BP 2 days ago, Cmdr Cula-Ta read the group his poem "You Brave Explorers" just before we jumped in...he is truly the Poet Laureate of ED.

Thanks again Cmdr...I realy appreciate it.

I caught the reading on video (I didn't control the camera very well as I was listening to the poem)...and apologies for my wife sneezing at the 30 second mark ;)

There are some great shots of your meetings-up, Commander (Jealous ... [knocked out]
I expect there are lots of people looking at the videos, because recently it takes ages for the connection [blah]

Your journey is nothing to be sneezed at commander!

Haaaaachooooooooo

Day 128 Completed:

Had a meet-up with Cmdrs Haji-Me and Johnson Sky...we landed at WP 23 where I demonstrated the cargo scoop collection technique for jumponium materials.

There were also lots of sleeping condas there...they looked like beached metallic whales. ;)

Here are a couple of pics with Cmdr Haji-Me:

Just received the latest ED Newsletter - you are famous! (well, even more famous ;))
I finally was able to watch the video of you collecting Mats - incredible, Commander.
I just wish I could have been there as well; it is one of those 'never to be equalled' occasions.
Brilliant :D

Thanks Cmdr...I am humbled by the attention. But as the Erimus stated, more important than me making it to BP was the community effort to help me get there. Without a number of Cmdrs I would still be some 550ly from BP watching the festivities from afar :). The explorer community is truly awesome!

.
Absolutely. It has been an amazing journey in so many ways. Even exploring on your own it is still possible to feel part of that community. :)

Frawd, the thing is: from the moment I knew people could find jump materials and that you could collect them you WERE going to get to Beagle Point. I said this several times in conversations we had. I could understand your reticence but I knew people would help, it's human nature. You were the deserved target of people's desire to see others succeed.
