Am I weird for not liking the big ships?

Even tho I will do combat, and trading in a Conda. I've mainly used mine for exploration.

I also have a thing for the ship's bridge.

I refuse to fly any large ships (and most/all of the "medium" ones) until I can get some crew on my bridge. Flying the big/medium ships solo just feels wrong.

OP, you're not weird in the slightest. I've been flying since early beta, and I have 40% of my time in a Courier, 25% in a Viper 3, 20% in a Fer de Lance, with the remaining smattered about in other types. I've flown the biggest, I've flown the smallest. I like the small single seat fighters the most.

IRL it's the same, I've never liked flying anything bigger than a Beech 1900 / 99. Most of my friends who fly jumbos would much rather be in a Cessna.

OP, apparently no one else is willing to tell you the truth, so I'm just gonna say it. Yes. Yes you are weird for not liking the big ships, you weird weirdo [cool]

Eh, different ships are fun for different reasons - I like the firepower of the big ships, but zipping around in a small ship can be a lot of fun. My favourite ships are the Asp and Vulture, and I've recently parked them up for a Imp Eagle I'm working on outfitting for bounty hunting - don't know how it's going to go, but at least it'll be cheap...

Definitely neither weird nor alone. I've never flown anything bigger than an Asp, and will probably never fly anything larger than an FdL again except possibly for exploration.

Nope. Python and Asp are my go-to's, T9 is the only big ship I fly and that's for specific purposes. Not being able to dock at outposts = 33% less stuff to do for me...

I tend to prefer small to mid-size ships, myself. Just cannot get the feel for some of the bigger ones. Spent lots of time in the Type-6 (smallest of the ships requiring a medium pad), and lately I have been doing some flying in a Viper MkIV skimming planet surfaces, just for fun. Thinking about picking up another Courier, or trying an Imperial Eagle.

I normally mess with BGS stuff, so it is fun to see that even in a small ship, directed actions can have a notable impact.

I've tried an Anaconda, didn't like it, flown a Python which was okay, but I always seem to end up back in my Asp or Vulture, Hell I'd probably still be happy in a Sidewinder if it was about 20% bigger and better and even now I take one out for the occasional spin, albeit blinged up a little, anybody else feel the same?

I like Big ships, on the other way.

Am I strange? No.

Most simply, we have different tastes... :)

Very interesting question popped into my head right now.

Am I weird for liking any and every ship in the game and feeling their character, how they behave differently is amazing to me?

I've not yet flown every ship in the game, however there isn't one ship I didn't like among all the other ships. They all have a different feel and flying pattern to them so mastering their quirks became some kind of an obsession for me.

My absolute favorites are, in no particular order:

FAS, Anaconda, Asp Exp, Cobra MkIII, Imp. Eagle, Vulture, T9, DBX, Viper MkIII, Eagle, and Sidewinder.

Big ships handle like space pigs. My conda is in dock while I collect FSD upgrade materials in my imperial eagle. Much more fun....except when you      to go somewhere.

I like the big ships except for the Cutter. I get more enjoyment out of the T-9 because at least it's got some bulk freighter appeal while the Cutter just spins against the way that it drives. The high speed and poor braking performance makes it impractical for planetary landings and docking efficiently and its' mediocre combat potential is well documented.

There's nothing wrong with liking the small or medium ships too though. I personally like the FDL and DBS.

Dear OP you are perfectly fine and simply know the best
booze is served on outposts, locations those big ship huggers never will
dock at.

I don't really like the big ships.
Recently I changed my main ship to a Python after nearly 18 months happily flying a Cobra. I struggle with it, to be honest!
I think it's just a case of adjusting to it, which will take time.

Why would anyone be considered wierd for personal preference in ships ? Personally I'm exactly the other way. I love my three big ships and like my mediums too, but I hate small ones for the most part. I hate aiming for a small docking pad with a mosquito that zips all over the place at the slightest thruster appliance, I hate having needles for guns and being unable to survive medium to heavy fire. I like bringing down a behemoth on a football field. I like being relatively secure, either being able to kill or run if outmatched. But I do not like having to run too much. And while it may be somewhat difficult to bring large weapons on target, the bites they take out of shields and hull are just satisfying.

Not liking big ships is perfectly fine. Not exactly my taste, but yours is not my business. :D

I'm over here drinking tea on the foredeck of my flying brick aka Conda :D
