Don't know if this is just me or a bug ? - but not getting any POI "blue circles" at all on planets - at any height. Went looking at known barnacle sites and found a crashed anaconda - shows up fine on srv radar - but from ship I found it only by eyesight - was totally "invisible" to ship radar.

Just found a "double" barnacle at Pleiades Sector JC-U B3-2 1 25.33 25.52 - where there was one previously. Invisible to ship radar like I said above, but fine on SRV - doesn't look like a glitch - seems like a second has "grown" alongside the original in a mirror layout - all nodes already harvested when found in open. - not in group or solo ,and despawned when I returned to open.
edit - and promptly popped back into existance as I drove off (in open) - actually crashed into the damn thing.
2nd edit - same thing happened in group and solo - barnacles just pop into being as I drive along - so look like it's permanent but always "looted".

That is normal. Eyesight is the only way to spot Barny from a ship.

Not just barnacles - I literally can get no "hits" on radar for anything eg crashed Anaconda 2 feet from my ships nose is totally invisible to ships radar.

The crashed anaconda is a "unique" poi and not a "random spawn" poi that the blue circles are for. Also the blue circles will only appear when your ship is ~2km above the surface. In addition to this, since 2.1, the number of man-made "random spawn" poi are now greatly reduced when outside the bubble, so there'll be a lot less of them in the Pleiades, but I have seen a few crashed wrecks (just bits of ship, not intact ships).

I literally haven't seen a single "blue circle" poi of any kind at all from the air since 2.1 - regardless of altitude - found it odd that Anaconda didn't show - again at any altitude - went straight up.
Will try a random planet when I get back to more inhabited parts, but, the "blue circle" thing was pretty ropey before - seems of no use at all now (if it even works at all).

Also try increasing your sensor range - by default it's zoomed all the way in when flying over the surface - zoom it out to get better range and more chance of seeing a POI circle. You may need to assign a control binding to the sensor zoom.

Yup, have tried zoomin in and out, no difference. Was fine up till 2.1, and I've searched a lot of Planets in my time - so something has changed.

Has Professor Palin set up shop on Maia A3a yet? The Galnet article on the 19th of May said he was 'expected to depart for Maia A 3 a within the week'.

I thought I'd pop over and pay a visit, but there was nothing on the map. Presuming it's somewhere there, do you think we need to discover it ourselves, or will we need to meet some criteria to trigger an 'invitation' like the other engineers?

FYI: don't get too hyped with those double Barnacles.
It's a well known glitch, it happens sometimes that a Barnacle spawns two times, one on the other.
I've seen barnacles flying in the sky, buried under the ground, one up on the other and so on,
"...and all those moments will be lost in time like tears in rain..."

Palin is met through increasing rank with other engineers

I've seen POI circles in 2.1.

Is his base visible on the surface before you get the invite? Anyone know the coords?

I'm helping Chopper with characterising the status of all the known Barnacle locations.

We've got a much smaller number of intact Barnacle than before. Even fewer are intact and with no defences.

Once we've got all the planets surveyed (should be done Sunday), we'll publish the sheet with the results.
Early results seem to indicate that as many as three quarters of all Barnacles are now in a destroyed state.

Sorry for my terrible english. I'm searching barnacles or unknown artifacts in ngc 6357 nebula.
Out of pleiades is a foolish search? anyone located anything out of pleiades?
Thank you for the patience

My tilt is still on Barnard's Loop. The huge amount of permit-locking around it, while the loop itself (except some very edge-cases which are part of the horse-head) is still open and accessible through the Flame Sector, *and* the marking on the Barnacle, and the fact the loop itself has a rough radius of 130-160LY just like the UA shell, all say Barnard's Loop.

I know we've been there before, and found nothing, but the same was the case with the UAs pointing to Merope. If they were pointing to the central system with Barnacles (which we don't know is the *actual* reason it points there, but it kinda fits and Merope was the first planet found with them), they were doing *before* Horizons was released, kinda as a precursor. In that sense, the symbol on the Barnacles (if it were Barnard's Loop) is also a precursor hint.

That said, if I'm applying more past-predicting-future behaviour, then this too will also be a random needle-haystack search just like finding the Barnacles was, at which point I tap out as that's not the sort of gameplay I like.

EDIT: BTW, anybody scanned the Asp Convoys yet?
