Missing ship graveyard found in Ethgreze

Thanks for your submission. It’s clear that you’ve spent a lot of time on this, but as your submission tells a largely self-contained story we wouldn’t be able to publish it on GalNet – we generally look for submissions that relate in some way to the game’s ongoing story threads, or that describe significant in-game activity.

I hope this isn’t too much of a disappointment – as I say, we do appreciate the effort you’ve made. I hope you’ll continue to submit stories to this thread.

Given the finite amount of time at our disposal, it simply isn’t possible to enter into a discussion over subjective issues such as those you’ve highlighted (“weird flow”, “not generally interesting”, etc.). If there are small, objective issues with a submission we will give feedback to that effect, but the amount of time we can devote to engaging in a critical dialogue is unfortunately very limited.

I appreciate that it can be disappointing when a submission isn’t selected for publication, but the best advice I can give remains to refer to the guidelines at the top of this thread.

I understand completely and i thank you for the valuable time you have given me so far.

I will just continue in hopes one day I can make a worthy enough story to publish! :D

TITLE: Communism on the Rise

DESCRIPTION:
Since its infancy, humanity has empowered a wide variety of governing bodies. In the 34th century, the highest percentage of inhabited systems are controlled by corporations. The shining example of corporate governance is SiriusGov, headed by CEO Li Yong-Rui.

By comparison, communist governments control a relative handful of systems. Nevertheless, communist regimes are joined forces with the aim of coalescing into a new power bloc.

Comrade Marko Shostakovich, Chairman of the HR 7169 Union Party, shared some thoughts on recent communist bid for power: “It is a marvelous thing to see so many comrades uniting as one! The powers that be ought to tremble. Now is the time for all good men to come to the aid of the party!”

Whatever the end result, we can be sure that the union of interstellar communism will have a significant impact on the political landscape for years to come.

LOCATION: Messi, Galnet
TITLE: Angelic Church of Messi shoots for new congregation

Followers of the Angelic Church of Messi have lived reclusively in Messi for hundreds of years.

However, with a new Church Head elected, Cardinal Piquet, the Church has decided it's time to spread their message across the galaxy, sharing the miracles and the true greatness of the Messi faith.

"When I was a child, I had a vision of the Great Messi in a green field, and He talked to me. He said one day, I would show His feats to all the people, and I have devoted my life to this calling since", said Cardinal Piquet during his swearing-in ceremony. "My main 'goal' now, is to fullfil His wishes and follow my destiny" he added.

The Church receives with open arms, anyone who seeks guidance and wants to express their faith, live in harmony with the galaxy, and worship the mighty and beloved Messi.

Is anyone else finding that the title of this thread is now permanently in bold in their subscribed threads list, thereby constantly fooling them into thinking it contains new posts?

Edit: ignore - posting that seems to have fixed it, must have been some kind of heisenbug.

No worries, thanks for the feedback!

This has been published in Achenar, Alioth and Sol.

Thank you Ian.

Can I safely assume you caught my lovely typo "regimes are joined forces," and perhaps changed "joined" to "joining?" Don't you love when you read your own work a day later and find that sentence you reworked a dozen times ended up broken?

Title: Local Dispute Over Bast’s Snake Gin

Description:

Local gin producers have recently found themselves under fire from animal rights campaigners, who object to the system’s most popular export; Bast’s famous snake gin. Artemesio Sallis, current treasurer of the Interstellar Animal Protection charitable organisation, stated:

“Contrary to claims that Bast snake gin is a cure-all for numerous ailments, there’s no evidence it does anything of the sort. The creation of this beverage is distressing and painful to the animal, and it’s sold as nothing more than a lurid tourist trap. I’d like to think in the 34th century we’ve moved past such disturbing animal cruelty.”

An association of gin producers responded:

“Bast snake gin is renowned through space for its curative properties, and is a traditional drink that has been part of our culture for centuries. This type of nannying interference is neither needed, nor wanted. Snake gin is bottled with no cruelty to the animal whatsoever. Our buyers will not be put off by these spurious claims.”

Author's Note: That Indi Bourbon CG got me thinking. It's surprising just how many rare goods products are legal and yet, from their description, highly questionable in nature. Got me to thinking there'd surely be some sort of wrangling. This article was the result.

Title: Bond Hub 'out of the woods'
Location: Galnet (might be a local story, but thinking that it might spur more meta-alloy harvesting to get the others online ;) )
Time: Your discretion
Description:

Verity Gavroche, the Canonn's official reporter, brings news of a success in the struggle against the technological plague:

Following weeks of tireless meta-alloy harvesting, a team working under the direction of Prof D Luffy at Bond Hub, Varati, have finally been able to apply the same fix that was discovered by the teams at Obsidian Orbital.

In a brief interview, Prof D Luffy said:

"We knew it was only a matter of time before we managed to get Bond Hub fully operational again – but it required the help of many commanders to get there."

"We can’t thank everyone enough for the many hours they’ve spent transporting hundreds of meta-alloys between the Pleiades and Varati, a journey that’s by no means easy!"

Appeals have now renewed for more meta-alloy shipments to the other affected stations mentioned recently on Galnet, in the hope that we can then see the eradication of this nuisance from all our lives.
