Having completed a scouting mission to and beyond the Rift, I felt it might help others to share some thoughts of the journey.
Yes, it was just a scouting mission to test ship build and uncover potential concerns which may arise along the way, like jump
range and refueling issues, whilst establishing navigation waypoints for future trips. [

The journey was to see if we could cross the rift, with the ship setup to handle planetary landings shortening jump range to
around 34ly when full, with "dozens of lightyears"(36+) attainable by dropping to 1/2 tank or a little less with a safe fuel load
(not including hail mary's). We set out towards the "bridge" to see what it was like to make a crossing in that area, it wasn't
as hard as expected, certainly ships with less jump range would be able to cross and refueling was never an issue. Once on the
other side we headed out to a point along the "RR Line" projection, then made our way back towards the "rift" where the RR line
points, to attempt a crossing there, eventually heading back to the bridge to return home.
Working with the clues we have the "RR Line" certainly brings you to a seemingly impassable area almost void of stars and needs
to be navigated with some care and thought, when either finding a way through or around, at times having to resort to plotting
individual jumps on the map to build a route, as the ship's route plotter was often unable to automatically generate a path
within the area, sometimes plotting hundreds of lightyears sideways to go a few light years ahead was the only way forwards.
Though the question remains, is what we are looking for "within" or "beyond" the rift? ... what i can say is, "You don't know what
I've seen, I've sailed beyond the Formidine Rift"
..looking back @Galaxy while crossing the rift, it's dark within the systems out there.
..looking back @Galaxy from outer arm... "you can see the whole galaxy just hanging there."
