Eye for an eye

So as a noob this thread is obviously confusing, so just to get some facts. What exactly is UA bombing and by disabling station are you implying that a station can be destroyed and no longer used???

UA - Unknown Artifact. AKA Barnacles. They 'eat' tech to repair themselves. If you sell enough at one station they will shut down the Station's systems. The station is not destroyed but outfitting, shipyard, refuelling, repair, and some commodities functions are shut down.

In this instance a dispute between PC factions escalated to the extent that after a number of threats a certain CMDR delivered a number of UAs (UA bombing, not literal bombing). Ironically the dispute was over Xbone CMDRs involvement in the Dangerous Games, but we don't have the capacity YET to help repair the situation (that station requires Meta Alloys following a UA problem, a resource only available with the Horizons DLC, currently PC only).

Yes that's exactly it.
PC and XBone share the galaxy and the BGS (BackGround Sim) So our actions affect each other even though we can't instance together or see each other in-game.
What makes this action particularly unfair is our (Xbone users) inability to repair the station. It's created quite the stink.

oh yea that is indeed unfair

Please allow me add my two cents...
The UA bombing was not a "GalCop sanctioned" activity, but was carried out by a founder of one of the main GalCop groups, on his own. This was in response to an XBOX Group openly threatening some of the PC groups by claiming they would ruin the GalCop affiliates BGS in their home systems.
You see, if XBOX CMDR's attack a PC groups home system, PC has no way to block it either. So the response was basically, "Oh really? Well how do you like this, then?"
This honestly boils down to:
One/two groups on XBOX tried to pick a fight with a large alliance of groups, both PC and XBOX based. They then had their station shut down. It is not hard to fix, but the offending XBOX group does not want to cooperate with PC at all, and refuses to ask for help, easy as it can be to fix...in fact they are openly hostile simply because some of us have joined in an Alliance with PC groups.

Point is, it was an instigated event. This was not to attack the community. It just so happens that one of the group's involved decided to have their Minor Faction based out of 109 Piscium.

Stuff like this is happening, yet some people complain that players in solo can contribute to community goals.... Go figure.

Beat me to it.

My assumptions were correct.

All very well, BUT regardless of <redacted> Xbox users group doing/saying what they are alleged to have done the fact remains that the 'remedial'/retaliatory action was an act that NO Xbone user or group could remedy due to the disparity in content. CMDR <x> allegedly acted on his own. SO? No Xbox CMDR could do the same to the PC community at large. The damage inflicted was one-sided and CMDR <x> undoubtedly knew this. I'd really rather we didn't re-hash arguments that are even now old news on the PC side.
BUT the unfairness in regard to Xbox users is something that PC users, including those involved, are comparatively unconcerned with. Otherwise, PC factions opposed to the unilateral action of CMDR <x> would group together to repair the damage done to the trans-PC/Xbox community by shipping the required materials en masse, something Xbone users have ZERO option with.

Xbone users contributing to CGs or PowerPlay or any other aspect of BGS IS undoubtedly valid. BUT, actions perpetrated by members of the PC community on the BGS that Xbone users CANNOT remedy is still unfair. Yet until we get parity with 2.1 that disparity remains... Go figure.

Silly question but what is UA bombing, and can players actually disable a station?

Its explained above.

There are literally thousends of stations across the bubble, disabling 1 or 2 or 10, or 20.. doesn't hurt the game at all. If you throw out empty threats, this is what you can expect.

But like stated, soon we can get Meta Alloys as well.. so they can repair their station... Unless, somebody is shooting down their transports.. :p

How much are meta alloys worth?

True, but some stations are more useful than others such as the Li Yong Rui stations where shipyard/outfitting is 15% cheaper - well planned UA bombing can cause some inconvenience. For example there is only 1 LYR station that sells the Cutter (I only know this because my brother bought one last night :))

Lol... i think i know what you mean, and for a first, i like how you are thinking.. :p

They are worth much.. :D

Are they? I thought they were worthless.. would still rob them just to add some danger to the barnacle miners. I for one don't mind the station in 109 being closed down for buisness.

Same here, never bought stuff form that.. all those ppl that are used to the bloody discounts... I thought "I" was the Dutch guy here. lol

They only reason why i went to 109 a few times was because it has a awesome RES site very close to the star
