The New Combat Model is Nonsense... I'm Quite Unhappy.

You come off as an insensitive lout. He is not the only one with these complaints. There is certainly a kernel of truth in these stories that shouldn't be brushed off with insults.

I have had no loses since the expansion, so don't tell me to get good. I think any game should be enjoyable for all of it's players. FD can do this, and I am sure they will.

How much fun will it be for many players if their only recourse is to run? How long will they stay interested if they are constantly reminded they aren't combat pilots?

The kernel of truth is that they died. You can save the name calling for your own toxicity venting.

I didn't tell you to get good, so to go     for tat with your own behaviour, you come off as illiterate. This game is no less enjoyable than it was before. The combat requires more skill, that's pretty much ALL that has changed. If a game being 'harder' in ONE aspect is enough to 'make the game less enjoyable', then I daresay whomever agrees has a silver spoon in their mouth and a diaper around their bottom. The lower-ranking enemies - competent, mostly harmless, etc, have barely changed at all. And you can always get police to help you out at those resource sites.

Oh I don't know. You see, if I followed that logic of 'how am I gonna get good if I just run' I'd be dead many more times than I am now. I analyzed what I did wrong. I looked up guides on how to fly better. I looked at experienced players' builds.
I learned.

Yup. All you've got is 'get good'. Right on Commander. o7

10 seconds eh?
You flying with no shields or the poorest shields you can find?

If not, I call shenanigans.

Cobras have bad shields. It's true.
I lost one to a Viper MK IV recently, after a fun fight. Had him at 2% hull, no shields, and I had full shields &.hull. He got behind me, and killed me in 5 seconds. Plasma accelerators (shields collapsed instantly) & missiles up the thrusters.
Maybe the PA were bugged, IDK.

I sold off the guns. They just slow me down and get me killed fighting. Haven't lost shields since then.

A lot of you are just being jerks to the original poster. My experience has been similar to his. I was interdicted multiple times and within a single pass from a FDL my shields were down and my hull was taking a beating each time. I had the best shields I could get for my Python but no booster as I hadn't quite scraped up the 51M CR for the top-end power plant. I barely survived a couple of those encounters.

After finally getting the new power plant and adding a pair of class A shield boosters, and reworking my load out, I can now survive the encounters a bit longer. But when my shields come down I'm lucky to escape with 40% of my hull intact--again because I haven't scraped together the 51M CR to buy the better hull.

Say what you will, the NPCs just got far deadlier. It's both stupid and offensive to offer the original poster nothing better than "YOU CAN'T PROVE IT!!!" or "GIT GUD!!!" in response.

Spare us your arrogant , fanboi. Act like an adult or kindly . His post was infinitely more mature than your reply to it.

"Fan boy"? His post may have been concealed in etiquette but nothing is more immature than to dismiss an argument with your own strawman.

I gave a reasonable answer: Any independent adult can put a bare minimum of time into something to learn a few new tricks that can improve them. You don't start a game as a pro, so I don't know why they seem to have trouble realizing there's some new elements they have to learn.

NO, YOU'RE SAYING GET GOOD, YOU'RE MEAN.

Please. I'm saying "We all had to learn some things. Everyone is giving you advice. You can learn and you'll get straight back into the game with more enjoyment and knowledge than you had before.

NPCs employ smarter tactics. It's only far deadlier if you're not prepared to adapt.
We're not saying just 'get good'. We're saying 'this isn't an issue that needs a nerf, you need to put more into your combat strategy.'
Yeah it's harsh. But it's true. We're not being jerks. We're trying to help.
And helping isn't putting on training wheels.

I dunno. The NPCs seem to fly Asp Explorers well enough. I met one that was matching my Imperial Courier with Enhanced Thrusters turn for turn.

Asp Explorers are still good, just put military grade hull and hull reinforcements on if you're going for combat though.

Then all you've got is "Wah wah, difficulty scares me!" Please, spare me your petty immaturity.

Compassion is not a weakness. I am perfectly fine with the state of the AI but, I realize it's not all about me. People don't want to admit they aren't up to a challenge. People don't want to face the barrage of 'it's your fault'. They come and complain to get relief. I have been converted. At first I even posted that I thought the complaints were akin to mass Hysteria over the news coming out of Beta.

But the complaints continue, and with strikingly similar observations. I take people at their word, and have an open mind. I won't be bullied by a faceless forum poster.
