Anybody ever seen that South Park episode 'Make love, not Warcraft'? The griefer in that is the mental picture I have of this guy...

In exploration CGs the only thing that counts is ADS scans, so heading out in a lightweight explorer isn't necessary. Just stick close to the bubble, and plot economic routes, honking, honking, honking. And for that kind of near bubble activity, a sturdy short range exploration ship is just fine.

Better ditch those pulses on that setup and go quad 1E beams and dual 2F Multis all gimbaled.
As soon as you're interdicted, drop out, head straight at your target at full speed (if it's clipper or smaller) and get cracking at your triggers with 4P at weapons. by the time you go past your attacker, your fsd should be ready for sc and your attacker has a good chance of canopy breach.
did that many times with an aspx and it usually throws off your enemy since they don't expect that. if it doesn't you will still survive any incoming until you can high wake out.

tho i on my part prefer to fly my aspx back to home base and switch to a well armed and armoured python.

The main issue I see with the above solution... is the 'stealth' acquired by the perp. Rating does not mean much for them in the first place. In fact, the only thing that DOES mean anything is the amount of churn created in these forums attributable to their behavior. If Tears and Salt were a commodity... they would be the entrepreneurs getting "rich" from it...

That being said... there are definitely those who could physically track them down... doesn't that lead to some heartwarming thoughts? :D
There is no "Combat Logging" from Real Life ;)

Instead of having them lose on their ranks, how about tagging them as criminals for the security forces. There won't be much fun for them when having to escape from 10+ security ships every few minutes plus huge bounties.
That being said, i think of it less as a way to stop people like these. I'd rather enjoy the more realistic atmosphere.
Think about what happens today when a dangerous wanted criminal is on the run. There's easily thousands of policemen or similar on the look out. So why not get the same ingame.
If i murder several unwanted people ingame - be it npc or player - right now i can cruise around the galaxy and noone cares.
I'd like to have tons of security on my trail that find me every few munites so i really have to work/fight my way to anarchy space or some place safe. And for every unwanted soul i took there should be more ships coming for me until i either have to combat log every minute or i get what i deserve right there on the spot :)

just a thought on realism ...

It's so good to see a reasoned and intelligent response to my statement. I'm so proud.

You only pick on those unable to defend themselves and the moment you find you've bitten off more than you can chew, you combat log out of the game.

For your information, it's not illegal to pick your nose or fart loudly in public, but it's disgusting anti-social behaviour. You're Elite Dangerous' nose-picking smelly kid who kicks small animals because they can't fight back and when they do, you go running home crying, dribbling snot down your face and pee in your pants.

Harsh but fair I think.

These days when I go into Open, I nearly always fly a Cobra Mk3.

Why a Cobra? Because with A-rated thrusters and PD, it can outrun literally *anything* except another A-rated Cobra. Within seconds of submitting to an interdiction you can be outside the effective range of most weapons. Many pirates or gankers won't even bother trying to interdict a player in a Cobra because it's a waste of time and effort, so simply by flying one you're reducing your chances of becoming someone else's "emergent content".

Leave the weapons. You're not going to fight off a PvP-minmaxed build; you're running.

It does happen (or it did, last I tried, which was many months ago) at least within a particular system but you have to kill a lot of people before it kicks in. Like a lot, a lot. When CODE or some similar bunch of eejits were doing their thing in the Old Worlds I'd been massacring their NPC ships in (whichever system) and eventually I couldn't jump into the system without having swarms of security forces converging on me. It was fun!

And now I feel perversely inclined to experiment. Anybody know a system full of miscreants? :D

When I was undermining in PP (almost a year ago now :D) I was once denied access to a station to dock because the station itself was hostile (eg glowing red) presumably after all of the NPC PP postal worker blood I'd spilt. But then I just logged out and logged back in, and the station was green and I could dock again. lol. Going to try your experiment in a slaver system. Any of Zamina's systems will do I think. ;)

Tvasus is nice, and you get to meet well known miscreants.

