Sounds like OP couldn't be bothered to dig a little deeper. You need to land on more than one planet to come to a reasoned conclusion. Seems most of the tech going on in this game flew clear over OP's head.

Perhaps FDev should import the "Coming Soon" sign from Planet Coaster

That was an exaggeration. I have landed on multiple planets, crashed on planets, and done all there is to do on planets. As of yet, I'm still not impressed. I got horizons for the planets, and the planets don't wow me. Fine, that's my opinion, but for me, it is a problem.

You have to take all the comments about making money with a pinch of salt. One person say oh I made 10 mill in an hour doing that run. The next person lols and then say oh dude that is lame I made 20 Mil in half an hour on that with my awesome skills. So on and so forth
Making money isn't easy. It requires some research, it demands experimentation and a whole lotta practise.
As for everything else, I fall back on my generic response. Let go. Stop playing. Go do something else.
For me, I suspect you love the idea of what you believe Elite is about, I.e. The adverts of high octane adventure is conflicting with how the game actually plays out. The reality check is what's hurting your gaming sensibilities.
Please. Do not continue to play something that frustrates or bores or makes you want to smash your keyboard. This is unhealthy for your mental state.
I enjoy the game now. If tomorrow I get bored. I play something else. I have no expectations of expansions or updates suddenly fixing the game for me if I get bored. This is unrealistic. If you're not enjoying it now, chances are future updates and expansions will only increase that frustration.

The reason we get is 'space is big' but really the instancing destroys the game. I will never get in a matchup with anyone in the Northern Hemisphere because there are no dedicated servers to connect to.

Dear OP, Ive come to offer you some cheese to go with your whine... There are two types of people, problem solvers and whiners. Generally when I complain about something its because I see a better way of doing things. Those that just complain and dont offer solutions, are whiners.. Guess what category you fall into? Also complaining about lack of content in a game thats not even 20% completed seems kind of pointless dont you think? Kind of like dipping your finger into some egg whites and saying the cake doesnt taste good.
I wont argue that the game needs a lot of work and way more content, but you will notice there are two sides to it. Some are ok with the game for now and some are not. Why? Because some of us never lost that child like imagination (not to be confused with "childish"), others like you grew out of it, so you need direct stimulation/entertainment as you dont have the ability to use your own imagination and entertain yourself. And dont take that as an insult, as it could also be percieved as a compliment. Another way of saying it, is that maybe youre just not "geeky" enough to play Elite, in its unfinished state.
However I will hazard a guess that you actually enjoy the game a lot more than your original post lets on. And probably have a fair bit of hours in it. I cant see you having that much knowledge if you didnt. Also it seems to me like you care about Elite, otherwise you would just set it down like 100's of other games before it and never think about it again, instead of writing your lengthy post.
Maybe the game just isnt ready to fully entertain you yet, but thats the beauty of Elite, for those that dont like it now, might love it in 2 or 3 years.

I didn't nor has anyone else I have read in this thread, demanded FD "fix everything right now". Also, it's an undeniable truth that thousands of players have stopped playing or vastly reduced their play time, and undoubtedly thousands will have been put off buying Elite Dangerous and Horizons by bad reviews.
In your reply to the OP, you suggest there wasn't a problem with the game and those that are not happy need their hands holding, "ED is a big open space full of things you can do - but don't expect the game to be your nursemaid". There's actually a very limited number of things you can do over and over again and the content is presented in a very bland manner. However, with a superior imagination one can overcome these limitations!
"OMG WAKE UP SHEEPLE" - Really does suggest a superiority complex and lack of empathy to be fair, but that's common in gaming communities these days unfortunately.

No maybe some of us are critical enough to see underlying flaws with the game.
FD have themselves, no David Braben said they had made a mistake. Yes, correctly a majority are happy with the way it is going, but a large group of people, including frontier, want to see improvements.
