I've been reading the 2.1 beta forums...

I'm constantly changing as proved by another thread I've been posting in today. I really wish the internet could convey the smirk I get when joking, instead I've had I can't count how many joke's tick people off when I really was just joking like I would with my friends. :(

Winky face is usually a fair indicator IMHO

Absolutely, that is what happens when you have a bunch of "intelligent" people butting heads. I have left the forums for months at a time as a result of being goaded by people who just seem to want an argument.

Forums are always like this though because people always think they are right.

This is why i allow my self to be wrong and try to run under the assumption i may be wrong... There are more experianced players than me on here... And i like to make use of information i couldnt before.

Hopefully the beta lasts a good long while. Reading the beta forums, cannons are now completely useless, as they're outclassed by large and huge multi-cannons in every single way, and missiles and torpedoes, even after mutliple changes, are still *fire off 25 missiles over 10 minutes and do 20% hull damage to a Sidewinder* level bad.
Must admit, for me this was a head-scratcher from the moment it was announced that these were coming. Medium Multi's are ALREADY used more often than Large or Huge Cannons. Even FDL's will slap a Large Beam on instead of a Huge Cannon/PA. Multi's needed a Nerf, not make them even bigger. How did Frontier not see that coming?
"Hey, we need to mix up Combat a bit. Everyone is running Stealth Rail/Multi builds or Pulse Vultures. Any ideas to add some variety to the load-outs? We've got eight different weapon types on four different sized hardpoints, but the most effective for heat/power are clearly Pulse and Multi's...hmm..."
"...how about Huge Multi's?"
"Brilliant! That'll change things up! No more need to bring Railguns, haha!"

Seriously, Huge Multi's were OP before they were even thought up yet...

Yeah I'm not looking forward to those at all

I liked the guy voicing his concern over the new A.I. mechanic of running away every single time their shields go down, and not returning until their shields are back, and everyone was basically just telling him to git gud, lol. I dunno about you, but being brought 30k away from the RES for every ship I fight does not sound like fun!

I thought you all wanted realism in Elite? Because I can pretty much guarantee that an actual person would sooner run away if their shields went down rather then stop and spin in a damn circle...

Or maybe I'm wrong and the AI should continue to do stationary barrel rolls while getting wrecked. --Momentai :3

I for one want more challenging fights. Predictable fleeing isnt challenging. Its merely a pain in the bum.

Well I pray to god you never face me in a fight then. --Momentai :3

I'm usually in a FAS or an FDL so I can chase lol.

See, I expect a fight vs a player to be much more drawn out. I would also expect that if one of us found that we were being bested, that we'd manage to escape (should we wish to) via high waking or low wake followed by high.

Thats expected vs players for me. Vs NPCs that would be extremely aggravating. Theres a balance to be struck between challenging, realistic and fun. Persistent fleeing is not it.

You shouldn't be picking a fight with a ship you can't keep up with anyway, NPC or player. Assuming this game mechanic is added people will just have to choose their targets more carefully.

I'm all for it as bounty hunting will require more intelligence then it does now. --Momentai :3

Thing is, I've heard about Anacondas outrunning ships they have no right to. Still, its being tweaked so its obviously seen as detrimental by FDEV too so its all a pointless argument really.

I met my missus 18 years ago in a forum. Trust me when I say your plight is as it's always been and always will be. Communication is so reliant on context, tone, expression, relationship, cultural differences etc. You and I have had our words, but hopefully you saw I had your back elsewhere today. Be patient, and don't be afraid to over-explain occasionally. Do stay though.

No prob. You had a legit reason for what happened then, not knowing me or my sense of humor at the time. And like I said then, I'm perfectly able to accept some of my type of humor is offensive to others and not use it online after. :)

Also, there's no way I'm leaving Elite or the forum until they close the servers. ;)
