Good Job!

2.1 looking good.

I've got to say good job.

Every release has its issue and 2.1 has had hardly any.

Yes people got bottoms kicked by the AI. That's exactly what has happend on every release. Power Play got a frak attack. No surprise there. So business as usual for a release.

I didnt get much time to beta test. I just checked that book marks were working and that was enough for me. So I just played it as released.

I combat logged loads against the AI but not players because it was clearly a bit messed up. Just like the crazy interdictions of the last release. A balance pass is or has happened and it's all cool.

There's so much to be loved about 2.1 and FD should be proud of it. The combat has improved against the NPC ships which is a big win. Id like to see a mix of all the releases AIs so we dont just know the pattern ships fly or fight in.

I bought a big gun and down graded my shields and so forth and find it in many ways easier than before with some more sensible behaviours. Im fighting an opponent not just a drone. That feels better.

So power play got messed up. Well rar rar rar I want i want and so on. And yes many want that sorted but hey ho. I dont like sad songs so Im not going to stay in the chorous.

I've been playing ED almost everyday since day one and there's a lot I dont like but there is a darned lot more that I do.

FD reminds me of Melb****ne house and ... hang on other small time publisher from the 80s. It'd be easy to criticse them, sadly far too easy because of the expectations folk have in general. what I've seen so far I've got to say, 'good job' but and here's the but 'sort your shed out!'.

One of the most splendid things that FD have done is make such a complex game totally playable wit h just a stock keyboard and no mouse.

It was tough with this release but hey

Well said Ben, love how the AI are actively trying to evade your firing arc and get in behind you. I too would like to every now and then see an opponent use the beta1/2 flee, some of the extremely hard ones that just smash you etc. But in general feels much more lively to fight against now.

This game is frakking incredible, every release is a joy to discover all the new features, all the new things to do. It has never been a grind for me and yes. The new ai is wonderful, had to make many changes. Running away has never been more satisfying. :)

2.1 has a huge issue! The Imperial Clipper can't scoop cargo! Open hatch, try and pickup cargo... it vanishes upon entering the hold. Use drones, they deliver... it vanishes upon entering the hold.

The Clipper is useless for scooping cargo and there's not a darn thing I can do about it... and nobody in support has acknowledged my ticket.

Not only that but I've noticed all sorts of odd UI glitches and lockups--sometimes when pressing a menu button, etc. It is the buggiest update I've seen yet.

Sounds like a personal problem, sorry to bust ya bubble, my clipper. A mining and scavenger ship has none of those problems.

I concur. 2.1 has minor issues that will be fixed over time. Its strange how the minor issues can cause such emotion (me included), focussing on the big picture 2.1 was a good release.

Fully agree Ben - if you believed the forums you would think the game is unplayable. I was expecting carnage, but what I found was a very fun update with a few minor bugs - and some genuine moments of adrenaline!

I'm in the 'Good Job FD' camp as well. It was a pretty smooth transition, and they are reacting to the negative issues with aplomb.

Ben I cannot quite agree with you on this. I dont like the RNG stuff. Not having tried it (way out in the dark) but having read how things work, I dont like the notion of hours of finding stuff may result in an actual setback. Ohh I now I can have my backside handed to me by an NPC, but that is a calculated risk. Gathering stuff for hours and doing crafting should leave you something at least marginally better. Remember what we invest in this game is the most precious (my precious:)) thing there is : Time!
Npc's gotten harder : Cool :)
NpC's that "cheat": very uncool :(
Rng + RNG + Rng + RNG: Sloppy , lazy , bad programming that has no place in modern sim!
Grind + grind + grind : well ok, if I must , I must. Basically acceptable as nobody wants an "I Win" button in game.
No storage: Bad dog, Heels !!

Sigh ! Why is it that after every well intended update and expansion, the game seems to have more and more enigmas, and less and less problems get solved:O
I cant stay out here forever , you know [downcast]

Cheers Cmdr's

... I too notice there are a few "what was that" instances, especially with my keyboard and mouse in combat in the main game. Overall though, I am seeing errors being corrected.
At least it is not raining...

Has anyone actually reported being given a worse module? I have upgraded the FSD & Boosters on most of my large ships, all have ended up with better shield and jump performance. I can't see how that is just luck on my part.

amgacooke sits at the controls and sings about gold.

That'll confuse the whipper-snappers ;)

Comrade Napolean, the rng thing is actually fine. If you have a grade 3-5 mod, it will be a decent upgrade, the rng only makes a small difference. More annoying is the rng on trying to get the materials - that is a grind, no other way to describe it.

Have you been drinking Ben?

Yes! I had a bottle of 9 hop kent pale ale, Big Job Massively Hopped IPA, a lovely St Fruillen Grad Cru, a glass of Benromach Organic single malt and a lovely cuppa of tea. Haveing re read what I wrote I'd say exactly the same but would add over the last year there has been a massive disconnect between what players do and the galnet / ED story line (stuff like Patrues being promoted for a great job, yet the power has been sat in teh bottom three for ages. That's just an example, not a dig at PP players). The engineers is an nice addition and so far I've given it a poke but I'm not fussed about getting +1 sword of orc slaying. It's the subtle bits that I like that are easily overlooked, the audio improvements, new missions, graphic tweaks, the stunning engineer bases, tire tracks and a host of other improvements that are so eaisly taken for granted or overshadowed by the PP screw up or the insane AI attacks.

Oh and the delivery of 2.1 was an incredibly fast download (for me at least) and I was straight int o the game in no time.
