Why I regret buying this game.

Sorry, Grace... only your personal opinion. This game is not for you, live with it. Countless people "in here" do have a good time with nice players and without all the stuff you complain about.

If it's so many people having fun and one complaining about having not, it's not your "fault" and not my "arrogance" but simply a fact: Elite and you don't fit together.

Stop playing the game immediately and buy something that fits your needs. How about a 10.000,00 USD investment in some large ship in another space simulator's universe?

ED made less progress in last year than SC in last 2 months... Better flight model, more ships and a lot better art... But don't worry, FD will do something. They will have to... Or SC will release before elite 2.3.

I am not sure that you are living in the same universe that anybody else lives in. SC having the better flight model, WTH?

I saw the investment levels and their rewards when I was DLing the demo. I did a double take. Seriously. $15,000? Really?

Fixed it for you.
Open is fine if you fly in empire space. never had an issue there ever.
I guess evil lurks within the federation...

Well, federation is empire PvP zone...
Open is fine.
The Empire is a cesspit.
Evil lurks within the Federation.

The Border Coalition will set you free.

Judging by 2.1 release... 2.3 will be released at 3.4 release date.

It seems that you have an Agenda.... and people with an Agenda tend to get far away from reality and other mundane concerns. But I guess you are aware of that to a degree, considering that your avatar seems to wear a tin-foil hat!

To be fair, thats the completionist package that gets you ALL ships.

Well okay, not all ships, but all ships up until 18 months ago or so. Come to think of it, you might not be able to fly many of them, but you can see most of them in your hangar. Actually, it was recently announced that many ships wont be included in the game at launch, end 2017.

Hmmm.

1:1 scale universe... I've seen all of it. There are 40-60 different things in space, if you've seen them all you've seen everything in this "1:1 universe".
SC is making progress, elite is pretty much in same beta state since release. Now with horizons. So, we've got game in beta with dlc in pre-alpha. And you should PRAY for SC being good because FD will have to actually do something.

OK, you are positively on an Agenda to a point that facts don't matter anymore. Some people are best ignored, so welcome to my Ignore list.

lol corrected for you. ;)

It is more realistic. Flight model in elite would be fine if there would be atmosphere in space... I'm playing on gamepad so i don't know if it's good on hotas. I guess not.

People buying virtual ships for 15k$ are reminding me of michael from GTA V...

You know I have been thinking about the title of this thread, and I came to realize why I regret buying Elite Dangerous too:

because I play it too much, and so many of my other games go neglected due to ED!!!! :D

I don't give a damn about realism if it makes the game play shallow, I want to actually feel that flying the ship in the game is important. In SC you don't have to position yourself to shoot someone, you just have to aim... It feels like a FPS since day 1.

By the way, neither game is realistic. In SC turn rates would turn your character into mist. Ships are full of winglets (why? Because they look "cool"), weapons are outside, ship reacts exactly the same in atmo (racing) etc

No one will dogfight in space in the future. Deal with it. [yesnod]

I cant seem to find my crystal ball but I somehow doubt 'mouse+auto-aim' ala SC wont be how future space battles will be won either. :p

I disagree again , I find that eatch planet has its own feature.
yeah they look a bit like eatch other but so do forests , the forst behind my house will look like the nearest forest to your house but with there own set of unique aspects and landmarks.

I was a sub to the SC thingy (centurion? something like that)

The thing Elite dangerous and SC have both in commun is they are WIPs.
Neither are finished and both have the same ambitions , every time SC makes a new step forwards elite does as well.

I want SC to be good , of course I do... I purchased it a long time ago and was a sub for a while , but I just cant see my self getting as invested into it so far.
FD are doing stuff , its just they are secretive unlike CIG who tell us everything they are working on , and then the fans get angry when a bit of content is changed or removed

Me too... At least in past.

I've always been puzzled when people bring up the realism thing.. Let's face facts here.. realistic space combat would involve flying towards an enemy at 3.1 x 10*8 m/s, you wouldn't be able to see them because of the distances and you'd only have one chance to fire because one assumes turning would involve massive levels of deceleration and maneuvering that could take weeks.. I'll take Elite thanks.

Yeah realistic space combat would be ships at insane ranges shooting stuff at each other whiles they run electronic warfare and other counter mesures.
And if there were fighters they would be drones as a fighter is a waste of life.

And in elite ships to have a fly by wire like in SC but they had to nerf parts of it in order of the gameplay to function.
Elite goes the way I like it full realism and then turn things back down for it to work for gameplay , a bit like armaIII in a way.

You're just wrong. As is your friend.

The game is not too difficult for newbs. If my nine year old and his eleven year old big brother can wrap their heads around the game, you can too. End of story.
My fiancee can play this game , she never played a 3d space game in her life. I guided her and told her what to do , and she did get blown up by an NPC but death is not game over , its just the first steps.
Like cylons in the good version of BSG
