about to lose 68 hours of gameplay

Leave the game as i do ! I had 600 hours played, one billion in bank, the bigger ship. But i stop playing this game, i have no fun, it take to much time for nothing, completely rng. So Bury the game is the best thing you can do and enjoy the sun out there !

600hrs and 1bil is the prob, it used to take 2 or 3 times that long to get half as much and people didn't leave.
You get it all too soon and then get bored... then leave.

@OP, at the rick of sounding rude I think your biggest mistake was forsaking all advice on the internet and insisting on learning everything on your own. Maybe that's what you wanted and you enjoy it, but with it you should be expecting to make mistakes and having some of your progress reset (although the recent update and bugs didn't help). It sucks when it happens, but it's part of the game. IMO there's way too much to learn about ED that's not explained in-game, and never will be, for it to be played very casually. I think I had played 20+ hours before I figured out which way I needed to point my ship on a landing pad. ATM I've put in around 460 hours and I am still learning new things about the game from other players that I would never have figured out on my own.

If you're not wiling to play in open, maybe you could create or join a private group that can help you out? It's been a while since I've seen it plugged, but there's a group called Mobius that is notoriously known for being PvE only, although I don't know what their policy is if someone does decide to PvP. A quick google search led me to https://elitepve.com/.

Wow you're a dude........... Still trolling?! ....

Hey SirW, like others have mentioned above, you should look into the Mobius group, I think you'd like it.

I'm in Mobius most of the time, and I'll be willing to help you out too by dropping some valuable stuff for ya, no probs.
Just let us know fella. o7

Hi,

i'm one of the casual guys here and i can tell you i'm more than unhappy with the new NPCs.

I am an awfull fighter and i know it. I'm also short on time. So i don't manage to get much better.
Since release day i played for 68 hours. I never used any tools to find top trading routes or cared for any ship builds that are discussed.
I just traveled from system to system earning some credits doing small delivery missions and a little trading.
Ending up with a Cobra Mk III with mediocre equipment and 2 million Credits in the bank. The last days melted my little cash like
ice in the sun. Because i never ever manage to escape any attacker. Now my ship stands in the docking bay of my home planet again
and i do not dare to start. Because the next time i get smashed, i will not be able to rebuy my ship. I will lose everything i played for
the last 1 1/2 years. You can't imagine how disapointed and upset i am right now.

So i beg to you FD, please give people like me a chance to stay in this game.
An option to choose a beginner difficulty level in solo play would be totaly fine for me. I don't need a challange.
I have challanges enough in real life.

simple way to earn millions : go to high res - tail cops - kill all they kill - its very very rare for npcs to kill u if u dont have cargo.
but watch out for feds coming in line of fire, wierd "attack WANTED NPCS get Bounty and run as fast as you can from Fed response" bug
but yeah - i do agree npcs are insanely hard now.

OP don't start killing NPC's left right and centre - that'll only get your combat rank up and risk getting harder attacks.

You've gone too far too quickly. As others have said the MkIII is the fastest ship in the game - D-rate the rest and A-rate the thrusters. Maybe fight the interdiction if you're brave but better submit and with four pips to shields and two to engines (in case of OP weapons) boost and boost directly away from them - you turn FAST as the boost kicks in just make sure you fly directly away. Switch to four to engines if their weapons aren't hurting and as you get further and then jump out. Either just to supercruise if you're close, but if you find they keep following you then jump system and they usually find some easier target

Best of all get docked, get back in a sidey and don't leave it until you don't lose it (easily) - it's a great little ship despite it's apparently fragility and you can learn all you'll need to know in it without ending up bankrupt. It's worth those harder hours learning how to throw it around so you don't lose ships again - once you've worked out the right kid (Point defence! chaff!) got control of thrusters and turning fast and strafing around things you'll possibly never lose another ship if you're the type to avoid combat. But first to do that you've got to learn to fly not just float - it's no worse than a car or bike, but prettier and with lasers :D

If you have an A rated Python, then you've played long enough to know when to fight or flee right? Dbs was bugged?

There are certainly situations with the overpowered/impossible weapons (that are being removed by DEV) in which fleeing is simply not an option... I had it happen last night, and trust me that "flee before dying" was not possible.

Submittign to interdictions is the cause of many player's grief. If you get away from an NPC you hae submitted to, he will chase you into supercruise and probably interdict you again. This is the cause of many of the chain interdiction problems that players have. But if you fight an interdiction and lose, but then get away, the NPC is far less likely to chase you again.
It won't matter to a Cobra that it takes longer for the FSD to cool, as once you are out of range you are going to stay out of range.
The rest of your advice is all good.

