Engineers No more grinding FDev please read

Of course I do. I wasn't talking about missions, I was talking about material collection. You seem to have a reading comprehension problem.

Wait, what? You clearly have a reading comprehension problem. Nowhere did I say that these other players' time and effort is a waste. In fact, quite the opposite, I rely on them to provide the information because I could not possibly collect all of it myself, and FDEV haven't made it convenient at all for a player to try and collect that information in game.

I value my time because I have limited amounts of it and many other games that share Elite's allotment. Therefore, I'd rather not be forced by the game to do something I hate, say base assaults, repeatedly...over and over and over so as I can get a specific drop to happen (due to the very nature of RNG which makes it almost certain that some supposedly "very common" materials may actually be very rare for the individual player that has bad RNG rolls). This instead of a system that allows you to work towards a specific material/commodity through, for example, a missioning NPC that gives you a specific chain of missions to do in order to get what you need.

ecuse my reading comprehension problems, please. so you don't want to do all that, but you still want to have everything in the game?

You know this will allow the "gold sellers" into the game, right?
That concern is right up there with living in fear of humanity being wiped out by an asteroid. Sure, it could happen any time, but it's not likely to happen at all.

I don't want to do TWO things, not ALL that. Is it so much asking for alternative ways to get certain materials so that you as a player aren't forced into an activity you loathe?

I personally just want to see the over reliance on RNG as a game mechanic to disappear.

Have a rep! same here no RNG to modifications / special effect. Define the parameters in what materials are needed and that's it. The loot tables and loot drop rate/chance needs to be reconsidered for a more balanced approach. As mentioned by the tip for firmware, I have dropped into so many signal sources (degraded /encoded / convoy / mass orgy signals) and no firmware. So i now i read I needs to go to bases..trying to figure that out as i never did surface missions before.

FD have not only hyped Engineers but literally forced us to actually need it to survive once all NPC get MODs and combat players also. We deserve the right to ALL CONTENT by credits and not by grind. We blaze our own trails and without MODs you make that playstyle stationary even to Lifetime Passes. CHANGE IT PLEASE.

Hallelujah

Have rep cmdr may FD hear you. The only thing engineer should be interested in is credits thats it. Just like in real life money makes the world turn.

There should be a market for materials. Makes so much sense from both a gameplay and roleplay perspective.
These materials go into ship construction in the first place. That means they're being produced and sold.
I want to be able to buy them.

I've never bothered to infiltrate a settlement before 2.1.
I've never bothered to look for USS before 2.1.
I've never bothered to gather resources from various planets before 2.1.
I've never bothered to scoop something instead of mining fragments before 2.1.

Thanks, FD! You really bring life into ED for me since PP update.

But, there is always "but".
I've spent almost two days to find this damn Specialized Legacy Firmware for 2nd grade Thrusters upgrade!
Some "Very common" data/materials are really VERY RARE - it was said in other threads.
Some 1st grade data/materials needs more efforts than 2nd and 3rd grade! Why?
You need to balance this further more.

It is still an amazing game, but feels like it is being driven by those who have seemingly endless time to spend on it.
You need to be so good to survive combat in a less capable ship and pick up so much junk before you find the things you need...

FD please give us mere mortals something to enjoy as we dip in and out of the Dangerous galaxy.

Do I get the impression you don't like playing Elite? If so, I suggest you stop.

Not sure that is the best advice I have seen on this forum! Looking at the forums about 75% would stop playing and not buy the next upgrade! Our game would then slowly die!

Do I get the impression you don't like reading posts from people who don't share your views on the game? If so, I suggest you stop.

I partially agree with the OP.

The grind is pure nonsense, but we shouldn't just be able to buy what we need. FD simply need to put some effort into creating some engaging gameplay around searching for and obtaining materials/resources.

Maybe you could make a thread in the suggestions sub-forum with an outline of what sort of gameplay mechanics you think could be added to do away with the grind.

Don't take this as a critism of your post though. I'm not keen on the grind either, but maybe FD could benifit from some external inspiration.

The grind is to let people participate in various activities in-game.

You don't need to push players to go grind and force them to do activities, that's not what gaming is about, if they are fun, enjoyable and interesting then there's an incentive to go and do these activities. Most of my friends stopped playing because the grind is just over the top and ridiculous (simply not fun), 2-4 hours to find materials only to get a random effect and that's a big "if" you are lucky enough to get a decent roll.

I think frontier doesn't understand how players value their time vs reward, at least from my understanding they fail really hard on this level which is probably why so many players complain it takes too much time to grind because the incentive and the reward is simply not great or good enough.

I wouldn't call steam the most accurate place for reviews but the majority of player base come from steam average 3-5k unique players on a daily basis and the game score is below average since patch 2.1, that's just not really good.

what sadness me is that much effort to be vocal on the forum about how bad it is showing stats from everywhere, but just a few -counted with the fingers of both hands- suggestion posts or bug reports.
At the end people whinging so much will just leave the game, sooner or later, there will be always something they don't like. I just hope they don't get to mess up the game before leaving.
