about to lose 68 hours of gameplay

Good luck with that :)

A friend of mine tried to give me some credits by dropping Imperial Slaves .. we had to do them a bit at a time (to avoid depop) and after a very long time faffing about with builds / prospectors / etc we started transferring. (Him Corvette to myself in a Cobra). Took about 30 minutes to transfer and sell 1 million credits worth of goods.
How about 10t MA,job less than 10min, with near 1Mill transfer.

Stand by for the following:

1: People telling you to "git gud"
2: People telling you this is how the game is supposed to be.
3: People telling you, in many more words, to be less casual.
4: Old salts telling stories of their many achievements in the '84 Elite and how much easier we have it today.

As a fellow casual player who only logs 2-3 hours a week, I feel your pain.
You forgot to add "People who generalize everyone else just so they can act as if their opinion is the only correct one, while accusing everyone who does not agree with them of doing exactly what they are doing right now"

People call me narcissistic on these forums but I'm only like that because I see people like you and I can't help but feel pity for that person.

And you can also just drop your cargo.

He could also make back the money in a few hours farming a LOW RES site. Just stay with the security forces and get a few shots in and get credit. Just don't accidentally hit the security forces like I did a few times. :)
I agree Low RES farming using security effectively as wingmen really is a good way to earn credits and learn to fly/fight. They are a bit more tolerant of being hit nowadays too. I've hit them with a few stray shots as they do me, they've never turned on me for that, but if I hit a wanted criminal a fraction of a second before my scan is finished, they come down on me like a ton of bricks!

Heh...I got schooled last night. Was doing a deal with someone for Engineer commodities, and the only ship I could find in his area which could carry that much cargo was a T7, but no shield upgrade was available.

I got interdicted by a Master Sidey along the way, and got absolutely shredded - left with 50% hull (and not a mark on the Sidey).

I ain't leavin' home without my Vulture ever again.

Hi,

i'm one of the casual guys here and i can tell you i'm more than unhappy with the new NPCs.

I am an awfull fighter and i know it. I'm also short on time. So i don't manage to get much better.
Since release day i played for 68 hours. I never used any tools to find top trading routes or cared for any ship builds that are discussed.
I just traveled from system to system earning some credits doing small delivery missions and a little trading.
Ending up with a Cobra Mk III with mediocre equipment and 2 million Credits in the bank. The last days melted my little cash like
ice in the sun. Because i never ever manage to escape any attacker. Now my ship stands in the docking bay of my home planet again
and i do not dare to start. Because the next time i get smashed, i will not be able to rebuy my ship. I will lose everything i played for
the last 1 1/2 years. You can't imagine how disapointed and upset i am right now.

So i beg to you FD, please give people like me a chance to stay in this game.
An option to choose a beginner difficulty level in solo play would be totaly fine for me. I don't need a challange.
I have challanges enough in real life.

I totaly agree with you I also was a casual player I lost 2 x fully A rated Pythons that had taken me weeks to purchase and upgrade, and now, like you I'm stuck in a station
too frightened to leave in case I finish up back in a Sidewinder, I am so dissapointed with this update that I have just sent in a ticket to request a refund, this is no longer the game I originally purchased.
It has become a game purely for adrenaline addicted combat junkies, so my take on this is, let them have their combat game, I'll find something else.

Go to the Ngolibardu , Dock at Vernadsky depot so that it saves you there first.

Now fly out , go to the very close by Hi-Rez zone.
Dont engage anything YET.
Find the police,, there in there and in some force usually.

Look for the police fighting or for any combat going on between NPC's.
**make sure the craft that is being fired upon is Wanted!**

Ok now you have found a fight and youve identified the wanted party.. shoot at them but not enough to take the aggro from the NPC who engaged first.
If you do this right then the police or others will take down the target and you will get a nice fat credit injection.

Once your friendly / ally and the Police show up as green on your HUD... target the wanted ships,, give them a quick burst and turn tail heading for the Cops..
once near let your chaser hit you with a couple of shots ,,, the cops will activate and engage.
Rinse repeat..

I make on average , with very little effort 3 million or more credits an hour and it could be much more but I honestly cant be !.

If you want to go a hunting together just message me and ill see what I can do to help.

OP
Try exploration as that is very calm and sooting gameplay. I try to do some exploration near the edge of the inhabited bubble, and combine it with a little scavenging.
Pre 2.1, I could scavenge for hours without any form of contact with NPCs. Now in 2.1, I have to be more careful and this in my opinion is more than welcome.

This game has been lacking challenging AI since release. It's funny though how things can change for the players... I've been fed up with boring gameplay for a long time, while others have been cheering, now when the tables are turned, I'm happier than ever while others want to quit.

Well, I'll give some advice for escaping pirates.

Step the first) When interdicted, throttle to zero and submit, this will reduce your cool down and make you spin less.
Part dux) Boot your little heart out, boost and boos and just never stop boosting.
3) Hit FSD
Shifty Five) Be not dead.

Haha! The classic "I am casual and have no fun, so if you have fun you must be a hardcore junkie!" line. You know what? Its not the 'casuals' who are having an issue, it are the finger-pointing whiners. Its not about how much time you spend in-game, but with what mentality you play it. :)

@SirW and any other casual player who's having a problem with the upgraded AI, you certainly have my sympathy.

I had a great and very intense weekend fighting in a Hi-RES at the bounty hunting CG in an Imp Courier, and while I had a great time I got shredded a few times. I did wonder how beginners and casual players could be expected to cope with the AI upgrades (and the improved modules the NPCs were sporting).

