Hey all ... finally got a bit of time tomorrow morning to reboot this thread ... I think I've finished writing the new OPs ... Any further feedback or updates can be made directly in the new thread. If anyone has anything they wanted to be included in the new OP, or any particular call outs I might have missed, please let me know :)

Made a few suggestions inside the Doc. Looks good!

Nicely done. I had a read through it, there were some places here and there where I thought about tweaking things but decided not to since it was subjective.

Your link for finding Drew's posts doesn't work, you have to use the raw search link , as is it generates this error:
Sorry - no matches. Please try some different terms.
If you didn't perform an actual search, and were linked here by a Search ID number, please read the following...
Search ID's are limited to the user or user group who searched for an item for their session on the forums. You will need to ask the person who linked the search ID for the raw search link. Search links can be found by right clicking the "Search:" link above the search results, and below the page navigation breadcrumbs.

This shouldn't be too much of a problem. All of those links will need to be recreated in a forum-friendly format once they get copied across.

It might be a good idea to create a 'private message' between LuckyLuke and some of us where we can tweak the actual content into a forum-friendly document that has the right markup language.

Eclipse Class’ Cobra Mk3 hull registry "Cor meum et animam"
.
Cor = my (Curious that cor has the first letters of Children of Raxxla).
meum = Heart
et = and
animam = Soul

I've thought the same thing and immediately plotted route to Heart and soul nebulas (I'm near because I'm patrolling the "CoR Wall")

PS (Only a little correction: Cor = Heart and Meum = My)

I think Drew got pretty frustrated with us that we couldn't see it in the old lady's message and just gave it to us. "You will find the coords at the end of this msg ... right on, Commander. We took roC, connected it with Rho Cassiopeae, found nothing. Inverted it to Cor and connected it to the Children of Raxxla, again brick wall. Drew comes along and tries to help by asking us to consider the ahem... core of the problem, and assures us that future news will make the mystery less nebulous. Not once (at least to my knowledge) did we connect Cor to Heart. Of course the Heart nebula is pretty well explored, but how sure are we that there is nothing there?

The H&S nebulas factored in heavily to early tinfoil. There are several problems with them though, for one they don't actually match the description in terms of line and distance. It could be that the H&S nebulas are a 'thing' but it means heavily discounting the one explicit clue we have in favor of a series of implicit ones.

While i agree that the H&S nebs have been looked into in the past, i think it's time that we take facts/hints at face value and conclude that roC is in fact Cor which means Heart, and the last sentance of the old lady's holofac message actually contained it.
Of course i don't think that we will find IT in the Heart nebula, but in some way Cor/Heart will help us progress.

The H&S nebula has been discussed before. There have been enough hints that could have meant just that, but don't remember seeing one strong enough. This last one though is a bit more compelling.

That said, I've always had the feeling that the RR line just points to the general direction of the Rift, not directly a specific system. If you look in galmap, you should also notice that the Rift expands a lot to the east, also behind the H&S nebula. I returned from the border of the galaxy taking that route, but nothing out of the ordinary.

The only strong reason why I put this theory in doubt though, are the CoR patrol points. They stand perfectly centered around of the RR line. Although they cover as well anything coming from the H&S nebula...

Cemeiss system has two planets named Emerald and Jade. Might be worth checking out? I am in the Perseus Gap and not planning on being back for a while, so if someone has some time on their hands...

According to wiki, guess what - Diamond, Ruby, Sapphire and Emerald are the only four precious gemstones, everything else is considered semi-precious. I'd be heading to Emerald to check it out if I wasn't stuck where I am heading for the Rift. Longshot, but might lead to something. It is the _only_ Emerald on the Galmap.

The Old Lady, is a spacer, born and bred for it, her ship is everything to her, given that the short story is a glimpse of her activities prior to Reclamation, the naming of her ship My Heart and Soul just goes to show how deeply she is connected to her ship.

And nothing more...

These are not the clues you are looking for..

Quoting from the illustrious Dr. Walden:

"We can make what is, better, greater and more fulfilling for those who come after us, so they too might fulfill the promise of their mind and body.

Those who do not understand this vision and still seek guidance, must look to their own hearts, else they become adversarial to what we strive to build.
The cynic's road, a mantra of nihilism and ill considered language, abrogates the prime responsibility we have to the universe that made us self-aware.
We must understand what we are and through understanding be empowered to act.

The time is coming my friends, when many such actions will be needed. I hope you will do what is right. The only guidance you need lies in your steady heart."

Excellent speech, sure I've heard it before,,,o yes,,,some what paraphrased,,, Leni Riefenstalh's "Triumph of the Will". Modern editing and filming techniques well ahead of her time, yet she rarely gets credit for them. For some reason her work can be hard to come by these days; still credit where credit is due.

I'm shocked the form filters allow the "W" name though.

Face palm.

I know, how could any of us forgotten our halcyon grammar school days passing notes back and forth in backwards latin to fool the masters.

Well, swive me blind me mateys.

The old lady also knows she is being hunted and her memories wiped. She is taking deliberate actions to remind her future, altered, self of the things she once knew.

To be fair, this has been covered in depth before: https://forums.frontier.co.uk/showthread.php?t=135529&p=3540916&viewfull=1#post3540916

Not so say that 'Core', Cor, roC don't all mean something... it always puzzled me how only 'Commander' is capitalised in Drew's writing of "Good luck, and ... right on, Commander." when generally folk (Drew included) usually write the last part as "... Right on, Commander"

I'm on the fence as to how much we should take from the "Altera" story. It reads a bit like a 'greatest hits' - with small nods or mention to many other things Drew has written before. It's an enjoyable read, and we have been told to treat it as 'lore friendly' material whilst not strictly ED canon.

However, it's hard to deny some of the parallels and connections to this mystery.

Interestingly (at least for those of us pursuing the Greek mythology aspect), Psyche - Greek goddess of the Soul - had to go to the Underworld to prove her love for Eros.
Heart and soul, right there...
