Ross 47 is about 12LY from Sirius, which I felt was suspicious so I went there to check for convoys. I found a fair few at threat 4 but nothing more than Hafnium or legal cargo. If the UP convoys appear in only one system it would be amazing luck to have found one, although it would also explain why it has not happened until now. It might be interesting to find out if they appear elsewhere within ~20LY. Is their destination Sirius, Sol or somewhere else? Did they come from Merope and might UPs be found 'native' if we could trace the route/origin of the convoys?

Unless I can join a wing of people who all have the Sirius permit tomorrow (unlikely), I'll stick to helping out in Ross 47. My Courier has both a cargo scanner and a wake scanner, so if I encounter a convoy that high-wakes out, then I can see if they're heading somewhere or just jumping around randomly. Good luck with your hunting! (If you're having problems taking out the attacking ships, might I suggest lots of mines and/or missiles?)

In what world is it even remotely smart to bring a probe of unknown origin to less than 100 LY from the cradle of mankind? We don't know who sent it, their intentions, what information it's gathering, or what it's transmitting to. Seems like a great idea to bring it just a hop, skip, and a jump from Sol.

Because... that would be stupid. Cant wait to see how they look like tho... i wonder if they are simillar to UA's.
It was the same for the UA convoys, some commanders could find them easy, others like me, never saw them once, despite putting well over a hundred hours into it.
I and others suspect it had something to do with our ranks.
We never did find the purpose of those UA convoys. I do wonder if there mission was to sabotage a station.

Humans are dumb. we do dumb things.
The convoys appearing in one system could be the reason why Frontier posted that Galnet article in the local news. Increasing the likelihood of them being found. Ross 47 is also fairly well visited system.
you assume humans dont know what it is. We dont. It's obvious some arm of government has much more knowledge about the situation.
Hi everyone - id like to show my results over our big search and find at Ross 47.
We did not find a UP however,there is a unusual high ammount of Convoys.
Most convoys are 0,2 and 3,theres lots of "Weapons fire detected" and emissions.
We found 15-20 Of them in our 3-4 hour search with a lot of CMDRS.
Most didnt even had a python( the ones i went to had NO pythons) but instead T9s guarded by 2 Anacondas.
They are carrying mostly the following:
Hafnium
HE suits
Food and Water types
Explosives
Antiquoes (is this how its spelled?)
USS spawn rate is really high near the Gas giant and its moons.
2 of the moons are landable,however scan the Nav Beacon or use a discovery scanner to find them.
I only saw one medical python WHICH was not in a threat 4,but in a threat 3.
It carried medical items.
the Convoys did NOT have a pirate attack on them and neither did we see any comms talking about Failures.
Ill be scanning the area again tommorow,for now its enough i guess.

De-lurk. By an amazing coincidence (sort of) I'm in the area. I think I'm one hop away, possibly two. I was actually in Ross 47 last night.
I'm tied up in fantasy land at the moment pretending to have a job but in about 10 minutes I can return to RL for the weekend and get down to serious work which is ED.

That other commander would be me. Myself and Ave were tracing a lead found at Gidzenko prospect's news bulletin (links here https://i.gyazo.com/c759505c9ab3d809b5b72922c129edb1.png). I jumped in soon as he started calling for help, and found him facing off with a convoy of four vultures, three anacondas, and the python transporting the cargo. A quick scan of the python gave us the confirmation we needed that the UP exists. Commanders were already in route to assist; I'm not sure what happened, but the ships started to open fire upon Ave in his anaconda, and had to swear and get into the fight to bring the heat off of him. All of my attentnion was on the python at first. I managed to break its shields despite the overwhelming fire coming in. The first hatch breaker was denied by point defense fire, but the second made it through to attach. I couldn't stick around for the 16 second hack time due to my shields being overwhelmed and my FDL's hull starting to get shredded. I managed to burn out with the annies in tow, the vultures and python still chasing down Ave. I outran the annies and swung back around to parallel the python while they were chasing Ave; both of us were under 20% hull, with our shields back up to half. Our job was just to keep the instance open while commanders came in. Our backup arrived, a cobra and a cutter, and they engaged immediately. What happened next was a bit of a blur. I dove back in to at least get another cargo scan off, burn the pythons renewed shields, and get my hatchbreakers off again. I managed the first two, but a PA struck me and took me out. Not before I got a screenshot though!!! The aftercom chatter said they got the UP free of the cargo hold, but somehow it was destroyed before it could be scooped. It's unknown if it was destroyed by ramming, or if the convoy denied us the package. Either way, we lost it, and the survivors bailed out to reorganize. Our goal in that was entirely just to PROVE its existance. Here it is! Wings are already organized for a proper raid now. Yes, I do have video evidence, but I was recording for 6 hours straight, so I need to sort through it. Never done that before. If anyone can help with that, it'd be appreciated.

Maybe try Windows Movie Maker, or whatever that program is called? It's pretty good for basic cutting like that, when I've used it on much shorter sources.
