Engineers My last complain and i really leave game for now.

As i invested many hours into this game and i did everything is possible to do there before Engineers.
As i invested also lot of time posting topics and replying/commenting other people in Elite related forums.
As i never complained about missing game doccuementation (where and how/why to find/do stuff).
As i always were one of the Beta testers.
And as i have left nothing to do except Engineers now - i am saying I LEAVING THIS GAME because:
1. I will NOT invest any time more into finding materials for engineering because they are so rare so i will become Grandpa before i find them all.
2. I will NOT invest any time more holding my head and praying GOD for "at least positive" Randomly Generated Modification Effect.
3. I will NOT do Canyon race, surface exploration, further system exploration because of significant Planet graphics downgrade (surface textures and even geometry).
But!
I really appreciate any help i got in Elite forums to find out how to play this game.
Thanks everyone!
But I leave this game (at least till next expansion) because Engineers have nothing that can keep me play this time consuming downgraded crazyness.

Sorry to see ya go man! :(

But I can relate... Especially regarding the downgraded planetary textures. That was a real punch in the gut after they looked so nice in 2.0. I never even considered the possibility that they would make them WORSE in the next update! I still don't understand why they did this? If slower machines can;t handle the previous graphics, GIVE THEM the bland, boring, undetailed textures and leave the good ones from 2.0 in there for those of us who run 100% ULTRA and could likely push even more resolution and FPS than that setting!

I also agree with the grinding aspects of Engineers. I too am not bothering, but I am enjoying the new missions enough to keep playing.

Take care! :)

I think its already preaty clear Frontier dosent care, they already got your money. Sad to say but its the true.
I really doubt it will be any another payed expansion in this game, nobody will buy it.

Every age has it's challenges...we can only hope that the child at the cashiers throwing a tantrum because mum won' t buy him sweets, outgrows that behavior without being punched repeatedly in the face. Now we all know that there is no RNG involved in kiddies like that un-learning their behavior. During growing up they will get punched repeatedly in the face many times, by many different people it is a certainty. The only RNG there is who will do the punching and how many consecutive times they punch. Nobody likes the "overindulged", "grandiose", "narcissistic" or "egocentric-regressed".

Look at this guy. He seems to know all the stuff and speaks on behalf of everyone.
Seriously, all these kind of posts only make me not want to read the forums anymore. I'm going back into the game. Way more enjoyable than all this.

I've said that a couple times. These folks are deaf and blind to it. Grind doesn't exist, use your imagination, etc etc etc. It's all really boring arguments that I don't care for anymore.

Frankly it goes both ways.

I don't see why getting these components is so important...

But people do like the self-righteous, preachy, and the condescending? Wow

The textures thing is likely a bug that will be fixed later.

The spawn rates on Engineer items are likely to get tweaked after lots of people whine.

Try Star Trek Online perhaps. It doesn't have any grinding out of repetitive tasks to farm various random items needed to stack magic powers onto your ship.

hahahahahhaahhaah

The 'young uns' these days want everything yesterday.....well im a grandpa OP & Im finding Engineers OK to good.

I don't expect materials for every upgrade to be continually bouncing off my canopy as I travel around. I don't expect to have every upgrade completed within a week of Engineer's launch. What would be the point of launching an expansion that's finished with in days!
Some player's expect Elite to be like other games where it's finished in a week, then you wait for the next expansion/addon, then complete that in 6 days, etc...

This is a sandbox game with, as far as I can see, no ending. Do what you want at your own pace. This is why I don't play other games. This is why I enjoy Elite, not everything is right all the time. Im not a pewpew fanboy, which actually limits what I can do in the game, but generally there seems to be enough for everyone to keep themselves going until the next expansion.

That is unless you want a 500 mph game that you finish in next to no time & everything is handed to you on a plate with big neon pointer signs saying 'go here for x, y & z'

But then, maybe it's me in my autumn years, I finished with all the fast action, finish things quick games in the 80's & 90's. Now I want something like Elite that i can play without my heart beat racing at 200bpm all the time.

Well, ok... Farewell!

Nobody will complain if they will be able to make ships unique in notime ...

Sorry, I would!

I see 'The Engineers' as long-term goal in ED. As something to get me invested even after I gained all Pilot Federation ranks, there are billions of credits on my account and I have every ship I want to fly in my fleet. An incentive to play, after all other achievements were reached.

To the OP +rep.

On points 1 and 2 I totally agree, point 3 I cant comment on as I don't go down to planets that often - I find it a boring mechanic so far.

My time is way to expensive to waste it on a grinding mechanic and RNG, and I say this as someone who is retired and has nothing but the time I have left.

The engineers has gone from something interesting to something I can't be bothered with so I have taken my stock ASP and gone exploring again and will wait and see what Frontiers response is.

I have no problems walking away from games that don't go in a direction that I find suitable as they are my major form of entertainment, if they don't entertain I go find something else.

Maybe if you just play the game, you will get your items one way or another... But if you grind for them then it will feel like a grind.

Anyway are those upgrades necessary to play? Unless you are doing full PVP, why is it so important?

Some components you cant't get that easy and you know there are no limitless inventory. You always get crap and only 10tx 20th 50th element is what you need.
You will have to sort it out anyway and should know what is what and for what.

Sorry, I would!

I am myself one of those people who ranked up faction ranks, main ranks, completed missions, tuned sips and all other "forever long" story.
I got Corvette and Cutter but it took me more than a year you know. All that was pretty grindy and borring because of lack of actual content.
There are that mission board, same stations, same planet types, and all other repetitive things and i thought Engineers will bring variety into this.
Variety by making my ships unique. Variety by encountering modified NPC's. Variety by going into Wing with other modified player ships.
But what i see is only variety of grinding itself. Yes, i want to play this game without rush but if i want to see my ship "cool" i have to.
I spent week playing all day long (about 10 hours in day) and i got just fiew 1st grade upgrades and they are just half usefull.
I lost many time just hoping RNG will generate better results but they failed 99% time.
I am already borred. Why i should grind the same thing one or more than one year more. Nobody deserves it.
No! i will wait for something too change.

Fast paced progress would ruin elite in my eyes and make everything feel meaningless and cheap.

^This.

Remember the early days when a viper had a meaning and the sidewinder felt like a real ship?

Oh, I can assure you that the Sidewinder still feels like a real ship, and a damned fast one too with Felicity's enhanced thrusters :)

I like to keep things simple so I only own two ships in the game - my primary is a Python with engines/thrusters and FSD modified to grade 3 (no rush for grade 5, it may come eventually), and my secondary is a Sidewinder with the enhanced thrusters but no modifications. It's great to hop into the Sidewinder from time to time, and interdict naughty Eagles in Federation space.

:)
