watching 2.1 Beta streams

That is why my mother is getting a Snickers for mothers day this year instead of expensive chocolate. :p

Btw I went to see the trailer on Gamespot and somebody said they already saw that the framerate was low in the trailer.. first I thought that's I doubt there is even Xbox gameplay there and barely any actual gameplay at all but sure enough at 0:47 you can see that it has somewhat of a low FPS.. or is that just me? Is that clip in the PC Horizons trailer?
If it's a dev build the framerate will be slower than the retail

It was fastest and he was in a courier, someone in the chat mentioned it and he just checked to see if it was possible and fair enuff it plotted the route. I'm pretty sure it's just a oversight that won't make it into the update soon.

I'm suspecting that it's the same PC trailer that was used, and that footage is some pre-Horizons launch footage from a dev build on PC.

well i dont know too much about watching streams but i ventured onto the 2.1 beta discussion forums for a read and its full of hate and moaning... hopefully they're wrong.

in the meantime i will stay away from such videos and discussions

Hasn't it been said before that dev builds run at a lower framerate? Even when Gary was showing the upcoming 1.6 build on the stream the framerate was slower for that reason (which he explained).

It seems FDev are attempting to negate the arms race currently in ED where the focus is on big ships with big guns. Apart from the upgraded Ai, once the final release balance is in effect, I have a feeling that grinding for that Cutter or Corvette will become less of a life achievement than it is currently.

The return to flying in smaller ships, promoting wing play and tactics seem to be the case from what I'm reading in general from the 2.1 beta forum, even when dealing with NPC's.... since the pew pew crew will still be comparing the size of their appendages in what used to be open mode.

Lots of folks who've focused solely on getting that big ship and grinding for the pure sake of it won't be as important...not when an A rated Corvette can be wiped out in mere seconds by a wing of 4 NPC sideys with upgraded weapons...

One of the things that intrigued me was buried amongst the nonsense surrounding what the PvP pew pew crew were interested in, namely huge (but pointless) weapons and the fact they can't farm res sites in SCB tanked Corvettes anymore without being turned into floating space soup by a few Vipers.

That was the possibility of any station refusing docking permission should you be viewed as unfavourable or unfriendly with the controlling minor faction. A little bonus tweak for those who are interested in BGS manipulation rather than the utterly pointless mini game that is Powerplay or just flying around looking for hollow rectangles on the radar to blow up.

Amongst all the silliness surrounding huge guns for the socially challenged to fire at eachother, there are some nice additions in the upcoming patch.

Are Engineers part of Horizons (2.1) or will they be included in 1.6 too?

Strictly 2.1 Horizons... although I'm certain we'll see some NPC's with modified weapons in 1.6, for no other reason than version 1.6 and 2.1 can be played together multiplayer much like 1.5 and current 2.0 Horizons can.

We'll feel the effect if not being able to implement our own changes, can't see it being any other way for the life of me. I can see it getting tough at the sharp end :(

Doesn't that go against the whole ED tenet that you shouldn't get an advantage by paying more money?

Those who pay for Horizons will get access to engineer upgrades, while those without will not.

I can see how this can be moderated in PvE as it would be possible to arrange for those without 2.1 not to meet uograded NPCs, but for PvP those without Horizons could be at a serious disadvantage.

Unless Horizons and non-Horizons players can't instance together?

An interesting question. You should post it for the next livestream or on the twitter/reddit feed.

I can see the uproar in PC land when engineers rolls out as part of 1.6!

Yea and a question that has its fair share of white knights. They'll mostly reply with ''It's a company they gotta make money some way!'' or ''Get over it!''.

I doubt Eponymous will get an answer though. Seems like Frontier tends to coward out of tough questions.. piracy.. combat logging.
