Is there plans to support kinect?

I've looked through the forum and didnt see anything on this, but since xbox has no VR yet could you use the kinect for headtracking as it work well on battlefield 4 in the jets.

Yeah I bought this up a while ago. I'd rather have this than bobble heads, letters, and silly colours. Seems not many folks bothered about it really. Shame.

It's on their list, but really, really reallly far below.

Personally, i would turn it off right away.. i mean, i might wanna look to the right, but what i see then, is a brick wall instead of my tv..

well it worked on battlefield, i used it all the time to see which way jets were turning and all you would have to do is assign it's use to a button so you don't stare at walls when you talk to someone

Not to bang on about battlefield, but it also had a sensitivity for the head look so you didn't have to look at the screen out of the corner of your eye

i'm suprised it hasn't been suggested sooner
It has been umpteen times.

Unlikely to happen, not least as very few xbox one owners even have a kinect now since they stopped bundling it with the console. Why would you buy a stand alone one?, hardly anything has ever been released that uses it.

As far as I can tell Kinect is essentially dead.

Well i thought maybe they could add an option since it would work so well and i have no doubt you can pick up a kinect cheap these days

Don't get me wrong, I would like the Kinect to work in ED as well, the voice recognition (ish) and head tracking could both be very useful in ED and are widely used features on the PC (though both use additional third party software, not native support).

However, as mentioned by CMDR Dumbfries and myself, it seems like MS has all but killed off the Kinect by unbundling it.

So developers are back in the situation where they don't know what proportion of their xbox one playerbase will have a kinect, though it's safe to assume it's a very small proportion, so they don't bother wasting money developing features that hardly anyone will be able to use.

I was just wondering if it would be possible, I know microsoft have phased out the kinect i was just looking through a draw and saw the giant brick of uselessness and thought maybe, just maybe.

Perhaps they could add a hotkey command to allow you to lock a target and keep it in your view

Does it not get welfare? :S:p

See above. It's sad but it's so. It does serve as a blunt accessibility tool for disabled people, like my wife. Just not if they want to actually play a game. :(

besides, kinect will waste precious memory.. I'd rather have Frontier use that memory to boost graphics.. (Like they do in 1.6)

i just have a hate relationship with the kinect on Xbox, some days it will decide the Dog is kenneth Mcgrew and sign in others it just likes to mock me and make me enter my password.

As for voice command i sometimes have to put a scottish accent on to get the thing to turn off, and end up shouting at the tv because it opens up a different option instead, i do find if i speak like an american it usually behaves itself other times it just starts doing something if anyone speaks in the room, and if the dog barks all chaos ensues

the pause function dont work anymore and when it tries to track people when using skype it has a foot fetish and zooms in on my socks

with all that in mind i can imagine the hours spent developing ED to work with it will be wasted as the xbox opens up your music playlist, zooms in on your feet and looks left while you're telling it to throttle down desperately trying to avoid that star you're heading towards.

before you realise it you're on the rebuy screen in game while the TV has switched over to Cbeebies and the volume has gone up to a ridiculous level with the teletubbies literally shouting EHHHH OHHHH at you.

i heard there was a kinectophone coming soon though, maybe that's better...
