Jaques Station in Beagle Point. Is it really a good idea?

i expect Frontier to annouce its been lost , but at the same time, it may be placed in a random spot, and a series of news articles and clues etc will be placed to search for it, he might be found in a completley different spot somewhere in the deep, forming part of the missing

This is intriguing, this situation. So what do we know so far?

GalNet report, 26th May 3302:

There are a couple of theories as to what could have happened to the apparently doomed Starport.

1. Catastrophic malfunction during jump, causing Starport to breakup and destruct. Quite a possible scenario. Especially as the GalNet stated:

Actions to be taken: Scan the various systems for possible wreackage in space. Near impossible task and would require hundreds of commanders to report in if they come across any possible remnants of Jaques Station.

2. Miscalculation in jump causing Starport to crash into the planet (Beagle Point A1) or worst, into the star (Beagle Point A).
Actions to be taken: Carry out a search and rescue mission of Beagle Point A1 in the hopes it crashed, rather than burnt up by colliding with the star.

3. Miscalculation in jump causing Starport to travel to an alternate destination.
Actions to be taken: Hoping it has jumped to a non hostile system, hopefully an eyewitness will make contact and report in it's actual location.

4. Starport's jump was interupted by hostile attack. There are a few culprits who could be responsible for such an act. Pirate raid, chief suspects being the Kumo Crew, although might seem a bit brazen for them, although I wouldn't put it past them. Could be a rebel attack, lashing out at past failures. The group Emperor's Dawn come to mind, bitter at their defeat at the hands of the Empire. Would seem unlikely they would stoop to such an act as it would create negative propaganda for them. The final suspects would be something far more sinister and troubling. That would be an enemy on unknown origin, possibly alien. Possibly, Thargoidian, even.
Actions to be taken: All commanders should remain vigilant, and on high alert. Report activites of all known pirate and rebel groups, ensure your ship is well armed and defended against hostile actions. Any possible Thargoidian activity must be reported as a high priority. DO NOT ENGAGE. Keep a distance, observe and report.

To sum up, whatever has happened to Jaques Station, it doesn't look good. Whether it has crashed or been destroyed, come under rebel or pirate attack, to being lost in a distant, undiscovered part of the universe, it's chances are very bleak. But if it has come under attack from a formidable foe, such as the Thargoids, then it will be a very bleak future for us all...

Commander Shark reporting for duty.
Glory to the Empire!!

I'll accept and ponder your theory if he doesn't show up at all Thursday or Friday. But as far as rumor MB said himself. "About a week" until then all alarmist posts are all unsound theory lol

Essentially what we're saying that there's going to be a rag-tag fleet of ships hanging around waiting for a cyborg to turn up in a huge station, and there might be armed aliens involved there somewhere?

I think I might rename my ship to Caprica

Well it seems he didn't show up after the update after all..... I'd be lieing if I said I wasn't upset... I guess we wait and see for galnet to post something again and keep pinging his name in the galaxy map...

Still no sign of him at BP that I can see. I had a brief wander around the system looking for parallax movements just in case the port was there but not showing on nav.

I checked 1,2,3,7 & 8 . Nothing new there.
I was rather hoping we would find something after this mornings down time, since placing jaques can be done purely from the server side

Not sure what to do now :(

Start heading back? Gather materials needed for the engineers as I do so (did someone mention selenium?) and get ready to sell this data, I guess. Hopefully by the time I hit the bubble, all the AI and insta-death will be sorted

Maybe it crashed in the dark side of Darwin's Legacy :s

we'll need to survey it looking for a POI.

That's 7 451.85 square kilometres to search.

Olivia and I were talking about it and we're going to stick around for a bit longer to see if anything changes, around a week maybe. I know for me RL is going to make it hard to get on for me for next week.. so I'll have a good reason to wait. This weekend tho :) I'm going to gather as many materials as I can and see how far up I can go from the galactic plane :D

My problem is that I want to be back for SEPP CGs when they appear, and I don't want to have to BB 65KLY. I'd like to take in some of the sights on the way back.

I am again lacking time to play this week (work, workshops...) so i am also staying for at least week more.
I want to see if Jaques will appear or we will need to go search for him.
Also i will be glad if he show's up as i hope that i will be able to make few small adjustments on my ship before departing BP and going west.

I'll be hanging about until Sunday. Thought I'd do a bit more prospecting in the system while I'm there. I now have enough components for 20 basic jump boosts, but you can never have enough.
