FD sort your instancing out, twice tonight has been spoilt at BP with a sudden connection loss.

You want multiplayer, then don't have a group of people chatting or making plans for an hour to be dropped out with no way of getting back together.[mad]

FIX IT!

Beside that am going to miss all you guys when the party is over! [sad]

We had some fun last night at Beagle Point.

Someone decided it would be fun to try to lift an SRV up to 5km but what we actually achieved was far more ambitous!

Um, has the DW expedition apologised to Frontier yet for breaking their game repeatedly.

SRV issues
Sag A* and numerous numerous other record breaking instances
SRV in orbit at 90+ Km (Edit: 130Km)

To name a few :D

Yes this is a joke but we are pushing the boundaries somewhat.

No apology needed, we are just stress testing Horizons. [big grin]

Not mentioning a srv hits a match stick and loses 75% hull!

If we can break the game FD need to up the stakes. ;)

I started fooling around with my clips to see what I can do to make them into top quality content.

CMDR Aterfax if I remember correctly you were the one in our wing that requested this.

im not sorry

Also, some of yesterday's shenanigans. Stay tuned to the end to see Isokix explode his SRV and send his shell of a scarab into the cockpit of my ship.
And the obligatory Galaxy Quest quote.

So it's been really fun meeting up with people and unwinding at Beagle Point. However, the instancing mini-game is really taking its toll.

I was looking forward to Thursday's event, but I'm starting to think my chances of actually getting into the same instance as the event are pretty slim, especially with close to 300 people here now. Does anyone know how FD intends to handle this?

I feel really bad setting off for home, and feel like I am letting you guys down. Be assured my departure has nothing to do with the exped, it is a combination of very demanding real life stuff and that flipping instancing. ill be waiting for the FGE fleet returning via the Sag-Carina arm.

It is as it is, as much as everybody would love it to be in the same instance with everybody else. I was kicked from no less than three bigger instances yesterday, in one case just seconds before an event started, the lifestream was completely broken and yes: it was a bit frustrating. But changing instancing would mean (afaik) reprogramming the whole game. So we just have to get used to it. We did well the last three months. Lets just hang around with those people in the instances we are in and have fun.

The route plot ahead

Friends, Commanders, Fleet members, lend me your ears:

Distant Worlds draws to a close and soon many of us will be going separate ways to find our own paths home. Yet I believe we have accomplished a feat that will be not only remembered, but repeated. I believe that this epic expedition will become a thing, that it will be repeated over and again. (At the very least, I can almost guarantee that it will be when atmospherics are opened up.) I believe that this experience will become, not a rite of passage, but a pilgrimage, that all who share the explorer spirit at all will eventually undertake. Some of us will likely even go on those expeditions...perhaps as leaders.

In the past three months we have accomplished things together that people would not have believed just four months ago. We have seen and done things together that we ourselves can scarce believe. We have forged friendships that will endure. Together we have celebrated our individual and collective accomplishments, and grieved our individual and collective tragedies. We have held each other up, and supported each other; and we have pushed each others buttons; yet in the end we have always found reason to forgive.

I want each of you today to look around you; to the other pilots in your instances, on fleet-comms, on the forums. I want you to burn their images, their words and voices into your mind, and onto your heart; and in days to come you will tell people "I flew with such people; and together we achieved a feat never before even imagined! Together we blazed a trail of light across the heavens so bright that the Gods themselves cannot help but have noticed! And in the end, together, lit a beacon on the far side of the sky itself, for all who dared, to follow.

You will tell them; "I was part of the First

...Distant Worlds

***I would personally like to offer my thanks to Erimus, Dr. Kaii and the rest of the organizers and pioneers, for having proposed this mad adventure in the first place, and especially for staying with it even when it turned into Godzillastein's Monster.

Last post on my departure but I want to clarify to all my friends, DWE colleagues and DWE admin staff on this amazing adventure I have been privileged to be a member of (and still am a member of until I reach home in my opinion). Just so you are fully aware of the situation regarding my early return from beagle point. I am very busy with my real life job at the minute and it is increasingly looking like I will be very soon in a place without any internet connection. To that end I am heading back early, the instancing issue last night was just a catalyst for my decision to leave. I am still a part of DW and am not leaving Kamzel. I hope I will be a part of Fleet #1 (I fulfilled all criteria) and I wish you all the best of luck on your return. I hope my early departure hasn't upset anyone or caused me to fall out of favour with the admin staff, I regard you all highly I just need to prioritise my commitments at the present moment.

Now that makes me wonder. What would happen if you took an SRV to the altitude where you normally enter orbital cruise. Can we take an SRV into space and leave it there?

What would happen to the player? How would they recall their ship?

No worries, Vorheez - it was a pleasure, and I was always happy meeting you or seeing you on the GalMap (and will continue to do so). Thank you for joining us. :)

(Btw, it's not up to me, but I can't see any reason to doubt your status as a Fleet One member.)

Sorry if I wasn't clear. I wasn't asking for the instancing to be fixed. (But don't let that stop FD from fixing it, because it really sucks and needs to be fixed. :))

My question -- and I guess this is directed toward the event organizers in touch with FD -- is if they know yet what FD's plans are for Thursday's event. Like are they just going to pop into one instance, do their thing, and then leave, or are they going to move around between multiple instances to try and include more people.

It is what it is either way, but it would be nice to know if there's any point in waiting around, for those who aren't lucky enough to get into the right instance at the start. Or if we should just log out and tune into FD's live stream instead.
