It just dawned on me about 2.1....

This is the first major expansion where there are no new ships! Nor are we getting any additional SRV types.

I fully appreciate all the hard work that has gone into getting this release done, but it does feel like it would also be a good time to add some new variants, especially in the mid-range (basically I'm saying a new Python variant).

I suspect the reason is FDev would rather test the balancing of all the new modifications on existing ships.

But additionally no new SRV? This one does surprise me due to the nature of Horizons (and also what appears to be no blueprints for upgrading SRVs with better drives, jumps, etc).

Anyway this wasn't really a complaint, more an observation. I'm super pumped for the beta landing and will actually be making time to do another long overdue video :D

That we know of.

The important thing to remeber is that it's all for....

Makes a ok sense in my book, get stuff out and test it with existing stuff, get it balanced, that way when you add the new ships and such those can be balanced according to the balance that then is in 2.1.

I mean 2.2 is going to upset balance again, with fighters, could imagine them adding srv's at least there at that time, unsure about other ships.

I saw that as well, but it looked more like just concept art where the cargo rack in the back was more prominent.

This was what I saw.

The question about SRV types was brought up in a recent livestream, I don't have a quote but the answer was along the lines of

We don't have any new SRV types to bring out as of yet because there is no new gameplay and it would be pointless to bring out new types without the gameplay to go with them.

OP - That's what the 2.4 ??? release will be. All of our missing hopes and dreams, tied up in a pretty little bow. :D

This update is to add tyre track marks from SRV's :)

Also got some stuff in there about engineers ;)

Tbh even though new cool ships are welcome, I think its the least of the things the devs should be spending time on atm. Many other areas of the game that are in need or work. If we do get new ships I'd much prefer them to be fresh new models and not rehashing whats already in game.

Yeah, this is a bit problematic for me as well.
Everytime i started to get really bored with the game an update with new interesting ships tided me over and renwed my interest. First with the Vulture, then the Courier and the DB Scout, then the FAS and finally the FdL buff (well, except the other 2.0 entries, the less said about the "ships" update the better). Spaceships are the main draw for me and beside the audio, the flight model and handling of different vessels are the most well designed things in this game by a great margin.

I somewhat understand, after observing the development for the past 1 1/2 years even more so, that Frontier are constantly working at their capacity limit and new ships therefore were out of the question when they implement big changes like with the upcoming update. But still, one or two new toys would have been very appreciated. Modules are just numbers, the look and feel of flying a different ship is much more.... don't know how to put it... "feelable" for me.

QoL changes (including the Nth mission overhaul) are always good, but i don't know if i wanted to pay 60 Euro for that. No, wait, the mission update is non Horizon exclusive anyway. I'm looking forward to the beta but expectations are very well managed.

Or rehashing stuff in previous games that got changed from sequel to sequel.
