Good Missions

So where is everyone getting good missions these days? I've noticed that Daedulus (in Sol) has been having some pretty good payouts. As far as short range, legal, non-combat missions go, it's been fairly good. I got 3 on the weekend that paid over 2 million credits. Just for delivering 100 tons of something 14 ly away. I did them all in 15 minutes. Which was the fastest and easiest I've made 6 million credits in this game so far. Every time I got back there's several missions over 750K which require under 100 tons.

What about you guys?

The mission payouts are driven by your standing with the minor factions in the system. Take missions where you are allied and you'll get good payouts. Here's an example, I am allied with a minor faction. My buddy has just made it out to the system and is friendly I believe. We both took the same mission to go to another system, land near a planet base and kill 8 skimmers. I was offered 700K for completion, he was offered 140K for completion.

Not as lucrative as yours, but I had four missions to deliver goods to system 40LY away.
I think the reward was around 6MCr.

On the other hand, look for 'surface retrieval' missions, the reward for them can be also really good.
I've seen two of them just recently, from one faction, in a nearby system (5LY), retrieve 8 black boxes, each mission worth 1.6MCr.

About time the missions got some love from FD.

I like the fact, that missions these days are depending on your reputation with faction, state the faction is in at time. Everything matters now.
Best approach is to stick to your 'home' system and work on reputation with at least two of the biggest factions in game.

If ranking-up within a superpower is your goal and you don't particularly care about specific factions an a system, then I'd suggest finding a system where there are lots of superpower-aligned factions; become Allied with all of them and multiple, high-payout missions become probable. Sol is a good system for the Feds, Cemiess a good one for the Imps (Achenar would be good too but the supercruise times there are a lot longer) and Alioth is a good one for the Alliance. There are many other such systems to find and choose from.

Yeah, my currently favorite minor faction is paying me 300-600k per skimmer mission. I've been running almost solely for them, so it's considerably more than what others are offering. Neutrals start in the 60k range.

The invite for Lyz Ryder engineer required Cordial status with the Euriba Blue Mafia. I worked on that and then figured I'd stick around working for them while collecting what I need for tier 5 missile upgrades. I'm Friendly with them now and getting multiple 1-2 million surface base assault/data collection jobs to neighbor systems. It's been paying rather well.

I think it's a little buggy though, I had 3 missions to hack the same generator at the same base all show up at once, totaling 3.1 million. I just had to fly down, drive in, hack the terminal and drive away quickly and all three were done at once. Seemed a little exploity, but I took it anyway, being a scoundrel and all.

being allied with a faction in boom at the edge of the bubble - longrange trading missions for 1-6 mio cr.

being allied with pirate factions in systems in war/civil war: smuggling missions for 2-3 mio.

i actually draw the conclusion i need to get allied with the pirates at my usual operational bases.

Payouts are nice an all, but I do have a problem with immersion when I am payed many many multiple times the worth of the cargo to take something maybe 3-4 jumps in Asp E and the station I deliver them to has multiple sources selling said product within 1 jump range.

Its just totally gamey, hey we need to pay you so much to make the economy/grind work in relation to ship values, and totally short on emergent game play reasons for why anyone is willing to pay me so much just to hump rocks 100LY.

I am now getting black recovery missions at 3M each. Not bad for a few minutes work, even having to evade some bad guys :)

I've been finding salvage missions for my allied factions have been the most lucrative. Made 20+mil in an evening just stacking missions to fetch antiques at 1-3mil a time. They must really like their antiques.

I need to go back to sol as before 2.0 i made much fed rank and money taking salvage misiions from the three stations at earth.

I'll give you that -- I get things like salvage and combat missions. But transport 20 dishwashers and we'll give you a million spacebucks? Somehow that just don't seem right.

Try taking the back off one of the 'dishwashers' and seeing whats actually inside one day, just make sure they can't tell you've been tampering with them ;)

lol :)

Well, if that's the case, then there should be security risks that go with haulage missions. You know, stolen goods, illicit cargo, all that stuff?

Actual trading could be all on the level, but the payout on transport missions would make more sense if the activity were inherently unethical.

Glad to see mission payouts reflect the work you've put into the game. But the missions need some more love. A famine faction I was helping out offered me half a million to ship fish out of the system! These people are a week away from eating their own flesh and they want me to ship food out of their territory?

got paid 2.3M for 70 tons of biowaste. Allied and boom states, gotta love em.

Yep.

The days of being offered 643 credits to move some beer as an Elite Trader are gone. Love it.

Keep those factions sweet, to get that credit balance neat. [yesnod]

Indeed. I've made 50 mil in the past few days, as well as buying another Cobra and a Vulture. :) Running from the constant Elite interdictions is a bit of a pain though. :D
