Got ganged up, blown up in Sol with 1000+ PP points to hand in…and it was awesome

Coming back from an Alliance system with 1000+ Fed PP points to hand in. Sol was the closest Zach system, so away I went.

Dropped in system, just zoned out going towards Mars High, I get interdicted. So glazed over at yet another NPC interdiction, I didn’t even flinch. Submitted and waited for the script….but no script. Long story short, I had a visit from 3 Imperial PP CMNDRS and lost my ship and powerplay points, total one sided slaughter....that was all my fault for flying alone. I don’t know why anyone would play solo, this is what makes this game fun. Risk. I almost forgot that feeling of urgency when you’re flying around with PP points, or a load of cargo or millions of credits in bounties. I can see getting ganked for no reason after reaping or mining being very annoying, but this was powerplay, and it was exactly what I signed up for. Made me realize i was getting lazy and need to think a little more strategically for next time, maybe reach out to join a wing. Minimize that risk. Having risk is what turns this game from a grind into being an adventure.

It can either make you bitter about being on the losing side of a fight or you can let it inject a little dangerous into your game

Sidenote.....anyone want to wing in Sol? Ive got some Imperial CMNDRs i want to talk to [knocked out][/FONT]

I agree that risk does add some fun to the game. It's why people play stuff like dark souls or go mining in nulsec (PVP free for all with very high level NPCs) in eve online.
Though I feel that there needs to be some more incentives before risk gets cranked up.

Sadly, such things are often confused with griefing. This is absolutely justifiable killing, since they did it for the sake of powerplay. (Although they should at least drop a short message, like "Die Federal scum")

And this is the mind set I wish I see more instead of the usual:

"OMG, SO NOT FAIR, GRIEVERS EVERYWHERE, WAHHH"
To be fair, Mr. Fang, that's a bit of a strawman. The threads where someone complains about people basically being rectal effluent are more common.

While I have no special sympathy for people who speed and get farmed for it, you and I both know that the "mindset" of the crop is the minor aspect of the problem.

At least own the chocolate starfish epithet.

When I knew I was done for, I stopped engines and lowered by landing gear, hoped they would chill out for a sec and talk....nope, they just let me have it full speed lol.

But you have to also admit that regardless of the moral stance players take on their interaction with other players, actual "griefing" nearly never happens (save mode invasion save wipe harassment) according to FD rules.

Sure, players can say that they "feel griefed" thus it's griefing, but they're usually cases that can easily be avoided or the complainer brought upon himself or herself.

I would rather see people that feel "griefed" come up with rational ideas instead of venting uselessly onto the forum that creates nothing but drama and extra work for the moderators.

I said before, if this was a random, no sense killing with no communication, that's a load of . This was PP and was totally justified. This could happen a dozen more times and the only person I could be mad at would be me.....for sucking.

I was in my A-rated FAS....i just tried running once I saw it was three FDLs, thought it was safer considering the PP points I had to cash, by the time I realized that was a no go, it was kinda over. I was in my PvE rig, but I should have spun around and taken one or two out at least, im hanging my head in shame.

You may want to see a thread that I've recently made (this one: https://forums.frontier.co.uk/showthread.php?t=245922).

Well powerplay is something people join so yeah, it is pretty hard to be griefed at least by standard definitions when you are part of it, they are your enemies, they attacked you. All good.

That said it there will always people that fly around alone for various reasons, unable to find a wing at the current time, can be a variety of reasons from the simple no friends online at the time, to who knows.
A single person getting attacked by a wing, can be fun in so far a dangerous encounter to escape, however if it repeats it becomes less so. But I think in 2.1 you could effectively build a ship that has weapons powerful enough to grind powerplay if combat, or maybe for a trader pp, where the trader can outfit so they can get away a bit easier. So yeah 2.1 could make it quite a bit more interesting.

People use the word griefing incorrectly. i always think of that quote from the Princess Bride. Getting killed by another player is not griefing. It's just playing the game.

People moan about griefing. To which I'd say "private group or solo".

Do I think Psychos are nice people? No, I think they're utter w*****s. But the rules of open allow what they do, and it's even in the Manual.

Just what do people get out of open they don't get out of solo? PVP, generally, so if you don't want that, why play in Open at all? Either go solo, or start a private group. That's what they're there for.

The OP's encounter clearly isn't griefing - it's basically the point of powerplay, which is essentially British bulldog with spaceships.

Yay. Yet another thread telling us poor non-open players how horrible our decision not to touch open with 10ft pole is and how manly folk embracing the true and only proper way to play cannot imagine how we can do it.

Could we get dedicated thread where this stuff could be focused?
