-- THE -- ROBIGO 100% dead! Let's find new one --THREAD--

Is Quince still good? Is it still good for ranking too? Can someone test?

This is how it used to be:

I am temporarily without GPU so I can't test myself unfortunately

So is Robigo now not producing these long rang smuggling mission or is it that you can't run the exploit? I'm fine with the former and don't care about the latter. Someone said something about it being harder to leave a system and dock because of patrols - so maybe we need our own "Kessel Run"

Someone more familiar with the game would need to work it out though.

As I read, some players bombed Robigo with UA so that it more or less shuts down missions or whatever. So, it might still work after a while.

Robigos problem is the technical Plague caused by players dropping UAs which has shut down the mission board and other stuff I think. Longrange smuggling still exist, there are other far out system, but for some reason people are so obsessed with Robigo that they ignore all the other places who still work.

Luigi, please send Mario a PM with the names. thx.

Thanks mate!

On a serious note though Ziljan is telling the truth. If you like to make ship go boom, assassinations can now pay 2-3 million per target, and I've seen rebel transmission salvage missions for 700k+. Which is not bad for a few minutes of work if you play it right.

I've never done the Robigo thing, so I'm not sure how well that pays out.

For ranking up with the Federation though the place to go used to be 17 Draconis. Might be worth checking out. In a previous game save I was able to make 10 million credits every hour or so doing smuggling missions. Lots of charity missions too so you could rank up quick in the Federation Navy.

Since doing the full game reset though I personally refuse to grind. This game is supposed to have a 10-year development lifespan so I don't need to get to the top overnight. Right now I'm totally focused on exploration. I'm gonna run around the galaxy until I hit Elite in exploration. After that? I'll have at least 150 million credits which should put me in a halfway decent combat ship.

Thanks folks! Good hints.

Just to make 1 thing clear. I'm not saying E D is a bad game, it's just boring to me (and I think to others) who bought it for the multiplayer aspect. Expected something different, got this. boom. I'm sure FDev had no idea what they were doing when planning a huuuuuuuuuuge universe with a tiny amount of players. It blasted off in their face. They had no multiplayer gaming experience at all so far. They are simply unexperienced in making multiplayer games. As simple as that. So, it failed. But what I don't like is that they just focus on PvE now. If you fail, you should get up an make it work. Not turn around and look at the bright side that somehow works and hope your failure will be forgotten soon.

I like the new features, the landing radio messages / landing control is great and they put a lot of effort in making the game and missions more transparent and understandable.

I was out in Maia, looking for barnacles [ha!], but I was distracted from my task by a whole message board of lucrative smuggling missions. Luckily I was flying an Anaconda, so was able to take three missions, totalling 15,000,000+. Silent running was fairly important getting into the destination stations.

HINT: I couldn't have picked those missions up in 1.6...

You could check out Maia for smuggling missions there were 7 of them when I was there but they were all locked because my rep was to low. If he had other missions I could have done I would have but there were none. That was the second time checking the mission board. The first time there were 2 donation missions but I don't think they were from the same controlling faction. I went to Maia because I heard it might be a good place but seems pretty thin pickings.

I will check many other stations and hopefully there will be more than just smuggling or ones that are not locked. So far no encounters with the new enhanced AI but that will probably change if I can find some missions to do.

That station named after Terry Pratchett. That one used to be alright (HIP 74290).

So to recap:

Name: Distance from Sol
-----------------------------
Sothis: 494 LY
Ceos: 487 LY
Quince: 480 LY
Robigo: 437 LY
17 Draconis: 412 LY
Wredguia XD-K D8-78: 386 LY
Maia: 383 LY
Takurua: 359 LY
New Yembo: 343 LY
HIP 74290: 329 LY

...but Robigo doesn't work apparently.

Top tip for those wanting to smuggle.

I've been getting better payouts than robigo for 4+ months now from "another station"

Get off you lazy backsides and go visit some other places outside the bubble!

Do you want everything handed to you on a plate? Flip!

Read: The "I can no longer use this cash cow exploit, please find me another way to earn masses of credits without any effort so I can continue to avoid actually playing the game because that invalidates my ability to whine about the game being an uninspiring grind, yes I have a corvette but no I haven't a clue how to fly it but that's cool because now I can also whine about how overpowered the new NPCs are" thread.

Quite a few of us have been saying that for months :) Robigo is tattooed into the minds of the masses... Your words will have no effect until it comes from a youtuber.. welcome to 2016 gaming.

Unfortunately, no.

I logged on and looked around then was going to grab some delivery missions (not the exploit kind) and do an hour or two of courier missions as I had usually done.

Not a single courier mission was on the boards. It was all donations.

So I left back to where I left the anaconda and tried some combat. All in all it was a dreadful night. Lost a week or two worth of credits in short order. You will be super punished if a cop (which seem to be in larger numbers) runs in front of one of your beams. Enough of my griping, I'll try to let it go.

Anyway, yea, seems couriers from Quince are no more or very very rare. Unless yesterday was an aberration. BTW - I am allied with them there so it wasn't the case of not having good standing. Too bad, too because I kind of liked wandering around that part of the universe even if I was being harassed by a few pirates.

In that you are wrong. You seriously underestimate FD. They know very well and have known from the start.
Ed is not a PvP game at heart. David Braben himself said so in yesterdays life feed and he has said so before on several occasions.
The devs view ED as a different type of multi player game for those who choose the Open option.

I think you and the others you referred to did not realize the implications of the size of the ED galaxy when you say you bought it for the multiplayer.
You need a different mindset and need to approach the game differently compared to other games if you seek multiplayer.
You can hook up with friends and play cooperatively. It is that what Braben thinks offers the best experience for those who want mp.
If you are purely pvp minded and want to shoot others then you will have a more difficult time to find targets, especially those who enjoy to fight back.
A huge percentage is not playing the game for the pvp, although they play Open.
