Quit it with those Negative waves!

Just remember: Mindless complaining without reasoning never does me much any good when trying to get information to relay to the team. Well thought out posts, and posts that have a good footing and reasoning do catch my attention - those I tend to relay onward. :)

The question is: is positive feedback (with reasons to back it up) passed through, too?

Because (here comes the reason) - despite the fact that so many complaints on this topic flood the forum - I actually like the RNG character of the engineers!
And the reason is that with it (and only with it!) I have the feeling of a long lasting initiative to play and worthwhile goals for ED's "late- and endgame". (Please forgive me the use of these terms; I know that something like this doesn't really exist in this game. However, I am referring to the time, when all ships you want are owned, most ranks reached and credits ubiquitous.)

Start out with low grade alterations (which are most likely beneficial - and if not, cheap to try again). And later on (for the month to come, not just the next days!), you can try to enhance what you've got. Different (pseudo) stat variations will make it interesting to evaluate, whether or not the new roll is really better than what you have already or not. I like non-trivial decisions!

Really, I LIKE the random part of engineers and I would be very sad, if this would be changed due to the forum uprise! Please, Brett, pass this through as well!

My only proposal would be to decouple experimental effects completely from the procedurally generated variants. They are strong enough in their own! Make 'light mounts' exactly is: light variations of the standard weapons. No need for extra "super powers".

Blueprints for special effects, on the other hand, could be given as reward for dangerous (chain) mission or - just as now - by trading-in all the engineer reputation (+ some hard to get materials, of course!).

With this, you would have both: enhanced, procedurally generated variants of existing weapons and "standard" weapons with special effects that will enable the player to take exacly the battle-role he wants to.

But I thought being really angry and making out everyone was leaving was derigeur?

Yes you're doing it wrong, now get down on that floor and start to freak out, I got a home video of my son when he was 5 doing it perfectly. ;)

Thats too high of a bar. Most of the people spouting negativity aren't capable of recognizing a coherent argument, let alone forming one.

Oh, I believe they generally are able (being humans and all that) of a coherent argument. The problem is that most of them don't have clear enough idea what are they complaining and arguing about.

ok, you got me, i'm biting. Now what mats do i need, and how best to find them for these negative waves, i have loads of other mods, i am having fun collecting them, and i want all the best upgrades, so fill me in on this new one, and what effect does it have, ( i bet it puts the enemy pilot in like a fear mode, so he can't fly good) i haven't heard of it before though.

If you want a "Negative wave" special effect, all you have to do is collect a couple of bugs, apparently.

The game is doing fine , the gameplay is good , it needs more of it but more is coming.
However the one thing I do fear about the future is lore... we have yet to have proper lore in game and its starting to scare me

This is already planned for the next update. And the change is based on... wait for it...
constructive criticism!
and it gets even better...
constructive criticism made by fanboys and white knights!

OP - Repped for the Kelly's Heroes reference. Oh Moriarty...

Agreed. Less whining + more reason + level discussion = better forums.

Behold the online generation who grew up never knowing what it was like to be without the Internet. With their need for instant gratification, celebrity gossip instead of news and an inability to fathom patience, the world is going to hell in a hand-basket.

I'm waiting for "Git-r-done" to be the title of a doctoral dissertation. That will mark the beginning of the end. Well, that or Trump/Clinton as president. Either way.
