So what is keeping players out of player groups ( solo and open MMO)

I played this game for months in solo mode and I have never played in a group as I haven't bothered making the effort to look for one.

I dislike solo play and got bored of it after a while and stopped playing altogether.

What stopped me going into open/group play? Cant really put my finger on it to be honest... it just happened like that even though I like pvp.

This game needs to make up its mind what it is, mmo or single player and I think until it does this problem will persist.

I'm not sure I buy the suggestion that the game not supporting large groups or having in-game clan tools is the reason that people don't join.

It might be the reason that no one has heard of your particular group, perhaps, but to suggest that people are incapable of Googling for "Elite: Dangerous clan," for instance is hogwash.

Unless, of course, your average clan in the game is composed of people who've never heard of the internet...

So yes a disclaimer i am a rep of a 150 person group who is led by a glorious leader but having a bucketload of fun

Im interested to hear from those who arent part of player groups / clans / guilds

In elite dangerous what is keeping u from joining any number of player run and backed organisations and groups

Is it the ingame mechanics, out of game politics, general disinterest, background simulation mechanics even.

Lets have a discussion as to why people arent joining player groups in bigger numbers

In short, I just don't know how to but would like to!

I'd appreciate a walk through if possible....

Thank you!

Some of the most common questions I get from previously solo play (lone wolf) CMDRs that may be interested in my group are "do I have to be on at a certain time?", " can I be any Powerplay power that I want?", "how strict are your leaders and will I have any say in the group?", " I am new to some aspects of your group's operations, am I good enough to be trained?", "I'm a PvE player, is there a spot for me?"

My answers are always: no, of course, my leaders are very chill and everyone in AA has an equal say in the group, of course we would train you and we have tons of spots for PvE players!

Some groups are very strict on their RP and force members to do things that support that RP, but most are just chill groups of players that like to play with friends and have goals in game.

led by a glorious leader

This is one reason why I don't group up. I don't need leading.

Being part of a group may appeal to some. PvP may appeal, being a cog in a machine may appeal. But don't assume that everyone will enjoy the things you enjoy. Diversity exists, and Frontier have done a good job of embracing that with the Solo/Group/Open modes.

Cheers, Phos.

Large Scale PvP isn't possible on P2P connections which is a shame. Would love to see a 30v30 fight between powerplay factions, but this is only possible on a dedicated server.

Silk, are you sure on that PVE thing? I went to your page for info and one of the first thing I read was "We only recruit from the highest echelon of PvP combat CMDRs and do not allow non-combat CMDRs into our group as we like to keep focus on justice through action."
I'm guessing the page may be a bit out of date and that the PVE players maintain and increase your Eravate station's faction.

I understand the lone wolf players not wanting to join groups.

For others who are interested in joining groups, but worry about being lorded over by a leader or leaders, there are plenty of groups out there that are more like loose coallitions of CMDRs. I highly recommend group play, its good fun, and its nice to work together on common objectives.

You can even be a member of multiple groups if you want.

It's because I'll be damned if another player is going to tell me what to do in a game I am playing. This is reserved for the good people of Frontier setting the in game restrictions.

You might say I'm a member of the loosely defined Explorer group, but the only requirement there is to always carry a bag of cheezy wotsits.

I dont want to be a member of one group, where a tag and clan codes and all that. I do want to be able to help groups I appreciate, and do so independently. So sometimes I lend my ship to the Canonn, and if Fuel Rat needs protection or some independent player group is besieged by some obnoxious Imperial Power I want to help out. And after that I'm off again: my ship aint a tree so wont be sprouting roots. :)

Nope, we've had open recruitment for all PvE players for a very long time! Check out our Inara page http://inara.cz/wing/336. We're happy to accept any PvE player regardless of creed. :)

AA PvP requirements.

**The minimum of what we are looking for in Adle's Armada recruits:**

- Midshipman+ Federal Navy Rank preferred.
- Will need to be dedicated to doing AA special missions.
- Expert+ Combat rank preferred
- Viper+ Combat fitted preferred
- Money for insurance rebuys
- Good PvP experience
- Teamspeak 3 WITH mic.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

AAAC, our official PvE wing!

**NOW ANNOUNCING OPEN RECRUITMENT FOR ALL PVE PLAYERS INTO THE [AAAC]**

ALL players of ANY combat/factional ranking will now be accepted into the Adle's Armada Auxiliary Corps [AAAC]. This is the PvE/BGS wing of Adle's Armada and they share the same area of influence (noob space). This wing has equal standing in the [AA] rank structure. These CMDRs can be brand new and wanting to learn about how the game works and to earn quick money while influencing the galaxy or very experienced players looking to make a quick buck that want to fly with a group of really chill, active players. All you need is a mic and a teamspeak account, we will fill you in on all the rest!

My game time is limited and not consistent so its very difficult to play with other people. I would love to be part of a group taking control of an area of space and building bases, but the game mechanics don't allow that - yet.

Lack of group content. Extremely poor communication tools in-game.(yes, TS3, yes vent, but, FD, is a chat window where someone can ask questions too hard?!) No way to own/defend space(PP is a poorly implemented stab at this). No sense that our actions have a truly impactful effect on this gameworld because the BGS is just..off.

Without feeling a sense that, collectively, a group is better at achieving things than I am on my own..why bother?

Doesn't a Wing then meet that definition

And "Why people arent joining player groups in bigger numbers?" seems an odd question when we have an active group forum, numerous Player Factions and even Player factions competing to rise up as the first Player Power

Doesn't Mobius get over 1000 applications a day? Too many to actually vet them all before letting them join? Closely resembles the impossible-to-regulate influx of refugees into Germany somehow... Complete with terrorists slipping in undetected.

I'd say those are pretty big numbers already.
