can we get more infos about 2.1?

The causes of delay comes, maybe for other reasons that the search for the best quality. For example, unforeseen absences of strategic employees (because of illness, resignation ...)

We get info when it's ready.
It really is that simple.

The "info" is ready, they know exactly what it will be when its finished and they know it now. I highly doubt they are still designing it. For one thing we should already pretty much be playing 2.1, but since we cant (no fault of our own) why not at least release a few details to keep the community going? Personally I couldnt take it anymore, taking a break from ED until 2.1, now that I think about it, FD is probably doing me a favor as I've been playing it way too much.

This is getting ridiculous. Why does it have to be such a drag to inform your userbase.

Hehe. I'd call it hype management. Every Frontier' step is very well thought through. Why do you think this one isn't? You can be sure they're having a full plan ready of when to release what kind of teasers. For the hype just before the 2.1 reach it's full potential.

My very personal feelings while awaiting 2.1 varies, I'm super-excited, I imagine things and sometimes I cough myself mad a bit for lack of info. Probably just like you now:) But all this waiting keeps me thinking about my favorite game everyday, even I play only every few days in my spare time...

Yup. Defo hype management. Works for me!:p 2.1 gonna be super cool!!:)

Simply because things change and when they go full on when promoting something, they have their way of doing it.
If they promote something before they're sure of it and it fails then much drama.
It will come when it's ready...learn patience.

Good luck. People always seem to expect Dev answers on a Friday night, I swear this is the third time it's happened... :D <- Joke, I know you'll be happy if it gets picked up next week or whatever, just wanted to say it.

The newsletter is Dev written so the line:
We understand you've been waiting with bated breath for more news on The Engineers and we can't wait to share with you all that will be coming in the second major expansion of Elite Dangerous: Horizons.
stands but if you are waiting for a response here you may be waiting a while.

The only other thing i'd add is that they don't give things away too much anymore like they did pre-launch in the DDF because people seem to take every single word they say as a promise and start making demands if they don't meet everything to the letter (see offline discussion for that particular gem). Since then news has been less clear and it's been stated many times that things are flexible... I suppose they also have to leave something for the beta testers to discover :p

On the whole I understand what your saying, I too am dying for more information on content, release dates, balance changes, remainder of the year's plans etc :) I just don't expect them to release it until they are ready due to the inevitable "brown object" storm should anything not be exactly as they said. Maybe I'm naive but I guess I'll stay subscribed and see if you get an answer.

Your right about people expecting to much from 1.0, when we all participated in the DDF, but we are no longer in kickstarter mode. There are a lot of people who bought Horizons as brand new game, they do have the right to know what they are getting and when, and complain when they don't get what they said they were going to get. I got a life long pass as an early backer, so I'm not too bothered. But if I had spent all that money on the horizons update I would be pretty angry, missed deadlines, no information on delivery date. I think we all understand games are complex beasts and things get delayed, but there is absolutely no excuse for the lack of information updates. Frontier seems to take adavtange of the good community that arguably are the ones who have kept the gaming going with all their very cool groups and community events.

Poor communication is what will kill it for me in the end if it keeps going this way. I won't quit the game, but I won't be buying more seasons if they handle them like this in the future. They're charging AAA prices per year.

I would simply like to know what I bought. They didn't even tell us the patch was delayed. We had to find out in a financial report. They made no announcement via their own channels to us. That is disturbing, and not acceptable.

Actually, to be fair, they did. They made a thread pointing to the delay. That was the announcement.

Here's what will happen: at the end of the year you'll consider how much fun 2.x was. If the updates were good, you'll buy S3. If not, you wont. At no point will you, or anyone here, say:"Boy, those updates were fantastic, best money I ever spend. A shame about not getting dev updates for a month in the spring, so I am not going to buy S3 even though I am looking forward to it."

Well with No Man's Sky and EVE Valkyrie coming out around then, there's that to consider as well. I'm already seriously questioning whether I'll be spending $60 on S3. NMS already covers most of the items on my exploration check list that ED likely won't achieve until S4 or S5. Valkyrie has the potential to be an instant hit out the gate given the current climate in EVE with the CFC and Goonswarm under serious pressure and their battle of B-R5RB potentially being eclipsed soon.

At this point, I'm thinking of just waiting until S3 and beyond go on sale to pick up.

Sure, but that has nothing to do with not getting some dev updates for a few weeks. People who claim their financial choices they'll make next year will be primarily based on not getting a fun newsletter in April of the preceding year are just being drama queens.

As for those games: EVE Valkyrie requires an Oculus Rift, so thats out of the questions. I would have gotten it otherwise. Not as a replacement for ED, E:V is basically CoD in space, but seems fun anyway. Will most likely get NMS but I see that more as a fun 'in-between' thing. Then you have I:B releasing next year, which is kinda like E:V but without VR requirement, and SC. Of all games, SC is the only one that, in theory, is a competitor to ED for what I am looking for. But since that is at least 1.5 years away I am not going to bother thinking too much about that. So until the end of 2017 there is only one new game (NMS) I can actually play, and considering there has been so little space games for so long I think I earned a year with two games. :D
