Interdiction Death Squads

So, it appears you flew in a straight line while trying to escape. Fixed weapons such as PAs, railguns and cannons are really easy to hit at long distance when pilots fly in a straight line. I love it when NPCs do that but I never expected players to do the same.

If you submitted then 8sec later you can highwake out. Dont waste your 25 secs.

Of course even when you submit something like 5-10% of the time you get "FSD failure" and the long spool-up/cooldown count. (though I've also mysteriously "evaded" a couple of other interdictions when I throttled down to submit)

IMO Python had this issues even before 2.1. It is slow, sluggish, big and has weak shields for its size/speed/maneuverability. It was fine in 2.0 because NPC-s were useless, but now they are not...
Upgrades will probably help, but untill they are available it is probably a good idea to fly something less vulnerable.

If those FDL had incendiary MC-s... in beta vulture with 2 overcharged incendiary MC-s was able to take out medium NPC ships in a single clip...

Multicannons have a base range of 4 km now. If the FDL was using a mix of medium and Huge multicannons, upgraded with Engineer modifications, they are going to do a lot of damage even to shields in a very short amount of time.

Ok this is getting ABSURD

I'm mining INSIDE AN ASTEROID RING... yes inside with 5 collectors out and collecting - and POOF right in front of me appears an Elite Gunship says he's here to kill me... police go after him immediately he goes after me. My 3 Class 3 pulse lasers have absolutely no effect on his shields. I manage to jump away. I thought t was some random thing.. odd.

I had no missions. It was not power play related.

So I go back into the rings to continue mining. I'm back inside the rings. POOOF like MAGIC right in front of me a Fer De Lance appears tells me to drop all my cargo. I'm like no way.. I just started mining    . So I jump out again but the jump (a known bug) goes from supercruise back to regular space immediately. This bug infuriates me when it comes to jumping out of a ring.

So I'm down to 80% hull now and this guy isn't even losing a ring of shields. I manage to jump out again. Of course IMMEDIATELY "This is the big haul I'm looking for". H'e sgoing to interdict me now..

So I just quit to desktop. I've had enough of this bovine scatology for one night.

This is just absolutely absurd. MAGICAL machines able to pop right into an asteroid belt and attack me and jump out without a cooldown.

These are DEATH SQUADS sent against you. Plain and simple

Time for a new ship. :)

I, for one, welcome our new 25 second far at full range death squad FDL NPC overlords.

i only welcome it if i can do it as well.... so far the npc been able to tank everything i throw at then and still come out with at least 45% hull and no citically dmg weapons even though a class 4 pa hit the canopy dead center and another pa (also class 4 to the wing edge of the ship

the best thing about it was this is a sidewinder that did it.

I have a pretty well equipped Python and the only real thing I need to upgrade is the armor which is still too expensive for me. It doesn't stand a chance against some of these INSTANT DEATH SQUADS that are sent after you and follow you around unrealistically. If I jump and then drop out and jump and drop out there should be multiple wakes and it would take time for them to find me but nope.. poof magic..

A rated Python shields, and shield boosters.

Just took off from a station as I cashed in some missions for mining. I was kitting for mining with some weapons. I hit supercruise to hit another station very close.

Instantly interdicted by a FDL. I submitted. I boosted away immediately full speed. He was far at the full range of my radar I was going to get away easily as usual. Nope - LONG RANGE I start getting hit with multicannons ! Yeah Multicannons from KM's away. Thats not the funny part. He said something along the lines of "you must die" didn't want cargo or anything like that.

So 15 seconds later.. yep 15 seconds my shields are gone, my hull is pulverized and I'm dead 10 more seconds later. I did try some evasive at the end to buy time to jump out but

That was insanely overpowered. No questions asked an NPC jumped in and killed a python that fast.

I lost hours of mining I was going to cash in. No biggie I can do it again but there is something awfully wrong here.

When I was in beta I kitted a FDL and fought with it in res zones. It was NOWHERE NEAR this powerful! No way in hell you could take a Python's shields down that fast at that range and kill it in under 30 seconds.

Something is fishy. I'm thinking occasionally they send out instant death NPC's for people.

Either that or something is SERIOUSLY broken. THE NPC's were tough in beta but nowhere near this deadly.

Could you please post a video of this encounter or something like it? Surely you must be able to replicate it, right?

I'm not saying I don't believe what you said, but I haven't seen any evidence of this behavior.

And you're saying a sidewinder whooped you at long range? Video please.

I get the feeling that there is something wrong with the Python because most people that complain about getting insta-killed seem to be flying it. I had no such experiences in my Cutter and had no trouble getting away from a Elite FDL today, he did shoot me, but was unable to even dent my 6A Shield backed up by 4 A-Rated Boosters. My 2 Pointdefences went off though, so mybee it was because of the FDL did shoot missiles, still, did not feel threatened and made it savely to the station without further problems.

You should maybee submit a bug report and/or post your exact fittings here so we can have a look at it.

There is nothing wrong with the Python, made a thread about it's not bugged in any way I can see. Using it as a mission allrounder and have not lost one yet to any 2.1 NPC encounter, but occasionally it was close. In 2.1 the ship needs more defenses, I fly with 1 PD, 1 Chaff and 2 shield boosters. The ship also needs different handling against the 2.1 NPCs, because they move their ships arround a bit and shoot back. Having turrets on the both medium slots is a good idea against more agile ships. Should be A rated and have military hull of course.

It is not easy to win against an elite FDL anymore, that is a heavy combat ship and the Python just is not. But this won't make the Python bugged in any way, it is working as intended now.

Can someone post a video of one of these death squad interdictions please? I ask since I want to compare it to a video I've just put up of me being picked on and interdicted in my low to mid grade Tradeconda carrying 400T of cargo. I'm not an excellent pilot, but I'm still holding my own against the new NPC AI. Perhaps we can draw some conclusions on why people are finding it so tough in the larger ships.

So you have screwed over some Mafia/Cartel guys by failing their missions and not paying any fines for that, eh [yesnod]
Be assured that these guys won't send some stupid noob after you, they will send hitman that are very good at it, most likely better than anyone, or death squads, tee hee.

For what it's worth, I believe you. The funny thing is (and you mentioned this elsewhere) it seems to happen in pulses. My most recent 12-15 hours in game were quiet, profitable, and encouraging. Now I've upped my defensive capabilities and am waiting to get jumped again to see how they stand up.

It seems like almost all of these "insta-death" complaints are coming from Python owners. Starting to wonder if maybe the issue is a bug with the Python itself...

Cobra Mk IV owner here. Never owned a Python.

For future reference to anyone else posting / going to post on this thread;

This was prior to the Hybrid Weapon fix, and Engineer mods withdrawal from NPCs.

Just in-case we get ahead of ourselves. :D
