Engineers ED, the most frustrating game ever.

Ok, in order to upgrade the modules for your ship for some stupid and unknow reason you need to take this ship into the eng, because you cant swap items from ship to ship anymore.
I got my vulture, garter the materials doing this stupid grind for several days, and then get it into the eng.
In the middle of the trip for some unknown reason my cargo hatch starts to malfunction and I lost all my items, how fun its it ?
I sorry, but this games really sucks, I dont even know why I am insisting on it yet.

It's a feature; part of the grind. Don't worry, just repeat as most of us do :)

Cargo hatches dont suddenly start malfunctioning unless you need repairs, in which case its your own fault for not seeing to them sooner.

Yes. The same thing happened to me yesterday with Articulation Motors.
I had a week with the cargo on the fer de lance until yesterday a NPC broke me cargohatch. Im lose 4 articulation motors 3hs of game.
The mechanical engineering sucks, this unplayable.
I do not play anymore until it fixed.
If they do not I will uninstall and I will not buy anything from this company, everything is placebo.[down][down]

jep i also take a break until they revamp that stuip lottery in and outlogging <don't> . i mean even if you have no job the time spending is high . and when you only have 1 or 2 hours a day .... no way . And the main problem is that its not even close to fun every thing from uss to station missions is just a lottery. WHo the hell by FD came up with that idea .<don't>

Well, I looked at my cargo hatch status, it was 82%, should not open...
It opened 2 times, once when I get close to an sun for fuel scooping, the second when I drooped in the planet at glind.
It should not be required to get materials into cargo hold, its stupid, if you have an ship that has no cargo hold, you cant upgrade all modules of this ship because you will need cargo hold.

<don't> a bit harsh, but perhaps have a little less say in the coming decisions...

This is the core element, i think David Braben forced this wrong design onto others. I do not believe regular game designers would come up with system this bad on their own.

To be safe keep it above ~90%, or it can malfunction when taking additional damage.
Try to avoid overheating, emergency drops etc.
If it malfunctions outside of supercruise just scoop cargo back.
But overall yes, i agree that having to carry all this stuff around all the time is very annoying...

Have you never played Scott Adams text adventures?

Currently if your ship is destroyed materials and data still remain with new ship. Not shure if this a 'bug' but doesnt logically make sense. Any material will reuiresome space but doesnt appear in gargo inventory not tried collecting with cargoi holds.

If you can build a better game you are welcome to go off and try let me now so I can try out your perfect game. There is a lot of history behind this game. Have you played the original ?

Its clearly stated that Elite is DANGEROUS. And people wanted ironman mode lol. In the original design it was going to be possible to buy second hand ships at a lower cost but with increased chance of failure. Like iin real life.

Materials are stored in your personal storage not your cargo hold. Have you got your keybinds mixed up? The [END] key ejects all cargo, so if you have assigned this to a function in another program you might be ejecting your load accidentally (it happens to all men eventually).

OR, instead of axing a game mechanic that took half a year to develop and that takes baby steps to add some variety to the game, we should take a step back and ponder what we could use to help enhance this feature to make it less frustrating. Something involving long term storage that's not on your ship, perhaps?

There are townsends of suggestions on how to fix the game, really.
But Frontier dosent seems to care much about the players, they follow some odd design decisions that seems to come from people that never played any game, and they think they are right and everybody here wrong. I am tired to try to suggest any solution, if they took 10% of the solutions proposed here in the forum it could transform this game into the best game today.

Same here. Lottery killed all joy.

They do if you have UA's in them...

There's no reason why you can't use another ship with a long jump range (to reduce the damage that UA's can do to your cargo bay) to collect the materials you need just make sure that what you have in the hold of your collecting ships is the same or less than the cargo capacity of the ship you are trying to upgrade.

Just park your Vulture at a station (with a shipyard) near the engineers base, swap into (or buy) the other ship, collect your items, return (quickly) & jump back into your old ship. The cargo transfers, & you can then go & get that ship upgraded.

As for this, this is a genuine mechanic in the game that you can counter very easily with just a Point Defence Turret or two...

Point Defence Turrets kill hatch breaker limpets with ease.

Can i ask you - why are you even doing this grind for some stupid and unkown reason?

1 thing I will give to the op.. we do need storage, it is daft having to carry around rare cargo for weeks on end "just incase"

the good news i think it is coming this season so fingers crossed on that.

There are heaps of things I would change on ED, things which I personally think are unintuitive, inconsistent and generally currently incomplete and shallow.

But despite all that, when I come to game I look at my 250 PC game collection (similar number on other platforms) most of them not played, and yet I STILL find myself donning my oculus rift and going to ED.

For everything FD have gotten wrong or have not finished (in my opinion) ED is still the best over all gaming experience I have had in years, probably ever.

If you are not enjoying it, it is time to leave for a few months and play something else. perhaps down the road a fresh perspective will bring back the fun for you.

if not, well, I know you pain. I bought the hardened edition of COD MW2 for silly money and barely touched it. We live and learn.

Agree. Here what's happen when a craft system is based on RNG and GRIND, and when basics systems like market and inventory are not developed first. Sometime, am really fear about the FRONTIER amateurism and the future seasons !

Agree. They need to take a change(and improve quality) in his gameplay direction.
