Frontier - this is the gold standard for release notes.

Am I the only one who couldnt care less about the format of release notes? Sandro, Michael and David can harmoniously chant them while jumping on trampolines wearing nothing but ED socks for all I care...

It's not so much the format as the concise detail that impressed me. It explains precisely what has been added or changed and why in plain language.

It's also admittedly quite funny imagining what is presumably some kind of agency model turning up for a job and finding out she has to wear a navy inspired top and explain some rather dry facts about torpedoes in a game.

Going through a "major" release E:D changelog that way would require a feature-length film, and the "top items" describing the feature additions are more in-depth (concise) and backed by more verbose newsletter coverage for people who don't follow the streams. I honestly don't see an information advantage in a youtube infomercial featuring an agency model and dubbed over in really badly positioned, loud talking-head voice.

Nope you're not.

And I find the chosen method in that video incredibly irritating. I couldn't watch more than a few minutes, despite the game looking really polished and interesting.

It was cringeworthy but not in a "laugh at itself" type of way. Prefer the format ED currently has although would prefer even more a change log that simply changes whenever a new update or bug fix is considered internally. They can't really build up hype to make sales using that method though, so I settle for the current way they reveal.

An interesting idea, but it's something i doubt we'll ever do here. That sort of stuff takes a long while to create and perfect.

No offense, but saying something like that sounds like "I doubt we'll ever do that here, it's too difficult for us." instead I'd say, "I doubt we'll ever that here, we'd rather spend our resources on improving the game rather than make flashy videos."

Sure, if you're looking to attract the teen crowd who want instant gratification. Oh wait, we've already got plenty of that in ED already.

I have absolutely no clue what "teen crowd" and "instant gratification" has to do with any of this.
OP was merely suggesting a different form of presentation of the key aspects 2.1 has on offer, and for that he used a different game as an example....nothing more to it.

I was referring to Wargaming.net's advertising approach.

Dont really like WoWs stance - nerf the bejezzuz out of casual players, those that like PVE earn 'stuff' twice as slow.

But it's fun, for a while.

Went back to ED trading, it's that good!

A loach is a parasitic worm which attaches it's hind to the base of the brain stem. Those infected usually have a desire for wearing sombreros. while the host feeds on nutriants in the hosts blood a chemical released causes the host to have good ideas for gaming :D

Has the obvious side effects though. :)