No suprise here, that vid is quite well known. And its was not made by you in first place. SDC also put it on thier clog reddit list as well. As far I know, there is no other vids where someone catch me clog, thats I where curious if you might suprise me. And now what? You all really thinks that will make me banned? Dont make me laugh. As if would care what bunch of fools think about it. No.. wait... I do care, for entertainig reasons. [haha]

Oky, that one.... its an old vid when Poaacticta or whatever that moron was called when he got me, and it was in times when not had enough first hand experience to deal with hull tanks. Now, you said I clog each time? Where are other videos, eh? Fight me once without help of wing then "make" me clog like you claim to do so, make vid, then make statments like that. Highly doubt if you would be able to do anything being alone, despite talking big on forums.

On other hand im suprised that thread is still alive and kickin, looks like mods are sleeping or something. Well It dont matters anymore. Thread orginally started about crying on forums and it ended like this. Multiple rules where broken within such thread and somehow they aint lift finger yet. I started even have doubts about polices in these forums.

How about now? [noob]

Its actually amusing, made me laugh :D

"Flame bait" - mission complete.

I used to play a lot of Eve Online, and that's one of the things that (in my opinion) Eve got right: You could blow the crap out of anyone in unclaimed space with impunity, but if you were in CONCORD*-patrolled space, you would take a hefty security status hit, and it didn't take too long before you'd be declared persona non gratis and be attacked by NPC police. The various factions in ED are far too tolerant of this sort of thing.

I love Open play. I love meeting people unexpectedly. I love PVP in all its forms, so long as it's balanced. Being able to take out a player without some serious consequences? That's not balanced at all.

*The Eve-cops. NPCs in powerful ships who would come to try to kill you.

When I showed up in my asp for the cg, I was greeted by a friendly wing that granted me an armed escort to the station... That was boss. I really hope FD; when fleshing out the cg's more, build on elements that incentivize this activity with more in game rewards.

That is why i always return in solo or private group when coming from an exploration with lots of data.
Also exactly because of that, my exploration ship is always armed to the teeth with guns, strong shields, shield boosters, point defence and the lot.
i can't see the purpose of having very long range to go places no one else can if i can't cache in the reward. The aspx still has a range of 27-29ly when fully armed and A-decked.

it also helps to have your foot on the power switch just in case. even in solo there can be a group of pirates taking you on together where your chances of survival are close to zero. I can find no shame in combat quitting in that kind of situation.

Still, i feel for you.

I just returned from a month long expedition (only my second exploration trip). I considered stopping at the first system, but instead, decided to go all the way to my "home" system instead because I was afraid of something like this. I have a 4A SG on my DBX, which seems like overkill, but tinkering with the ship config, you really have to go light to squeak out that last bit of range. Even with my overpowered shield and 3 class 1 peashooters (a class 1 weapon looks comically small in the DBX large hardpoint), I'm still at 29 ly, which is decent.

I think bounty hunting in general needs a revamp; the current RES mechanic should just be renamed to what it is - providing security to miners (farming bounties being the primary motivation here, of course). To me bounty hunting isn't just staying in one place killing wave after way of respawns, it should involve taking a contract, tracking target and then terminating / capturing (could be done via the escape pod mechanic).

So, yes, I do agree that someone who steps over the line repeatedly should find themselves in a world of hurt being constantly hunted. There are ways to make bounty hunting interesting and deal with griefers at the same time. The real problem is dealing with combat loggers, though, as unsurprisingly the same heroes who attack unarmed ships are also the super brave commanders most prone to combat logging.

yeah. The crime and punishment system really needs a revamp.

That is what i mean, give it some teeth and it will still jump pretty far. Both my exploration ships are, they work wonderfull for exploration and landings and the lot but still pack a punch when thrown into battle.

They have never let me down so far. The aspx can even reach Beagle Point with only 6 uses of jumponium, which is nice i think

I use my AspX as a multipurpose. It seems to scoop really slow. Need to see about upgrading the fuel scoop, because the way it is now, with a 2A, I wouldn't think of trying to explore in it.
