You'll all actually appreciate this little oddity.....Adder

Did this last night.

Turreted beam laser (top mount) 2E

A rated Adder, get this.... 3.5 pips into weapons (2 in shields, .5 in engines) and you'll be firing non-stop for a long time.
4 pips into weapons and you'll actually be regening weapons!!!!!

This for example.

http://coriolis.io/outfit/adder/23A3A3A1D2A3A3C0t121204006g40272725.AwRj4yyA.AwgsIzwo?bn=Hunter

with correct priorities and cargo hatch disabled, wow, I just had a great time in a HiRes last night...Python NPC had no chance.

What im trying to highlight here is that the Adder, excuse its cockpits lack of transparent material, is a very good fighter. Amazing control coupled with an infinite beam 2E turret.

Regards,

I don't think the guys with tank FAS builds will be swapping over, but a good build for new players. I'd look at the power management a bit more. If you ever got your PP shot out, you'd be in trouble.

Nicely done.

Your thread indicates that someone might not appreciate the Adder. Pray tell who these are so I can give my good old service revolver a bit of practice ;)

That is almost always the case with low draw turreted beam lasers. To be clear its the relation between distributor wep cap regen, weapon thermal load and ships heat dissipation. Eg. An Anaconda with 4 pips to weapons can fire 2 C3 Beam turrets indefinitely just as you described too.

When weapons deploy, due to energy constraints many things turn off (thanks to priorities), like FSD interdictor et cetera. No energy management problems if that's what you mean :)

Na, he means that you need to have your priority 1 modules total under 50% of total power. If it exceeds 50% your entire ship shuts down if your powerplant is shot. That can only happen with your shields down, so you can move the booster and generator to 2, like this: http://coriolis.io/outfit/adder/23A3A3A1D2A3A3C0t121204006g40272725.AwRj4yyA.AwgsIkEZlGSA?bn=Hunter

Notice the 50% line in coriolis: in my setup its blue (=good), in yours its red (=not good). :)

For RES farming, I'd downgrade the sensors to D to save energy, swap the interdictor for a B class shield cell bank because there's nothing to interdict in the RES, and swap the chaff for a KWS for 30% bigger bounties. Also, turrets will get you into trouble shooting innocent ships in a RES.

I have recently rediscovered the Adder.
The Adder was the first ship I bought.
But after the big canopy of the Sidewinder, I found the Adder to be awful.
Some weeks ago it came to me that I wanted to check it out again, just for fun.
And it's just awesome, a delight.

Someone should start the Adder Super Society. :)

I think we just did.

I loved my first adder, I got to do the stuff I bought elite for. Trading and mining.
After working up to a type 6 I wanted to explore so....

I spent some time exploring with an adder build and had a whale of a time.

Had the tactical ice paint job, had a space shuttle vibe going for it.
Sacrificing cargo and 30% jump range for a srv - but it was worth it.

I feel bad because I traded it out for an asp and bought the vibrant green paint job for my adder and thought - awwww I could have had "starbug" screenshots instead of space shuttle ones.

I got screenshots of mineral collecting in an adder (after blasting the rocks from my srv) - flat bottom ship you make my rocking world go round.

I hate the Adder, wanna fight? I took one to NGC 6357 and got so annoyed with not being able to see I started calling the stupid thing names and sold it ASAP

When I was a new player, but the time I had several million credits I was in a nicely outfitted Cobra III and drooling over the ASP. The adder wouldnt be my choice at that price point.

I put the 3A Interdictor on as it's also an assassination vessel, bloody impressive...for its price.
That turreted Medium beam just keeps on going, and with amazing handling...it's actually a viable dogfighter.

...and yes I know that in PvP i would have problems, but last night I took down a Dangerous NPC Python with turrets.... so I'm pleased.

I have a Python, I am rich dude in game but i really appreciate this boat.

lol

I actually like Adder's cockpit. Yes, it's not exactly perfect for combat due to total lack of view. But it feels...cozy, and safe for some reason.

Forgot, man....poor sensors in a RES is a nightmare!!! you cant see where other ships are....bleeeeh yuck!!!!

lol, nah i'll be right :p
I like to have everything at my fingertips, a ship with poor sensors...doesn't sound right from the get go....

I put A sensors only if I really swim in power :) FAS, or FDL can easily affort extra power for them. Many combat ships will be fine with D rated sensors. Bonus is really pretty small.
