Forgot to ask - I know someone reported that the "logo" is the same in the CN as in Pleiades, but is it the same for the WN?
Affirmative, same logo. Here's a screenshot of one of the Barnacles I found in the Witch Head Nebula Sector GW-W C1-4.

Is there no central database of the canonn ?! Somewhere where all we know about UAs, Barnacles and more is available catalogued ?!
The jumps weren't instant in original Elite. The clock would wind on by at least a few hours when you arrived at your destination.
I remember starting off towards the eagle nebula after Halsey made some comments... ( I got distracted by space squirrels and didn't make it there tho)
"The former leader purports to have seen "the true architects of creation" and to have been shown what she describes as "the infinities of the cosmos" – assertions that, along with her slowed speech, have seen her condemned as mentally unstable by some commentators." - from galnet
Made me think of the "pillars of creation"
Good evening,
while I was searching for barnacles I was scanning potentially good planets and relativley happy with results. "Better this kind of rocky planets than ice planets because theres nothing to be found there right?" I thought and was moving on.....
Just that Frontier has recently added ice mining and a whole lot of new ice resources which could also be kind of interesting for a barnacle alien thing to extract. Are there any theories that ice planets cannot have barnacles? Because right now we are so focused on a specific type of barnacle planet that no one is looking on ice planets. Maybe I need to extend my search on these types of planets.
one thing that this post definitely made me think was that, with ice mining being a new thing in the same release as unknown probes, perhaps there might be logic in looking for them there.
I mean... they've got to be *somewhere*
Personally think you'll be wasting your time but by all means have a go. I can't speak for the ice additions from FD but the Barnacles show up as 'organic' structures so if we take that to mean organic in the biological sense they want nice temperatures. AFAIK everything found so far has been at around 293K give or take (i.e standard temperature (but not pressure, obvs). So I've been looking for heavy metal planets (however that's phrased) of the right temperature and then been looking for discolouration of areas and then canyons in said areas. So far for me it's worked once and in my little sojourn I have maybe been down to 30-50 of such planets now (i.e. from when I left Pleaides on my way to California, my discovery and now since) and however many hundreds of systems inbetween. So I've found plenty of candidates but nothing, however most of my searching post California hasn't been in a nebula.Good evening,

Exactly. And I'm doing the same in the Jellyfish.
....
Which brings me onto a bugbear. I'm heading back to known space now so I can get an FD upgrade (I'm at 20yl jumprange in my python; it's getting tedious). I fit the criteria for an engineer but I need meta-alloy. If barnacles aren't handing it out anymore can I buy it at Merope? Somewhat anxious about coming back only to be killed by the worlds worst NPC...
Hey guys, I've been around on these forums for a while now, I love to lurk you see try to figure out what people are thinking see if any theorys are worth checking. And there are a lot of good ones! you scientists really can science haha! So I thought I would throw an observation into the mix more than a theory.
I was watching Brian Cox's series "Wonders of the Solar System" last night and something he said really resonated in my head and I just had to mention it here to get your opinion. It turns out canyons, (like the ones barnacles live in) are usually left by very old river systems. Or at least that in the case of planets like Mars or Titan, I just thought what is it rivers leave behind?
Even after many, many hundreds of years rivers must leave something the barnacles need. I keep feeling that connection especially with them being called barnacles, there must be a connection with water, or ice or even Sulpher dioxide based life-forms (which scientists believe could be living under Mars right now due to heat maps etc.) I have more on this theory but I don't want to drone on haha it just got me thinking...
Sorry I haven't been keeping up with the Barnacle story enough. I've read a little bit on the website, but can someone clarify.
Is the fact that some barnacle sites are now being guarded by skimmers something new in the last week or two, and we don't know the source of these skimmers or who they belong to at this point?

Amazing, thanks. By data you mean small/large data caches?Maia, just around the corner. Darnielles Outpost, planetary. But only limited quantities. You only need one for Farseer. And if you have Explo-Data, that helps a lot for progression with that lady ...
