Just found a wrecked Nav Beacon near the Federal Battlecruiser and Barnacle on Merope 2A: 13.3835, -161.6741

Like really close.

Dunno if this is weird or not, I have been away for a few months.

@fugly_turtle I'd assume that unknown faction would most likely be a place holder for the winner of Dangerous games to create a power to replace Archon Delaine

I went through that path a couple days after 2.1 launched. Was heading to Barnard's Loop to have a look around. Gave a few of my waypoints to one of the guys on CNE because everyone kept saying it was completely locked and there was no way in. While I was in there, I did notice quite a few named systems but I chalked it up to them being named from actual Orion stars. Glad you found some inconsistencies! Now it makes me want to go back through there again more thoroughly and see if I missed something. I didn't have any EDSM points to compare it to at the time. Ended up going past the loop and out to Crab. I really hope you guys find more out there than I did. Spent a few hours a night for a week looking around. There are definitely some good barnacle planet contenders there.
I'm out in the Running Man Nebula (since I think this might also be a good place to look for Barnacles) and I've been noticing a few newly-named systems. I've been through here before (early in 2.0) and definitely did not notice all the Astronomer-themed system names then. In fact, it almost feels like they are being changed around me as one moment I think I've been to almost all of them and then notice a couple more... I've logged out and taken a couple of screenshots of my nav panel so if things are being changed I'll notice. (Or space madness has finally set in).
.
Here are my notes on what I've found so far: do these names tally with those you have seen yourselves or have more been added?
The Veil (2 stars, no planets)
Banks Reach (icy landables only + other ice and rocky/icy worlds); 2 degraded ss, threat 0
Celsius (gas giants and icy moons)
Collins (one HMC with atmosphere, others icy, some icy landable)
Gauss (icy worlds only, one icy moon is landable)
Amo (busy system (66 bodies + star), 1 HMC cft, several hmc landables inc. one maybe Barnacle temperature, ringed gas giants with moons)
Woodrow (several HMC landables, two gas giants with icy moons)
Bessel (icy worlds only with 1 icy landable moon)
Banneker (icy worlds only with 1 icy landable moon)
Aristarchus (2 stars, no planets)
Khayyam (gas giants with icy landables, distant secondary has landable HMCs); 1 USS
Legacy (icy worlds only, inc. several landable and 1 icy landable moon)
Tombaugh (icy and rocky/icy worlds only with 1 icy landable moon)
Conrad (non landable HMCs and icy worlds, gas giants with icy moons)
Le Verrier (icy and rocky/icy worlds only with icy landable moons)
Huygens (HMCs and icy worlds, inc. icy landables and 1 icy landable moon)
Galileo (many gas giants (inc. 2 helium-rich) with icy landable moons, also icy worlds and 1 HMC)
Brahe (HMC, icy and rocky/icy worlds with 1 icy landable)
Hawking's Reach (3 stars, no planets)
Ptolemy (icy worlds only inc. several landables and some landable icy moons)
Yeliseyev (3 stars, no planets)
Belyayev (gas giants and dwarf star with rocky and icy landables, 1 icy world)
Leonov (one HMC landable, gas giants with icy landable moons)
Gordon Cooper (icy worlds and gas giants with moons, some icy landable moons)
Frey (icy worlds only, no landables)
Popovich (HMCs both landable and otherwise, 2 HMC cft with atmosphere, inner 3 landable HMCs Barnacle temperature, gas giants with landable moons, secondary star has icy worlds but only one is landable)
Feoktistov
Halley (icy worlds and one gas giant only, no moons or landables)
Cassini
Wilson
Lagrange
Eratosthenes
Laplace
It feels like a miniature bubble out here but some of these systems make no sense for colonies as they don't even have planets! Are things going to be added or changed, perhaps? (I've taken screenshots of most of these systems so I might spot them if it happens).
EDIT: The renamed systems have been largely tagged, with only the occasional distant icy world or moon left untagged.

Not sure if anyone has noticed this. but you know that galaxy the thargoids came from? Well where the barnacle is... you get a clear view of it.

If you are implying that it is Andromeda, well maybe, any view you get of Andromeda you can also see Triangulum ( that other small spiral galaxy you can see). So it could be both or it could be neither.

I made the same observation last week for two barnacles in california nebulae

guys, what's going on in Merope ?

galnet reports some stirred situations.

As you know, the Feds have put a Capital Ship on top of one barnacle in Merope 2A.

This is probably because FD want to test how this works. There has been lots of game crashing and bug reports. If FD manages to fix this, it will hopefully lead to Capital size hotel ships at the new tourist locations.

If we are lucky, they may even throw in a little in-game explanation, to justify the actions of the Fed navy. :)

I'd say that the hyperspace we use is more like a tunnel through witchspace, we don't actually fully enter witchspace but we do take advantage of it in order for ftl travel. If I am not mistaken, Thargoids are able to travel through witchspace in a similar fashion to the way we can travel using supercruise, they can can change course and stop wherever they please.

Go back a few pages - MB said they're the same, it's just a different method of entry and exit because of the masses involved.

Some of the 'lore' surrounding the differences between small and large ship hyper/witch space aren't correct it seems.

It therefore means, for example, that whatever happened to Jacques could happen to us...

We don't do game file poking. Will report anyone else who does it, spoiler tags {that don't work on mobile) or not

Yup, and to be fair - even if we don't report, there are enough mods + the exec producer himself, looking at this thread, who will ensure action is taken.

Haxxorz please take your business elsewhere.

Well... you dont hack anything to get to those files... just saying. All that is litterlly in the folders. If they did not want anyone to actually do stuff like that then they should encrypt it.

Uh... opening Windows Explorer and browsing the game folder isn't "haxx", it's a basic function of Windows. If the devs didn't want us to see them, they would be encrypted and actually require cracking to find...