I ran a few of the new missions as well and the NPCs that bother you during the missions are tougher than those in the RES (maybe this is just because there's no authority ships around). So for casual players who like to run a few missions while travelling from system to system, it must be especially tough.

I'm going to give the same advice as many others on here, switch to a sidewinder or eagle for a while and head to a RES (preferably a Low-RES) to get used to the new AI. I bought a second account a couple of months ago to join in with community goals while I was out exploring with my main CMDR and I found it was really, really fun to be back in a sidewinder, it's a great little ship.

Against the old AI it was easy to make enough credits at a RES with a starter sidie to upgrade to a C rated Viper after a single visit. I'm not sure how well that would go with the upgraded AI, but in your position it should at least be easy to finance upgrading the sidewinder purely from RES profits. I'd just stick to that until you're comfortable taking on the NPCs.

With a starter sidewinder you just need to be patient, keep 3 or 4 pips in shields and don't shoot at anything until the security ships have almost finished them off (wait until the bad guy's shields are down and hull is below 50%). Then after making sure that they're definitely marked as wanted on your target display shoot them a couple of times and you'll get paid the bounty when the security ships kill them. The security forces have also benefitted from the exact same AI enhancements as the pirates, so the swarms of authority ships buzz around RES sites butchering pirates these days; you just need to wait a few minutes for the RES to fill up.

Lots of people have been recommending A-grade thrusters, etc. Personally if money is scarce, then I'd recommend fitting C-grade modules in a sidie / eagle / viper-III (if you can afford one). C-grade costs a fraction of the price of A-grade modules, but they're almost as good. That second CMDR that I got had a C-grade Viper-III and a C-grade Type-6 in no time at all.

If you enjoy PvE and don't ever wish to experience any threat of PvP attacks then as others have said, you really should consider the Mobius group, at the very least you’d be able to meet up with friendly CMDRs who'd help you out of your current financial problems.

To be honest though, the PvP problems in open really aren't as bad as they're made out to be, some of the current NPC ships are more aggressive than an human player that you're likely to meet. I've played mostly in open since the pre-launch days and I've yet to lose a single ship to a PvP attack (I've also not killed anyone). I've had half a dozen PvP encounters in that time, all of which were either in Leesti (which is deserted in open these days) or at community goals.

In contrast to that, I've lost 4 or 5 ships to NPCs since the AI update! Lol

So even in open mode, the game is pretty safe apart from obvious places like the starter systems and CGs. I normally stay in open, except for BH / combat CGs where I switch to solo in order to have the instance to myself. After a weekend of really intense solo-PVE in the Hi-RES, I had a quiet hour in Mobius at the trade CG, but I find that the instancing doesn't work as well as in open. I only met two other players at the CG in Mobius, there are always loads to players to meet at CGs in open (and often in Mobius, like I say the instancing just seems worse than open).

I'm a casual player and so far the only dangerous AI I've come up against was at a signal source threat 4. When I've been running missions or when i have interdicted a ship.

Go to a low RES or just plod around in space and it's still easy street.

I have noticed a very obvious decrease in difficulty in last nights session compared to the day after launch.

OP you may be pleasantly relieved now, it may not be as tough as you think any more.

(its still harder than 2.0 however)

I couldn't agree more. I love the AI updates, but I'm normally flying an unarmed ship in open (weapons just slow me down) except when I'm at a combat-CG. I've just fitted some MC turrets to my Type-9 for the first time in case I don't submit quickly enough in an interdiction, but I've not needed to deploy them yet.

The new AI makes the game more exciting, FD just need to iron-out a few of the kinks. Making Hi-Sec systems a little safer, and Low-Sec systems more dangerous would help - I think this is already mostly working though, I don't normally get interdicted in Hi-Sec systems unless I'm running a mission.

i was a little nervous having listened to all the doom and gloom and not having had the opportunity to play since 2.1 went live. now i've done a few trading runs in my corvette, before changing to my weaponless explorer asp running around getting exploration data for Ms Farseer. I have only been interdicted once in two days and was easy as usual to stop and boost away

Cant see the problem here. I can out run elite AI in the python and jump with no issue, the cobra is the fastest ship in game and boosting and high waking should be a breeze in it. Really it just a bit of practice, earning money is so easy now in game that a cobra rebuy is peanuts. Your in one of the best ships for running in game so run. No real excuses here I'm afraid.

Really, why don't you buy a cobra and get a handle on the game before looking to change it. It's no way as bad as ye all think. The herd mentality is kicking in and ye are all in a state of panic. A few simple rules to keep in mind and ye would have near 100% survivability.

Edit-Also Rule no.1, don`t fly what you cannot afford to lose

Op learn how to run away. With a Cobra you are gonna have a close to 100% success rate. The game starts to live up to its name and ppl go wahhhhh...

I've done it loads of times for cmdrs, defintely not taking 30 minutes for 1 million credits.

I know this thread was posted yesterday but wasn't there a server side tweak to make NPC easier in that they don't really use 2.1 mods anymore barring a few weak low level stuff?

Shouldn't OP be having an easier time now? I assume from the OP his troubles were from before the tweak?

That's the thing in this game, unless you're carrying literally all your funds in form of cargo, or come back from a two week exploration and lose everything when you lose your ship, nothing is actually lost.

Also, 68 hours is nothing...
