Engineers "bring 50 Cigars" ... sure... *grind*

Just don't focus on one task, always have different things to do. Be an opportunist, be curious.

Sounds realy good. And in my opinion I would do this when the game mechanics let me do this. Which it doesn't. For a better understanding. I am sitting in that cutter since release 2.1 and begin to play. Surely I wan't to try this engineer thing out and begin to search the stuff and things and to find what they need. No problem , no worries. But today I am nailed to that ship, and that because of the game mechanics. There is no place I can storage my stuff I need some time later in the game. Surely I don't like to drop these things because I had to search them again later on.

This rare commodity thing is another problem. I asked myself the question, why did I bought a large ship when I only can get a small amount of cargo to transfer? (for me it counts for the mission mechanics too). But this is a thing only FD can change.

I've just started working on the cigars, and for the first 8 spawns, I only got 1 each time, then for the next 2, I got 2 each time.

Is this an average of what to expect, or does my luck just suck? (I never did much of the rares thing, so not sure how many to expect at once)

Ready for my first trip now, just hoping the next four trips won't take so long...

Wait until you see the one about the lavian brandy.... :D

Genius..have some rep.

For all those saying what's the problem with the time it takes...It's not the length of time, that's fine,it's the repetitive unimaginative tedium of it doing the same thing over and over and over and over and over.

Maybe if I take enough prozac I can do these repetitive mindless actions and think I'm having fun. ;)

It seem's to be that you had some bad luck. Seem's to be that the restock of this commodity is totaly random. For me I had 10 T to 15 T per restock. The last tour was a pain in my back... I had to fly 320 LY for 1 T of cigars because the commodity wouldn't restock because I had 12 T in my cargo rack.

This thread made me google Monica Lewinsky.

Apparently she's doing well. Even had a TED talk.

Now you know.

This... cast a smile on my face this morning! :D Thanks

I would rather bloody drink it myself and stuff that backyard mechanic ;)
Same goes for the cigars, have 'em with the Brandy and just get soaked and forget about "Engineers Release"

Cheers Cmdr's

That was brilliant, and got you a +1 rep :)

I achieved gathering 50 cigars within 1hr. And I still have excess 14-26 cigars. If you want, I can give them all to you for free. PM me online.

That is a very kind offer to make - Enjoy your +1 rep for being so kind

I have grown to old to fall for this meaningless crap. Its not gaming, it is just an easy way to keep players progress back, because you incapable of delivering meaningful content. Period.

So true!

Yep. And that´s exactly what I am not going to do. This is a timesink, nothing more - senseless. Nonsense. Bad design.

Again - so true!

Ya know what REALLY bugs me about Engineers wanting rare goods like drinks and cigars?

Each ship cargo unit is a TON.. That's a single TON'S worth of Cigars, Brandy, Whatever..

..and they want pilots all over to bring them 50 TONS worth of such?

No, no and no!

A good design would have been a diversification of things. Thats my actual main concern with this *grind*.

Example: Instead of bringing 200 tons of brandy it would be way cooler to bring brandy, cigars and female slaves/drugs and liquor for a good party. This would also have been 4,5 or even 6 runs, but with a variety of things. Thats what I think would have been better.

I forgot that part. I was thinking BOTTLES because it would be improbable to the point of impossible that a single person would order a private stash of 200 tonnes.

200 metric tonnes of fluid is 200 000 bottles of 1 liter each.

What's he using it for? Rocket Fuel???

1 tonne of brandy is 1000 bottles
1 tonne of slaves is about 10 slaves (life support weight and all that)
1 tonne of drugs is a crap tonne of drugs.

How big a party would require MORE than a tonne each?

Guys... really? Hera Tani wants 50 rare goods, 160 LY away, spawning 12-13 of them?

Nothing against "working", but this is just player torture. Looks like taking a break is the only option until its fine tuned.
I want to ask. What are you expecting? land at their base, say "Hi gimme your best weapon/engine/generator mod" *gets it* "bye!" ?

Nope. I am expecting : I need 50 tons of goods from that list : A,B,C and/or D, in any combinations. They can be found near X,Y,Z.
Buy them, steal them or find a hidden stash of them in a ring/on a planet, I don't care how you do it, but this is what I want.

What does a mechanic want with thousands of tonnes of rare brandy?

To me it seems obvious that FDev are just using low level 'fillers' instead of taking more time to design and develop better gameplay.

Need to drink a lot to be able to turn the wheel of fortune.
