Remembering trading prices

Was a little slow on the uptake with this, now I just use my phone to take photos of the commodities at different stations!

It's better to focus on demand and supply, rather than prices.
This isn't FE2 any more (heck I'd go so far as to say this isn't X3 Terran Conflict / Rebirth / EVE)
I don't need to write prices down or take photos.

Alien can you elaborate, I had difficulty to start with, had to use one of the 'cheat-sheets'

I'd like someone to elaborate on the supply/demand too, as at the moment I'm going by price (though I appreciate prices will fluctuate soon).

If supply is high, prices will be low. If demand is low, prices will be low. If supply is low, prices will be high. If demand is high, prices will be high.

Look at the global average price, too. It is easy to ensure you buy low and sell high. Optimising it requires data about prices where you are going.

And prices are already fluctuating.

My Issue is remembering where I've been.. lol

In game journal is a definite need.... (Where the £$%$^ was I...?)

Now its begining to set in... I like Chango Dock - Dahan Gateway thats my preferred run

With only 5 systems to trade into and quite a few players doing the trading (not counting the silly hackers  who are trying to be nice by dumping canisters, but don't realize they are ruining the game for everybody else who is trying to make a honest living) the gain from trade runs is dropping fast.

Can an alpha backer please answer this......

I'm curious to know, in the event that you're blown up / have your cargo stolen - cargo hatch targeted, or otherwise gloriously fail a trade run......is it possible to load an earlier game save or are you forced to start from scratch again?

The way the saves should work is that the game continuously saves your progress (or lack of it) so if you blow up, the game puts you back in (either you pay to get your ship back or you get a free default sidewinder), you might lose your cargo.

How the game should NOT work is that you are able to reload to a previous point you have saved. In Multiplayer, you make an action and that action is communicated to everyone else, whether that's buying or selling or killing someone or getting blown up. Because it gets communicated to everyone else, you can't simply reload. Multiplayer doesn't work like that.

Maybe someone else can explain it better than me.

Its supposed to be tested in alpha, the idea is to find things like this so they can be worked against for the actual game release if they are a problem. What they're doing is helping to identify any issue - not to play it as a game for fun

If you "die" then you are transported back to the station in a escape pod and (if you have the cash) you can pay your insurance excess to get your previous ship and equipment back. Or if not have a new Sidewinder with the default equipment.

If you are playing Ironman then you have to manually eject, or dying will give you the option to revert to normal mode.

If you mess up and fail a trade run or get pirated then you are out of luck.

What I seem to have seen on a number of YouTube clips is commanders starting from a previous position - which is why I was asking regarding 'save' positions.

I take it what was happening was that they were starting the game afresh / from scratch then?

I agree with you though, that commanders shouldn't be able to restart from a 'save' position.

Thanks

So what would happen if you're out in the field, getting your ass whooped, and you realise you are doomed, what happens if you rage quit?

I'll assume you just vanish from the game from the player doing the shooting's point of view, but what about you?

I suppose the only thing that would stay with you is any damage sustained and any cargo you might have held onto during the fight.

When you reload back in after a period of time do you just appear at the nearest station? Do you just appear in space where you left?

I was sure there had been a mocked up trading screen many months ago that recorded purchase price against your cargo holdings. Did I dream that one?

They need to put the price that you paid for an item on the screen. Later when you have a hold full of a lot of cargo it would be nice not to have to write down all the prices you paid for each item.
