OP, your post reeks of honesty, and I respect that. +1. In my post below, when I say 'you', I don't mean you specifically or anyone else specifically, just 'you' the reader. Okay, time for some honesty on my part
I've come to peace with my place in the Elite Universe. I've found a small part of the game that I enjoy (enjoyed?) immensely, and pretty much ignore the rest as their is no joy in it for me. I'm a Bounty Hunter ('Pirate Popper' as I call the roll) and that's pretty much it. I enjoy going out into the RES' and getting into scrap after scrap for as long as my wrists will take it
I really have no interest in exploration, mining, trading, Powerplay (or the BGS), CQC, planetary landings, or the latest, Engineers. I had a brief interest in missions with the onset of 2.0, but the bugginess and unreliability has taken me off that as well. For me personally, it's all a grind without end in sight, so I don't do it. Pirate Popping is the only activity that keeps my interest and keeps my butt in the cockpit.
I accept that I'm the odd man out, and I don't complain about the other activities in the game because I know that other people enjoy their own things as well. It's not called Elite: Jypson after all
I just cross my fingers and hope that each update that comes out doesn't adversely effect the one thing I do enjoy too much, and carry on with my own thing.
I guess what I'm trying to say is, I think we would all be better off if we learned to accept that FDev is going to do what they do, and it's our job to find our own joy in there somewhere and not worry about the rest. If you're running into something not fun, stay clear, that part isn't meant for you. It's meant for someone else who does enjoy it. It's not called Elite: You after all
And if you can't accept that, I recommend playing something else. There are a lot of great games out there, and there's no reason to be upset and fester about one in particular. For example, I just started playing Rebel Galaxy, and I'm loving it! Maybe RES' aren't the be-all end-all after all....