If time is a real issue for you maybe just don't play the game until you have a good amount of hours to spend on it. Elite really isn't a pick up and blast off kind of game. You have to account for a lot of things before you leave a starport. You just need to focus on making a nice sized nest egg before leaving for the deep blue.

Grab a sidey and make a few creds for cobra insurance and hit your favorite mining/trade route next time you play. And don't join powerplay.

OP: Learn how to run away!

You are in a Cobra MK III for crying out loud! One of the fastest ships in the game! It is the defacto number one ship to learn to be a space pirate in... for a reason. You can escape.

So please, spend some time thinking about how to escape because you absolutely should be able to every single encounter you face.

And you can also just drop your cargo.

He could also make back the money in a few hours farming a LOW RES site. Just stay with the security forces and get a few shots in and get credit. Just don't accidentally hit the security forces like I did a few times. :)

The problem is a lot of people don't know how to play this game. I can't blame them because the game doesn't explain anything. Way too few tutorials for a game like this. You have to hunt information on the Internet.

My Python is docked until the current situation gets fixed, and I'm flying around mostly in my Imp Eagle, cuz it's fun and cheap. I'm hoping things will become more enjoyable again soon. I really love this game, but it seems like the devs are focused on bringing more and more combat into it, and making the non-combat roles much less fun because of it. I guess we'll see where it goes.

It seems that they just don't get that being interrupted regularly and forced to do something you don't really enjoy (combat) is a problem. Can you imagine if it were the other way around? What if people who were out enjoying combat somewhere were suddenly interrupted and forced to do a trade run before they could do any more combat? It's the same thing, just reversed, that happens to traders now.

Oh well. They'll either fix it or they won't, and we will all vote with our wallets.

Yes, try doing that when interdicted by a pirate demanding your cargo, and you don't have any. Happens regularly.

I got a lot of good tips and many help offers from you here. I am really greatful for this.
But i'm done with Elite if it stays as it is now. Fleeing all the time isn't fun and with an avarage play time of an hour a week i will never become a good combat pilot.

I willl play some Eurotruck Simulator the next time.

6 mill is nothing to many of us here, especially the Robigo runners. I'd be happy to drop enough for him to upgrade to that build, Am sure it's the same for many others here.

Good luck with that :)

A friend of mine tried to give me some credits by dropping Imperial Slaves .. we had to do them a bit at a time (to avoid depop) and after a very long time faffing about with builds / prospectors / etc we started transferring. (Him Corvette to myself in a Cobra). Took about 30 minutes to transfer and sell 1 million credits worth of goods.

Actually if I was an evil person, I could point out that anyone who wants to transfer large sums should act while the barnacles are bugged. What better commodity to gift then the one that sells at 90k a pop in the bubble? An Asp full of that buys itself XD

I've done this many times for commanders who needed some help.
Yes, it's time consuming, but not difficult once you get into a routine.
Ship positioning is the key to efficient limpet transfers.

I imagine most PvP players that take part in a big PvP battle have a Type-9 back in dock, those FDLs do not come cheap. Lose the FDL a few times on a Saturday night, and I expect they're all out trading in their type-9s to replace the loses before getting back into the FDL and off pirating Type-6s. Probably not true, but it makes me feel better!

Just curious, how would you introduce risk to balance rewards ffor the trade outside of interdiction?

Actively looking for combat will be a bad idea if you aren't a somewhat trained fighter. AI are still survivable though.

In escaping you have a lot of options, and choices to make. Good thrusters and a good power distributor will get you boosting well. Add a heatsink and switch on silent running to give you an edge.

I just came back after a pause of about half a year to see what's going on. Was contributing to the CG in 63 G. with my upgraded ASP Explorer and flying "boom time" delivery missions in Solo the last few days. Got interdicted multiple times but could evade at least half of the tries I'd say. From the ones I couldn't evade I can only remember three being some kind of dangerous. One was by a Vulture which I didn't wanted to fight so I immediately started to boost away from it and got away without much damage by just jumping. Second one was with a wing of pesty Eagles that made me leave the area the same way after a short time and third a Dropship that took down my shields and then managed to damage all six multis I've mounted so I had to leave him with ~30% hull left. I don't see NPCs as a much of a problem so far but they're surely more challenging which is good IMO as Shooting single Condas with an ASP and the like was simply .

What I have done (for the moment) is to buy a cheaper ship to fly about in with a much lower rebuy cost.
Keep the cobra in storage.
At the very worst, if you run out of credits, you will end up in the free sidewinder, but still have the cobra to go back to later when things are patched up.
