random meetups.

I see from time to time people complaining how lonesome they are. And there are moments i feel the same with this game.

but why dont i ever see random meetup topics pop up, getting all strangers together..

Lets hold a meetup!!!

ive got some ideas what to do..

Ive checked those pages and thats notwhat i mean.

Something for all people to join, with no connection to a group or faction.
just meeting random people.

Ah ok, so you mean a bunch of forum users agree to meet at a certain place? It would turn into carnage unless it was done in private group, lurkers and murderers would be all over that like a rash. Even in private, at least one suicidal FDL pilot will gate crash the party

Last night I meet 3 other commanders and we formed a wing. We support Hudson and went farming in HRES then CZ's. It was a blast. We even killed 2 other commanders, they were in Hudson space doing the HRES, but supported an empire faction for power play, so they needed to die.

Well altho my idea is a bit shabby, it doesnt give people a chance to bully people.

i would like to go to Rugai. The first planet has a city like station, and it would be epic to hold a massive SRV PVP fight there.
if you die, you just respawn at the station and can restock the SRV and jump back into it again.

if people want to bully there they get shot down by the station in no time.

besides if you meet fun people you can allways go to a private group or an other system.

the main thing is just meeting people and have a blast.

Yeah, random ingame meets are great, I often go Canyon running or hit a HRES with people I meet in open. Advertising a meet and location on the main forum just sounds like a chance for some random bored guy to get trigger happy on forum users.

I I love canyon running in both a ship and SRV. My tag is: Lord Pydus. We are hunting in LFT 1448 (I believe). I will be on tonight at 8 pm CST. Last night we had my FDL, 2 Vultures, and 1 viper. We are helping the viper pilot because he is new.

It is better to organise meet ups with discord or TS with people you know, otherwise you might get unwelcome gate crashers, unless of course that is what you are after.

It can allways be held inside Mobius, i play most of my time there.

but is it that bad, that if you say im gonna do this and there, people will show up to ruin your day?

Isn´t community goal just one big meet up point?
personally, i do not get joy out of CG's.

Besides, i dont have to make credits to have fun.

Yes it is, we had several instances of people playing in open on the Distant Worlds expedition attacked by Commanders, fortunately most of us were in a private group, if you advertise it on the forums you can guarantee that a yahoo will turn up. It can still be done in open but using private communication channels.

not sure what to say, its really sad..

You'd be surprised how common I see random CMDRs in my travels around Imperial and Alliance space. Only time I'm ever in a fight with players is when I actively go looking for PVP.

A general meetup sounds like a great idea. I say if people want to show up to cause trouble, let em. I got railguns on so many of my ships now I feel like I need trolls to make things interesting. :D

But in all seriousness, give people a chance. I'd be willing to bet there won't be that many trolls. Might even end up making way more friends than you thought you would that way.

I imagine they went there to die. Much like an Elephant.

I think this is a great idea. An SRV meet and greet inside of a planetary base. Other players can't shoot down your ship, and its a short distance for respawn ....... if players want to try and shoot our srvs inside of the base, more power to them !

I would suggest though that it happens near the cg, making it easy for people to pop in and out easily.

Morrina 1 has a circular planetary base like you mentioned, Mukai's Pride

Despite what the nay-sayers have got to say, there is no reason to be discouraged from organizing such an event. Don't let the terrorists win.
The number of people who wish to have fun, may outnumber the ones who are trying to ruin it.
Anticipate the trouble makers and arrange some countermeasures prior to the event, ie: invite enforcers/mercenaries for peacekeeping.
I'd like to see SRV races, better yet an SRV destruction derby of sorts, last man standing. As a prize, have a CMDR drop a set amount of
high value cargo for the winner to collect and cash in.
Invite CMDRs skilled with video recording/editing, have them parked in strategic places to collect footage and then perhaps collaborate with
a CMDR who could mash up the collected footage into a video feature.
Plan it ahead, give enough notice, pick a time that would suit more users, say in UK time (GMT 0) pick a place where that isn't to far for CMDRs
who are willing to participate. Consider ideas suggested by others and try implementing them. Make up a flyer and advertise it on the boards.
The first attempt would probably be somewhat of a failure, but if you want to make it happen and become a successful event, try again and again.
If anything, we learn from our mistakes and improve over time. It could even become a monthly event with new ideas and more and more participants.
When someone says you can't do something, you go ahead and prove them wrong.

Well that doesn't sound like a random meetup, you are describing an organised event.

tonight I was in yet another wing of 4. New people to the group. This time, we saw enemy commanders, but, I know them so we didn't fight. I wish we could do more than 4. At one point, there were 3 or 4 sets of 3 NPC's fighting us. It was crazy fun, actually.

I have my merits for 5 M credits and I get a good bonus turning in bounties. Thus, it has been refreshing from my previous play to the cutter.
